Very Lazy
"Lazlo Vaslavsky"
5 mins 24s
12 January 2010
UK Condiments

Very Lazy's excellent television campaign featuring world champion chopper Lazlo Vaslavsky has been augmented by this spoof documentary which is available to online audiences.

As is the case with the television work, the parody has a sufficiently light touch to make the central character almost believable and it is this authenticity which makes the whole campaign so much fun.

In this film, we are treated to an examination of Vaslavsky's back story which focuses on the unflinching adulation he enjoys in his native country. It isn't entirely clear which country this might be which is probably just as well... as Sasha Baron-Cohen discovered when he made his character Borat a citizen of Kazakhstan, people aren't usually flattered when their country is portrayed as a dismal backwater.

Very Lazy has shown admirable commitment to this campaign and we hope they are rewarded with record-breaking sales.

This is a nice concept but the execution is so contrived i just did a bit of sick.

"Calendar"
60s
24 Apr 2009
A beautifully executed piece of understated comedy introduces us to Jenny as she takes part in a photo shoot for a bingo calendar. Thanks to the dry delivery it all looks very plausible and you have to love the line: 'I am not doing this for me, I am doing it for bingo.'

Sainsbury's
"Taste"
50s
24 Apr 2010
This change of style for Sainsbury's leans heavily on our faith in Jamie Oliver and to very good effect. The fat-tongued chef delivers a perfect performance in a single take as he approaches a pan of sizzling sausages while explaining the importance of taste.

Irn Bru
"Steamy Windows"
30s
24 Apr 2012
The way that Irn-Bru is being advertised is not very different from the way you might expect vodka to be advertised to alcoholics. The proud claim here is that the fizzy drink will numb your pain... and no one could need their pain numbed more than a young man who's just caught his parents in flagrante delicto.

Zagorka
"Beauty Queen"
45s
24 Apr 2013
Bulgarian beer Zagorka has been losing out to more exotic imported offerings in its home market so they've asked BBH in London to provide them with a little je ne sais quoi. The result is a series of bafflingly strange commercials including this wonderful piece of surreal nonsense.

Dunlop
"Forever Forward"
1 min 35s
24 Apr 2015
Another outing for the 'life flashing before your eyes' meme but no complaints from us as this is an absolutely cracking piece of work. Director Chris Hewitt and his editor Adam Marshall have melded a perfectly-judged summary of a young man's life with glimpses of him tearing around the racecourse where we see him at both the beginning and the end of the commercial.

Booking.com
"Farewell"
30s
24 Apr 2015
Another fantastic instalment in this terrific campaign has a man reluctant to leave the island where he's enjoyed unparalleled hospitality; and thus confounds everybody - including the VO - by diving into the sea and swimming back to the waving islanders. The 'conversation' between the VO and the man's inner monologue is pretty funny but it's everyone's response that really makes this an outstanding piece of work.

VW Touareg
"School Alone"
30s
24 Apr 2005
Clever ad has you wondering what is going on when you see a boy roaming his school all by himself. Only when we see his mother pick him up in the afternoon do we realise he is the only one who's made it to school on a snowy day thanks to a VW Touareg.

Microsoft
"Universal Morning"
60s
24 Apr 2006
Here's an irony... someone persuaded Microsoft to upgrade their advertising which puts the boot on other foot. People are shown rising for work all over the World as it's explained that people are the most important asset of any company.

Heart FM
"Over Washed"
30s
24 Apr 2006
A woman vigorously scrubs her car as she listens to the musical output of Heart FM. She so enjoys the songs that she gets a bit carried away and by the time she's finished she has managed to wear away the paintwork on her car.

Kellogg's Bran Flakes
"Step Counter"
30s
24 Apr 2006
William Shatner continues his crusade to prevent young Britons from following his example and turning into tubs of lard. Here he invites a bus queue to join him in his limousine and explains how the step counter that comes free with the cereal will help them.

Electrolux Oven
"Stoop"
30s
24 Apr 2006
Ad questions our willingness to stoop to look at what is happening in our ovens by showing people doing the same thing in other circumstances such as at an art gallery and while window shopping. Electrolux's oven has better visibility so you don't have to bend.

Virgin Insurance
"The Big C"
30s
24 Apr 2006
This animated ad deserves praise for dealing with the taboo of cancer in a wonderfully disrespectful way. Observing that a considerable proportion of us are likely to have to tackle the Big C at some stage, Virgin's health insurance will give you the Big V with which to fight back.

Mars Delight
"Dating Agency"
30s
24 Apr 2006
The two women who run a dating agency are at cross purposes when one thinks they are discussing one of their male clients while the other is talking about Mars's new confectionery. Only when the latter suggests they share, is the misunderstanding made plain.

Budweiser
"The Wave"
30s
24 Apr 2006
A crowd at a sports stadium hold up coloured pieces of card that depicts a full bottle of Budweiser and an empty glass. Cleverly, the beer appears to be poured as more spectators overturn their cards. Then a further change makes it appear the beer has been drunk and the crowd lets out a satisfied chuckle.

Maltesers
"Loose Women Sponsorship"
85s
24 Apr 2008
A new set of sponsorship bumpers of the low-calorie chocolate snack which appear to have been specially made for the summer season of Loose Women. The protagonist from the previous series once again seeks new ways of being naughty with amusing results.

Compare The Market
"Sergei"
30s
24 Apr 2009
The Compare The Meerkat campaign continues with ever growing confidence. This ad introduces us to Sergei who has had to build a new web server because of all the traffic the meerkats have been receiving from people looking for Compare The Market.

Barclays
"Pig Herder"
30s
24 Apr 2009
Another in the charming new series for Barclays has Stephen Merchant once again providing a tongue-in-cheek commentary to some pretty absurd action. This time a woman uses a ceramic sheepdog to corral some uncooperative piggy banks.

Barclays
"Spinning Coins"
30s
24 Apr 2010
Another in this winning series for Barclays which uses Stephen Merchant to poke fun at the imagery. This is clever as Merchant's heavy dose of irony enables very obvious visual metaphors to be employed without the ad seeming cheesy.

Sky
"Statistics"
40s
24 Apr 2010
This is an interesting one. Sky is using the fact that the BBC and ITV are offering World Cup coverage in high definition to promote the HD version of their satellite receiver. In very, very small print you can see that a subscription to Sky isn't necessary to secure these channels.

True Stories
"True Stories 2010"
60s
24 Apr 2010
Speechlessness lies at the heart of this impressive trail for a new series of Channel 4's True Stories. There are some troubled looking faces in this montage and football fans should note that Diego Maradona and Thierry Henry look ready to compare 'handball' experiences.

The Sunday Times
"Beckham"
10s
24 Apr 2010
You might think that David Beckham and his lovely wife Victoria (or 'Thick & Thin' as they were dubbed by David Mitchell) are pretty well off... but their wealth is nothing compared with retail magnate Philip Green according to this winning campaign for the Rich List.

The Sunday Times
"Bootiful"
10s
24 Apr 2010
Here's a good head to head. Jamie Oliver's star rose when he attacked the poor food served to children and Bernard Matthews's Turkey Twizzler became an emblem of the rubbished dished out by schools. The Sunday Times Rich List lets us compare their wealth.

The Sunday Times
"Dragons"
10s
24 Apr 2010
Another in this excellent series for The Sunday Times Rich List examines the relative wealth of four of the participants of the BBC programme Dragons' Den. It may surprise you to learn who is top dog.

The Sunday Times
"Stones"
10s
24 Apr 2010
The Rolling Stones are a tremendously wealthy bunch but even the combined riches of the four remaining members of the group is eclipsed by one of their musical contemporaries. Can you guess who it is?

The Sunday Times
"Tycoons"
10s
24 Apr 2010
The most complicated equation of all is reserved for the richest people on the rich list (well, we say people... unsurprisingly, they are all men). So who could possibly be worth two Alan Sugars, four Roman Abramoviches and a pair of Bernie Ecclestones?
