Gem have decided to make us aware that the only step needed to cure baldness and set up the world's first all yeti bobsleigh team is taking out a personal loan. The man in the ad realises this after launching into a dream sequence where all of his (mostly yeti-themed) dreams come true. The creativity running through the story and the visuals sets this apart from a typical loan company ad.

31 Mar 2017
A woman plans her ideal future which quickly escalates from buying a car that won't get stuck to becoming the supreme ruler of a group of mutant mermen. As a hand springs out of her glove box, she realises that taking out a personal loan is the first step to unlocking her dreams. The ad is shot in a creative and surreal style to match the quirkiness of the woman's imagination.

Nutmeg
"ISAs"
30s
30 Mar 2017
The ISA deadline is approaching, and investment outfit Nutmeg suggest they're the shrewd choice when it comes to stocks and shares. It's a tweaked version of last year's launch ad; the simple animation remains the same, but the voices sound smoother this time round. Who knows - the approach may even encourage children to pursue a "sophisticated, diversified portfolio" early.

Experian Credit Expert
"Identity"
30s
15 Mar 2017
Experian warn against identity fraud and promote themselves as the solution in this cleverly constructed piece which shows objects being manipulated by conjurers' hands. Sinister background music plays as a voice over dramatically tells us about the danger of personal information being shared among criminals. The target of the ad is revealed with the final shot, a framed picture of a family.

Experian Credit Expert
"Next Steps"
30s
15 Feb 2017
First steps turn to next steps in this latest Experian commercial as it builds on last year's promise to provide free credit scores permanently. Having obtained that all-important number, consumers can now use CreditMatcher to find compatible loans and credit cards. Shots of moving feet create a suitably progressive tone.

ClearScore
"Bathtime"
30s
15 Feb 2017
ClearScore’s offbeat campaign continues to intrigue as Charlie’s advised to check his credit score whilst in the bath. While he has a nosey at the advertised website, Moose the dog asks what his owner’s doing in that giant bowl of water. Alas, not everyone’s as keen to join Charlie as the telepathic mutt. Strangely compelling.

ClearScore
"Cat Video"
30s
15 Feb 2017
Every cat owner knows that no matter how much you think you're in charge, the kitties run the house. Even when you're checking your credit score online for free, as this quirky ad for ClearScore demonstrates. A man tries to take responsibility for his finances while lounging in bed, but Flearoy is deeply unimpressed and has other ideas.

L&C
"Cake"
40s
30 Jan 2017
This neat ad for mortgage brokers L&C provides food for thought. This couple are weighing up their options in a cake shop, but the bloke is easily swayed (“this one’s got a cherry on it”). Just as he’s about to make the proprietor’s day, a straight-talking chap reminds us that choosing a mortgage requires a savvier approach... and that's where L&C come in.

Currency Fair
"Fireflies"
30s
24 Oct 2016
Currency Fair attempt to talk us into buying a foreign property in this sugary animation for their currency exchange service. The story calls in the fairy motif from their previous campaign with the male voiceover chuckling when his female companion mistakes fireflies for fairies on her Spanish holiday. Maybe she was a few sangrias in by then.

Insolvency Service of Ireland
"Drowning"
40s
4 Oct 2016
The Insolvency Service of Ireland realises the notion of 'drowning in debt' with this unnerving, well-crafted commercial. A woman is shown struggling against an invisible current as her two children eat breakfast. As she floats in mid-air, she fights for a lifeline. Alas, there are only half-made cups of tea and final warnings on her kitchen counter.

Current Account Switch Guarantee
"Shaft Spoof"
40s
17 Sep 2016
It's very nice of Engine and Peter Cattaneo to combine forces to bring us this rather sweet (and very English) take on the theme from Shaft but - as is often the way with commercials funded by bodies that have nothing to sell - it's a bit pointless. It takes nothing away from the execution but it's almost impossible to imagine this fuelling anyone's desire or willingness to switch bank accounts.

Experian Credit Expert
"First Steps"
30s
21 Sep 2016
Credit score website Experian announce that their service is now free . After years of being synonymous with free thirty-day trials, it's a bold move. The brand has done well in communicating its usefulness in recent times, and this ad creates an optimistic vibe with a sequence of feet striding forward with purpose.

ClearScore
"Pineapple"
30s
10 May 2016
"Why pineapple!?" indeed. While Dad is drawn to ClearScore's offer of a free credit report, his curious offspring is busy wrapping his impressively-spiky head around the enigma that is pineapples. Jack may have a credit score of 420 out of 700, but his use of the family guinea pig as an example scores a big fat zero with his son. Another odd outing which nonetheless stirs one's interest.

ClearScore
"Sofa"
30s
10 May 2016
This quirky ad for ClearScore certainly draws you in with its idiosyncratic exchanges. When an ad for the credit rating website appears on this couple's telly (very meta), Charlie types away to gauge his current situation. Soon enough, Moose the dog wants to know what his beloved master's up to on the silver thing. Bizarre and somewhat hypnotic, it's not what you'd expect from an ad in this sector.

Insurance Confidential
"Motor Insurance"
30s
21 Apr 2016
Another enjoyable animated ad from Insurance Confidential reminds the Irish populace to keep an eye out for instances of insurance fraud. Sam and Mark's economy with the truth means premium hikes for everyone else - hardly a cartoonish scenario. A witty and effective means of communicating the task force's message, plus we like the policeman arriving to serve justice with a smile on his face.

Insurance Confidential
"Home Insurance"
30s
21 Apr 2016
You wouldn't think insurance fraud would make good cartoon material, but Insurance Confidential prove it can work. Julian Frost's likeable animation is pleasing to the eye, and it cleverly tells a story which will cause viewers' wallets discomfort. This unscrupulous duo think their bogus claims are watertight, but Ireland's anti-fraud centre wants proactive viewers to protect their premiums by reporting the likes of 'Bill' and 'Tom'.

Vipps
"Eggs"
65s
18 Apr 2016
Payment app Vipps do an Attenborough on us by highlighting a fascinating migration phenomenon: Norwegians going on their holidays. Our Nordic brethren are imaginatively depicted as hatchlings crawling on to the beach in search of sun, sea, and copious amounts of ice cream. As they gradually adapt to their warmer climate, they show advanced generosity by paying for each others' vacation fun - a gesture made simple by the advertised banking app.

Klarna
"Fish"
30s
3 Mar 2016
In this Swedish spot for internet payment company Klarna, a large fish poises itself at the top of a children's slide before gliding down it and across a polished floor. It appears in no out-of-water discomfort at all: on the contrary, the whole scenario appears as frictionless as if the fish were happily submerged. Add to this a distinctive electronic music bed and you have a film that's the epitome of smooth.

TD Direct Investing
"If I Can, You Can"
30s
2 Mar 2016
It can be a tricky proposition presenting the realm of shares and investments to audiences, so this ad for TD Direct Investing uses our desire to better ourselves to convey the message. Just as we seek the right tutelage and equipment to learn a new pastime, the advertised company suggests they can provide the same level of support when it comes to improving our financial position.

Nutmeg
"Just Nutmeg It"
30s
23 Feb 2016
This quirky little spot with its lo-tech animation and processed voices certainly gets your attention. Nutmeg, it transpires, is an investment company offering a simple way to invest your money without the hassle of following the stock market. There is a problem, though - it feels very much like an ad for a payday loan company in tone... and does the phrase 'nutmeg it' conjure up football pitches for anyone else, or is it just us?

TurboTax
"Never a Sellout"
60s
8 Feb 2016
As is customary, many big name stars have embraced the almighty dollar during this year's Super Bowl ad bonanza. Sir Anthony Hopkins, on the other hand, has too much integrity to even consider it. In the course of this amusing interview, we're given a few reasons to believe otherwise. After all, it's hard to overlook the TurboTax-branded fine china, slippers, and canine

Rocket Mortgages
"What We Were Thinking"
60s
3 Feb 2016
This dynamic advert for financial services company Rocket Mortgages promises to make it as easy to secure a loan to buy a house as it is to download music, and appears to be operating in a universe where the sub-prime mortgage disaster never happened. It's a brilliantly attractive commercial and highly persuasive to boot but - come on, America - try to remember what happened last time you made it possible to secure a mortgage without checks and balances!

SunTrust
"Hold Your Breath"
60s
3 Feb 2016
The fallout of the 2008 financial crisis made it impossible for countless victims of circumstances to breathe easy for a long, long time. And so, in a bold opening gambit, this ad for SunTrust asks us to hold our breath. It's fine at first - we feel in control, but as our oxygen supply dwindles panic sets in. This is how it felt for all those people, we're told; which is why SunTrust is determined to ensure its customers don't experience the same pain.

SoFi
"Greatness"
30s
28 Jan 2016
Maybe this spot for SoFi has fallen down the ravine of the cultural divide, because we're not quite sure if it really gets the message across. Some of the people here are singled out as great, some aren't, and some we're told never will be. The great ones qualify for great rates on a loan, so why not see if you're great too? Although you're probably not, the VO points out. Hmm. How does this make SoFi seem an attractive proposition - or, as we wondered, are we missing something?

SoFi
"Bankless Future"
45s
27 Jan 2016
Presented in the style of a children's story, the rise of the traditional banking model is told as if it were a man-made creation; a golem which - once life has been breathed into it - grows into an uncontrollable monster that can neither die nor succeed. So don't sustain it in vain, this spot suggests - look to a future where there are better alternatives, like SoFi. It's a neat idea, but more information about SoFi would be helpful.
