Nestlé Toll House
"Fundraiser"
60s
11 January 2017
USA Cakes / Mixes

A girl discovers her inner conservationist in this US ad for Nestlé Toll House, the food giant's dessert brand. Concerned at the Amur leopard's survival prospects, she holds a bake sale which is unsurprisingly a roaring success. The ad also suggests Nestlé cares about our animal friends. Given their reputation amongst environmental groups, it may take a lot of cookies to change perceptions.

Mr Kipling
"Loose Women Sponsorship"
35s
6 Jun 2016
Mr Kipling's cakes are used to distract family members in this series of bumpers used to advertise its sponsorship of Loose Women. They look like they were chucked together in half an hour but they certainly connect with the new TVC and, let's face it, Loose Women doesn't exactly have the nation's most discriminating audience.

Mr Kipling
"Holiday Photos"
30s
11 Apr 2016
Mr Kipling shows even after all these years, he still has a mischievous glint in his eye as the brand makes a humorous return to our televisions. In this well-cast slice of situational comedy, a couple's tame presentation of holiday snaps takes a risqué turn. With the embarrassing evidence left to our imagination, the reactions from the assembled family make the ad.

Soreen
"Playground"
10s
11 Feb 2016
This short has been filmed using a lens which distorts the face of the schoolboy holding open his lunchbox.... and it's not really clear why. Meanwhile, Johnny Ball's VO explains that there's a new variant of the malt loaf designed for school lunches and the animated product dashes around the playground with gay abandon.

The Fabulous Bakers
"Fabulous World"
30s
12 Aug 2015
Formerly known as the Fabulous Bakin' Boys, The Fabulous Bakers have come up with a campaign to 'make the world a better place one muffin at a time' according to their website. This new ad stresses their belief in natural ingredients by pointing out various things we may not know, such as the fact that a pineapple is made of flowers fused together. Indeed.

Barny
"He's Back"
20s
6 Aug 2015
It's hard to know what to make of the advertising for this brand. The boy looks suitably terrified when he's first approached by the bear with the massive head, who appears to be operating as a metaphor for the energy provided by the advertised foodstuff. This product is being touted as a healthy option despite looking desperately unhealthy and appearing to provoke full-blown psychosis - quite a feat, really.

Mr Kipling
"Zoo Tickets"
20s
15 Jun 2015
Mr Kipling is kindly giving away thousands of free zoo tickets and - to mark the occasion - we're introduced to probably the sweetest critter around. Far too excitable to be kept in the picnic bag all day long, the angel slice pooch embarks on his own journey to visit the penguin enclosure. It's a jolly ad brought to life with lovely animation and clear enthusiasm.

Tunnock's Tea Cakes
"Window Cleaning"
20s
1 Jun 2015
Awkward acting is a feature of this campaign and - to be fair - it does make the ads stand out a bit. With absolutely nothing else to talk about, the chap on the coach comments to his partner on the surprisingly low calories of a Tunnock's tea cake. Seizing her chance, she gets him to burn off those calories by washing the windows.

Cadbury Mini Rolls
"Cop Show"
20s
6 May 2015
Classic Dad business from Cadburys. Alone in the kitchen, he treats himself to a Mini-Roll. Suddenly our purple-clad protagonist is the star of his own TV cop show as he aims and swoops to the Starsky & Hutch theme music. It's a fun ad that gets the featured variant back in our minds after a long absence, while David Soul would be proud of that bonnet slide.

Dr Oetker
"Ristorante"
30s
2 Mar 2015
The Teutonic-sounding Dr Oetker tries to persuade us that their pallid frozen pizzas are of restaurant quality, as a man feeds a woman a slice of the stuff. "Unlock the fresh pizzeria taste at home," pronounces the VO, "with Ristorante." To underline the gastronomic treat in store, we're shown the pizza boxes in a chest freezer. Delish.

Soreen
"The Loveable Loaf"
30s
6 Oct 2014
A loaf of the advertised currant-filled malt loaf makes its way out of the Soreen factory and across the road but not before a passing cyclist pulls over to rip off a corner of its body. It's like a jolly zombie movie with the bread-based protagonist being eaten alive by undead hordes who have successfully disguised themselves as ordinary folk.

Mr Kipling
"Pink Elephant"
40s
26 Aug 2014
In this CGI-riven film for Mr Kipling, a young boy drawing a pink elephant under the shade of some trees in the park is suddenly joined by his imaginary beast and the two of them enjoy a frisky pas de deux while others look on, apparently unable to see the elephant in the coombe.

Dr Oetker
"Public Vote"
20s
11 Sep 2013
Yes, once again, the pizza brand with a name suggesting a German psychoanalyst who's moved into the catering industry tempts us with this tasting menu of cards featuring various topping options. We're not sure, but it looks as though the concept was loosely based on Top Trumps.

Barny
"Bear Abduction"
30s
19 Aug 2013
Now children everywhere can legally trip - simply by consuming a sponge animal. One mouthful and they're abducted by a child-sized bear who tells them they're needed for navigational purposes before bouncing them back to the kitchen floor. The boy in this ad looked freaked out as the sponge hill turned into a trampoline. Well, you would, wouldn't you?

Dr Oetker
"Try It"
10s
17 Jun 2013
This rushed spot has an accumulation of voices trying to burble something about the pizza base as their heads are superimposed on a square which turns into a packshot on a kitchen table. If there's any prospect of people being interested in this offer, why not give them a chance to figure it out?

Dr Oetker
"Panebello"
30s
17 Jun 2013
This tedious offering suggests the pizzas are as bland as the ad itself. The big stumbling block is the name: why on earth would you be persuaded that the brand is authentically delicious when it sounds like something you'd buy over the counter for an embarrassing rash? Surely there's mileage in a campaign that addresses and overcomes this?

Mr Kipling
"Angel Slices"
10s
7 Mar 2012
This postscript to the longer ad suggests that a 'cake to go' is a little bit magic. In fairness, we haven't really experienced too many difficulties with the portability of cake in the past and we're not really sure what the proposition is here. Packaging? Is that all it is?

Mr Kipling
"Grandma and Her Tin"
30s
28 Feb 2012
Mr Kipling is a brand with a lot of advertising heritage but commercials have been thin on the ground for some time. This offering from new agency 101 cleverly draws on the Mr Kipling legacy and it's clearly designed to stir memories in the target audience.

Dr Oetker
"Competitive Cake Making"
30s
8 Feb 2012
A couple get all competitive when they discover the various products available from Dr Oetker. Their offerings grow ever more elaborate and by the end they look like the kind of thing you'd expect to see at Kerry Katona's next wedding reception.

Mr Kipling
"Free Range Eggs"
30s
4 Feb 2011
Mrs Kipling is collecting eggs as she explains that she'd rather be watching television. Unfortunately for her, Mr Kipling has been too busy introducing free range eggs to make time to fix the aerial and only once he's finished making his latest batch of cakes (in his own kitchen), is he able to get on the roof and do his Rod Hull impersonation.

Dr Oetker
"Irresistible"
20s
5 Jul 2010
Bored with the same humdrum choices in her fridge, a woman peels back a layer of film to reveal a hunky fellow and a pile of fresh fruit. He, presumably, is the sinister sounding Dr Oetker but any relationship between the snack she eats and actual food is tenuous.

Tunnock's Tea Cakes
"Art Exhibit"
20s
25 Mar 2010
A woman is in an art gallery and is rather taken by an exhibit featuring the advertised product. Unable to resist the low calorie treat, she gobbles it up and the security guard is obliged to replace it with another.

Mr Kipling
"Oats"
30s
7 Mar 2010
When you bite into the advertised product, try to remember that it was born of sexual frustration. All Mrs Kipling wanted was a bit of 'how's your father' but her obtuse husband misread her mood and made her an unappealing looking cake instead. Poor lass.

Mr Kipling
"All Star Mr & Mrs Sponsorship"
85s
2 Jan 2010
Stock footage and still images have been used to chuck together a series of bumpers advertising Mr Kipling's sponsorship of All Star Mr & Mrs. They employ the same style of cheesy music as the programme itself and the effect is pretty dismal.

Mr Kipling
"Watering Can"
10s
14 Jul 2008
More of the jolly stop-frame animation for the brand that has been languishing on the dusty shelves of your local convenience shop since 1978. Apparently, they now sell their cakes in little pieces so you don't have to go to the trouble of biting a chunk of cake... clearly, something we are too busy to do.
