Ikea turn the struggle to get a good night's sleep into a competitive sport in this rousing ad. Featuring the persuasive vocal stylings of former sports coach and current motivational speaker Derrick Moore, sleepers are framed as athletes gearing up for the biggest test of their careers: eight full hours.

The small details are particularly satisfying here: including the 'Snoozin' Jo' boxer-style robe, careful selection of appropriate footwear (slippers), and night cream applied in the manner of warpaint. The final shots of determined sleepers launching themselves into bed are akin to crossing the finish line: presented in triumphant slow motion as they victoriously drift off into dreamland. Medals all round.

match.com
"Clumsiness"
20s
28 Dec 2016
'Clumsiness' is the latest lovable attribute in the ongoing series for match.com. We're waiting for the commercial where a woman falls for a man whose irresistible flaw is gambling... she shrugs at him with an adoring smile as he emerges from the bookies with his life in tatters and a newly acquired debt to a man whose middle name is "the".

Halfords
"Winter"
30s
18 Nov 2016
Halfords sum up the reality of going away for the weekend with your mates in this frenetic ad. The script's staccato barrage carries us along on an exhausting but exhilarating ride, once again smartly implying that a trip to the retailer beforehand ensures we can take spontaneity for granted.

Baileys
"Cosy"
20s
15 Nov 2016
No doubt many will subscribe to the Baileys vision of extreme cosiness. Despite the log fire and soft furnishings , this sofa looks unattended... until a hand reaches out from under the cushions to grope for a fistful of popcorn. Now that's fast track comfort. All that remains is to pour a glass of the advertised liquor and pure indulgence is yours for the night.

"Presents"

Another in the new campaign for Baileys exhorting us to take the speediest route to a glass of the cream liqueur. Want a drink but need to hide the prezzies? Knock a hole in the wall, shove them in, you're done. Joanna Lumley's VO suggests vandalism can seem like an act of classy irreverence so long as you keep it in the home.

Baileys
"Pear"
20s
11 Nov 2016
This festive ad for Bailey's features a syrupy pear playing hard to get as a diner chases it round her dessert plate with a fork. Eventually it shoots off and meets an untimely end, at which point the anonymous diner improvises with a glass of the liqueur. Joanna Lumley's dulcet VO and Yello's 'Oh Yeah' give the whole spot a strange 80s vibe.

Not On The High Street
"Elves"
60s
7 Nov 2016
Ads featuring elves are not unusual at this time of year. However, as always, it's not what you show – it's how you show it. And Not On The High Street's festive offering this year is a excellent reminder. Hand crafted, customised, or bespoke, presents from NOTHS say you're thoughtful and value the person on the receiving end. So when jewellers and joiners pause in their work to seemingly echo this sentiment we don't notice at first that there's something... well, different about them.

Boots
"The Gift of Beauty"
60s
9 Nov 2016
While the rest of us collapse on the sofa after one Bucks Fizz too many on Christmas Day, for others it's just another day on the job. Boots use their Christmas ad to pay tribute to those keeping us safe and healthy over the festive period. Firefighters, nurses and ambulance staff all receive their moment in the spotlight thanks to the retailer's mobile beauty section.

Halfords
"Darkness"
10s
3 Nov 2016
Things get far too dark for a pair of goths in this sharply-edited short when they realise one of their headlights has died. It succinctly gets across the idea that a pit stop at Halfords should mean only a brief diversion thanks to the store's on-the-spot fitting service, although, in our experience, you might just get sent away with a "computer says no" kind of response from the staff.

Halfords
"Wipers"
10s
2 Nov 2016
Another 10s spot for Halfords, this time featuring a couple on their way to a fancy dress party. Unable to agree on music and unable to drive in silence due to their annoyingly squeaky windscreen wipers, a quick trip to Halfords is requires in order to resolve the issue. Although sadly it also robs us of the chance to witness a cat vs lobster fight.

Halfords
"Battery"
10s
2 Nov 2016
Halfords subverts expectations with this amusing ad for their on-the-spot fitting service. You expect this chap to be a nightmare - he calls his car 'the beast' - but he's actually a nice young man who apologises for disturbing the neighbours and pops into Halfords to get a new car battery on the way to see his mum. Bless.

Boots No 7
"Makeup Doesn't Mean Anything"
60s
22 Oct 2016
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, award-winning author and celebrated feminist speaker, is the new face of Boots No. 7 range of cosmetics. In between featuring on Beyoncé albums and writing thank-you notes to Michelle Obama, the woman often identified as the most influential in Africa finds time to give us her thoughts on cosmetics and their function in the world: 'Make-up is just make-up, it's how you feel wearing it that matters.'

IKEA
"Welcome Home"
60s
8 Oct 2016
IKEA tug the heartstrings with this understated, affecting ad for its lighting range. The ad opens with quiet shots of a woman heading home after work at night, walking through poorly lit streets while her son waits up and worries. A look around the room gives him an idea, and the next day he canvasses the neighbourhood and borrow lamps from as many friends and neighbours as possible to light her way home safely.

Boots Opticians
"Don't Like Glasses"
30s
7 Oct 2016
You never know when a Boots optician is going to appear at your workplace, eh? This chirpy woman 'surprises' a make-up artist with a demonstration of the retailer's eyewear range. Despite Victoria's initial reservations, she soon finds her ideal pair of glasses. Even if the joviality feels a touch forced, the ad puts spectacle shopping in a positive light.

Boots
"Festival"
30s
28 Sep 2016
Three women take a break from a music festival to "change their beauty look" thanks to Boots. The trio exchange make-up tips and beauty anecdotes before settling on the right looks to wow the crowds. The ad does a decent job showcasing the retailer's beauty range, though 30" struggles to convey this jaunt as a transformative experience.

Boots No 7
"Explosive Colour"

1 Sep 2016
Boots No 7 seems to have taken a leaf out of the Marks and Spencers book with this latest 10" ad for the brand's comprehensive make-up selection. A black background plays host to a pyrotechnic display of colourful powder, providing a quick yet diverting demonstration of how the range's palette can satisfy one's cosmetic needs in vibrant fashion.

moneysupermarket.com
"Epic Squads"
60s
3 Sep 2016
One would be forgiven for thinking moneysupermarket.com's dance-off between builder Colin and shorts 'n' tie strutter Dave earlier this year marked the peak of this campaign's drive for epicness. As this latest outing shows, the price comparison site believes there's plenty of mileage left in shaking booty and misappropriating building site equipment.

Laterooms.com
"Stag Do"
30s
22 Aug 2016
A companion ad to 'Business Trip' in the new campaign for LateRooms.com, this features a group of lads on a stag do. Their faces are a picture as the stag walks diffidently out of the bathroom in the outfit they've given him to wear... but everyone's attention is suddenly diverted when a potential fifth member of the group crashes through the wall to join them. Marcus Brigstocke's VO completely nails what is a strong script - and there should really be more credit for a voiceover's contribution to an ad. It's something of an overlooked art, yet it can be the difference between a humdrum ad and one that zings out at us.

Laterooms.com
"Business Trip"
30s
22 Aug 2016
Handled with less love, this could have been a fairly run-of-the-mill spot for LateRooms.com. Instead, it delivers a lot of clout - in more than just the obvious way. A bloke on a business trip is relaxing in his hotel room when his indolence is interrupted by a person-sized discount sign crashing through his ceiling (or someone else's floor). So far, so-so. But the rest of the ad lifts it above the usual offer-led approach to commercials.

Boots No 7
"Match Made Service"
10s
8 Aug 2016
A 10" plug for Boots No 7's tailored make-up range forms the first three letters of 'foundation' (more than enough for us to get what's going on) with three different foundation shades, while Mariella Frostrup's VO points viewers to their local branch for their own ideal tone. Funny, the on-screen gloop reminds us somewhat of runny chocolate, or... erm, something else.

match.com
"Shower Singer"
10s
4 Aug 2016
Another snippet taken from a longer ad is used to send a signal to young singletons that they're likely to find an adorable, quirky partner comfortable with getting naked if they pay a monthly fee to the advertised dating site. It positions match.com perfectly between the pomposity of eHarmony and the out and out coarseness of Grindr.

IKEA
"Cheese Balls"
34s
28 Jul 2016
Another handsy execution from Ikea sees this young man prepare some cheese balls with some help from an extra pair of 'arms'. The cultured score and kitchen counter choreography make for an entertaining watch, and the brand's new focus on making a song and dance out of food preparation continues to be well-served by these shorts directed by tantrum's Stephen Pipe.

IKEA
"Crispbread"
37s
28 Jul 2016
Next on the Ikea menu is crispbread hors d'oeuvres, and this two-in-one chef makes a gleeful mess of applying cheese, figs, seeds, and honey to their crunchy slices. There is method to the madness, however, and the duo's sense of fun is conveyed well as the Swedish retailer continues to instil as much spontaneity into our kitchen spaces as possible... even if the work surfaces have to bear the messy brunt.

IKEA
"Mocktail"
44s
28 Jul 2016
This is one of several amusing new pieces for IKEA which back up their proposition that we should all be having a lot more fun in the kitchen. It's a familiar comic stunt... one person stands behind another, providing their 'arms' and attempting to execute something quite tricky. In this case, the objective is to make a cocktail. As you might expect, not everything goes entirely to plan but there's a lot of laughter and the frivolity neatly serves the core proposition.

Boots
"The Rickshaw Run"
30s
18 Jul 2016
We're a long way from 'Here Come the Girls' and while a lot of glamour has been sacrificed, the serious tone of this film strongly underlines the idea that Boots is a responsible ally when it comes to safeguarding your health. The helpful young man dispensing over-the-counter medicine to tourists in South Asia is a perfect spokesperson for the brand.
