We’re led to believe this lot are divulging some dating revelations. A nerdish chap is struggling to read “the signs”, while one woman reveals: “I know I need to do it - I just don’t know when”. As it turns out, they’re each describing their experiences with ‘My Volkswagen’ - an app designed to help drivers keep on top of their car’s maintenance. A droll way of drawing prospective VW owners’ attention.

Skittles
"Romance"
30s
30 Jan 2017
In contrast to their last strange Super Bowl ad featuring Steven Tyler at his most dead-eyed, this year Skittles keep things simple - and it works. We're shown a house late at night, with a guy trying to get the object of his affections to notice him. Instead of throwing pebbles at her window, however, he's decided confectionery might sweeten his chances.

Halifax
"Scooby Doo"
60s
9 Jan 2017
Halifax continue raiding the Hanna-Barbera vault by bringing Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Incorporated gang to life. While evading a pesky mummy, Scoob and Shaggy learn about the rewards available to current account customers. We can only assume the unmasked 'mummy' at the end is a dastardly employee of a rival high street bank.

VW
"Car Karaoke"
75s
7 Jan 2017
Festive traffic jams are no concern for a musical family in this funny ad for VW. It's a familiar scene: kids bored in the back, parents equally bored in the front as the cars around them go nowhere. All that's missing is an 'are we nearly there yet?'. That is, until Dad decides to bust out some tunes and take a creative approach to killing time - one the rest of the family soon join in with.

Esso
"House Party"
30s
4 Jan 2017
Edward Housden's latest Esso ad stars a dad as a one-man taxi firm. Much to his daughter's dismay, he's more than happy to give both her and her friends a lift home (we like his insistence on the correct pronunciation of 'garage music'). And the reason for his generosity? Tesco Clubcard points whenever he fills up at the advertised petrol station.

Aviva
"Taxi Driver"
60s
1 Jan 2017
The trickery in this clever commercial for Aviva is as multi-layered as a Matryoshka doll. It suggests that the two people in the back of the taxi being steered by ex-Formula One driver David Coulthard have no idea what's in store for them. But, clearly they do. It also suggests that Coulthard did all the driving in this ad and this seems just as improbable. After all, the racer turned pundit is not a stunt driver.

Lipton Tea
"Bauble"
60s
21 Dec 2016
This charming ad for Lipton is as soothing as the hot cup of tea it advertises. To a calm acoustic soundtrack, it tells the story of an unlikely friendship as a lonely young boy and his school bus driver look out for each other. After noticing the perpetually-late kid doesn't have any friends, the kindly driver reaches out one morning to give him a small gesture of solidarity.

Waitrose
"Cheese"
20s
12 Dec 2016
A welcome return for Waitrose's elegant food campaign. This time, the supermarket entices us with some Vacherin cheese. The sound of cheese bubbling away is hard to resist. Before long, a slice of toast pierces the top layer and collects some of the oozing goodness beneath. An absence of VO or background music only enhances the experience.

Waitrose
"Bacon and Banana"
20s
12 Dec 2016
Bonkers - sorry, experimental - chef Heston Blumenthal has concocted some unusual festive treats for Waitrose. If you're bored of bog-standard trifle you can bin the sherry and strawberry jelly and give bacon and banana a go. Better not spring this one on guests without warning, even if the food photography here does make the dessert look intriguing.

Bell's Whisky
"Reruns"
20s
12 Dec 2016
Stephen Toast has seen it all before in this latest Bell's Whisky commercial. Matt Berry's comic thesp is unimpressed by the number of repeats on telly, so he chucks away the remote control. Alas, he becomes trapped in his own Del Boy-esque gag. Those who are all too familiar with that sense of déjà vu at this time of year will raise a glass in recognition.

SSE
"ITV Weather Sponsorship"
32s
5 Dec 2016
A pair of charming idents promoting SSE's sponsorship of ITV National Weather. The energy company's uncanny CGI orangutan tries to befriend a frog during a rainstorm before hanging around during a gentle breeze. The Mill's VFX boffins ensure Maya remains as transfixing as ever - and show us that even orangutans can't stand the rain.

H & M
"Come Together"
3 mins 52s
27 Nov 2016
There are few directors whose style is as distinctive as Wes Anderson and no self-respecting movie fan could look at this without immediately recognising it as his work. All of Anderson's familiar trickery has been deployed but don't let that fool you into thinking a square peg has been lodged into a round hole - the effect is entirely on point and is directed towards creating an utterly charming Christmas commercial.

Bulldog
"Awkward Elves"
60s
27 Nov 2016
Goodwill to one's fellow elf doesn't go entirely to plan in this well-performed ad for Bulldog. Two of Santa's hard-working employees discuss their love of Christmas. One of them wonders why elves don't give presents to each other. Safe to say his mate has never given it much thought. Sure enough though, the generous one has a surprise in store.

Bell's Whisky
"Steven Toast"
30s
10 Nov 2016
Matt Berry reprises his role as artistically-challenged thespian Steven Toast for Bell's. Whisky in hand, Toast is wary of the glut of festive "tele-vis-ion commercials" on our screens... but he soon joins in the festivities in full voice. Berry's script delivery is a joy as ever, and it strikes us as a very smart way t inject some personality into a rather humdrum brand.

Waitrose
"Coming Home"
1 min 50s
13 Nov 2016
adam&eveDDB have created a greater synergy between John Lewis's and Waitrose's advertising this Christmas. It's just over a year since they took over the supermarket's account and because of the way they've implemented some of the strategy that has made their partnership with John Lewis so successful, the connection between the two seems ever more evident.

VW
"Alien"
60s
10 Nov 2016
VW's latest ad supporting independent cinema should provide respite for those already weary of cute Christmas critters. A couple find themselves hunted by an extraterrestrial with an attitude problem. And you thought multi-storey car park charges were bad. An entertaining blend of sci-fi thrills and, erm, handsfree technology.

John Lewis
"Buster the Boxer"
2 mins
10 Nov 2016
As the world reels in revulsion at the decision to put Donald Trump in The White House, one wise Twitter user summed up the mood of the nation. Philip Westerman used the social media platform to say: "The John Lewis Christmas advert better be fucking spectacular". Well, we've got news for you, Mr Westerman... for the next two minutes, everything's going to be all right because it is "fucking spectacular".

Harvey Nichols
"Britalia"
60s
4 Nov 2016
While other brands shift towards heartwarming narratives and fake snow for the festive season, Harvey Nichols has eschewed the holiday aesthetic entirely and released an ad focusing on their range of Italian products in their Winter 2016 range. It's a shrewd move that makes their ad stand out from the crowd.., lots of shouting and breaking glass will tend to do that.

VW
"Barry's Golden Beetle"
2 mins 11s
4 Nov 2016
The VW Beetle's legacy has been beautifully tapped into by this online film from adam&eveDDB - Doyle Dane Bernbach's contemporary equivalent - which has been directed with great sensitivity and skill by documentarian Amanda Blue. The agency are never fearful of using sentimentality and this really seems to help them employ it effectively.

Temptations
"Keep Them Busy"
75s
2 Nov 2016
Temptations demonstrate why it's so important to keep your furry friends occupied this Christmas with an ad which shows exactly what kind of destruction can occur when pussies are on the loose (not grabbed, Donald). Director Sam Brown introduces an idyllic island of Christmas in the middle of an empty room, which remains beautifully constructed until a horde of cats are let into the room and do what they do best: ruin it.

Colman's
"Wedding"
10s
16 Oct 2016
Another fun 10" ad demonstrating the firepower behind Colman's mustard. This wedding guest gets more than she bargained for thanks to a dollop of the advertised condiment. Luckily, a nearby ice sculpture provides emergency relief. Despite her fetching wedding outfit, there's just no classy way of rubbing your tongue against a chunk of ice, is there?

VW Motability
"Brother and Sister"
2 mins 22s
14 Oct 2016
Amelia Hashemi's latest film for VW Motability depicts a sibling bond that takes a little time to thaw. A girl is disappointed when her older brother arrives to pick her up from a birthday party. Her attitude seems a tad harsh, though his choice of music leaves a lot to be desired. Brother knows best though - all it takes is some seagull trivia and ice cream to get things back on track.

Smithwick's Ale
"Home Brewers"
40s
13 Oct 2016
This appealing Smithwick’s ad captures the domestic alchemy of homebrewing. Forget hulking industrial vats and tanks - pots, pans, and bathtubs are the tools of the trade here. A dodgy pipe or a slight change in temperature are all that separate triumph and disaster. Through patience and a little improvisation, this lot enjoy liquid fulfilment. Now for the clean-up operation...

Haig Whisky
"Make Your Own Rules"
60s
12 Oct 2016
Haig want to throw away the rulebook on whisky in this ad for their new Clubman blend. A youthful but sultry female voiceover lists the received rules of whisky drinking to us - drink it neat, alone, in front of an open fire, whilst being a very manly man, to name but a few - accompanied by shots of bright young things doing the exact opposite of what they 'should'.

VW
"Mafia"
60s
10 Oct 2016
You'd think mafiosos would've learned by now never to accept a lift. Still, Mickey's happy to go for a ride in this latest Volkswagen ad promoting independent cinemas. At first, Mickey has no need to feel nervous. After all, it's just another car ride with Paulie - the latest in a long, distinguished line of Paulies - and Carmillo's suspiciously quiet son, right? Wrong!
