"Sky Cinema Sponsorship"
90s
3 March 2017
UK Power Utility Companies

Director Brad Lubin packs a punch with these brief idents for E.on's Sky Cinema sponsorship. Styled as mini movie tributes, the amusing films riff on sci-fi classics including The Matrix, Frankenstein, and RoboCop. Considering the energy provider are about to hike their prices, they may be relying pretty hard on the goodwill these playful spots create.

Ahh... the cupboard under the stairs - convenient dumping ground for everything from gym equipment to Harry Potter. This fun E.on commercial depicts what happens when we let said cupboard get the upper hand, and this chap is forced to navigate all sorts in search of the electricity meter. Good thing E.on have some smart solutions up their sleeve.

VW
"Car Karaoke"
75s
7 Jan 2017
Festive traffic jams are no concern for a musical family in this funny ad for VW. It's a familiar scene: kids bored in the back, parents equally bored in the front as the cars around them go nowhere. All that's missing is an 'are we nearly there yet?'. That is, until Dad decides to bust out some tunes and take a creative approach to killing time - one the rest of the family soon join in with.

Smart Energy GB
"Renter"

Flat-hunting's stressful enough without being given uber-vague details. When this woman asks her potential flatmates how much the rent is, they respond with some unorthodox parameters - like if she has a regular toothbrush or one that goes "vrrrr". Her befuddlement encapsulates why we should never tolerate estimates when it comes to our energy bills.

Unshackled
"Ladder"
47s
29 Nov 2016
More amusing antics from Unshackled as their galling salesman torments another customer. While he turns on his questionable charm, a giant parrot scales a ladder in the background. Once the mischievous bird has found its ideal vantage point, it lets nature take its course with impressive accuracy. Those similarly opposed to phone shop spiel are encouraged to visit the advertised website.

Unshackled
"Contract"

28 Nov 2016
Monty Python fans will tell you parrots and comedy go hand in hand. This oddball commercial for Unshackled carries on the tradition thanks to a well-pitched lead performance... and someone dressed up as a giant yellow parrot. While light on concrete details, the ad is intriguing enough to lodge the name in people’s minds.

Betsson
"Estate Agent"
30s
24 Nov 2016
Who knew estate agents had a fun-loving side? Online betting site Betsson aim to show everyone's a player in some shape or form. This couple is impressed by their dream home's storage space - though they didn't anticipate just how roomy the upstairs cupboard is. It's a fun pay-off, and the brand's play anywhere mentality comes across with a jolt.

Betsson
"Rubdown"
30s
24 Nov 2016
One of two Betsson ads encouraging us to indulge our childish impulses. Here, a locker room attendant makes things very awkward for the physio by swapping aggressive rap for sensual R&B. It's a familiar gag - sweaty men, touching, a subsequent misunderstanding - but the online betting site stays just on the right side of cheeky.

Short Films
"Clowns"
4 mins 06s
18 Nov 2016
Trust Cardinal Burns to see the funny side of the creepy clown craze. Coulrophobes may want to turn away, but for everyone else, this dark comedy reveals the root cause behind the phenomenon: geezers need excitement. What begins as a typical night on the prowl - anywhere but Hemel Hempstead - quickly turns into something from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

JD Sports
"Snow"
30s
11 Nov 2016
JD Sports remix another festive melody for this year's Christmas ad. The retailer continues their 'Undisputed Kings of Style' angle as well-known brands stand out among oversized baubles, and the distinctive production design does a good job of distinguishing them from other sports retailers. Smart, attractive and slickly done.

Virgin Active
"Meet The Squad"
30s
12 Sep 2016
After the recent David Lloyd ad, this commercial for Virgin Active provides further proof that gyms are upping their game when it comes to their advertising. Here, a young man's efforts to get fit are given the backing of the staff at the advertised facility as the VO describes what he has to face in the day ahead. It's a little reminiscent of this offering from a different corner of the Virgin empire.

E.on
"Kids' Party"
20s
20 Jul 2016
Given the limited resources available to director Brad Lubin, you have to hand it to him for this depiction of the aftermath of a dystopian birthday party. We only see two children but it looks as though the room has been visited by a zombie horde of the little blighters as the camera sweeps across it and reveals the source of the banging noise.

Nando's
"Napkin"
50s
28 Jun 2016
Another execution from the new campaign for Nando's which cleverly aims to bring a slightly more ambitious diner into their outlets. This time a young couple use napkins to make themselves look more posh which is a great way of using comedy to draw attention to the chain's slightly more upmarket offerings.

Nando's
"Fino Platter"
40s
28 Jun 2016
Earlier this year there was much hilarity on social media as Americans tried and failed to understand the concept of "a cheeky Nando's". The owners of the chicken restaurants must have enjoyed it... not least because you can't buy that kind of publicity. Neither can you buy a place in popular culture and Nando's enjoys this as well. It's the "turn to" reference of comedians like Jack Whitehall when they want to invoke a certain kind of dining experience.

The Body Shop
"Mother's Day"
55s
29 Feb 2016
Alison Jackson's signature brand of celebrity spoofery is used to humorous effect in this not-quite-regal Mother's Day ad for the Body Shop. Prince Charles's green-fingered reputation is played to the hilt as he tends to his prized roses - something of a love rival in the eyes of Camilla. Alas, mumsy's corgis do a demolition job on the rose bush, the little blighters.

Fisherman's Friend
"Alfie Boe"
30s
29 Feb 2016
Watching this, we can't help wondering where the old script for Tunes was found! Of course, the other campaign it brings to mind is a bit more modern... the inexplicably successful Go Compare! series featuring opera singer Gio Compario. It looks a mash-up of the two and it just about gets the job done without frightening the horses.

Nissan Leaf
"Cost"
65s
1 Feb 2016
So who would you choose to be the frontperson for an electric car? And not even a car from a stupendously sexy brand. The Nissan Leaf, to be precise. Surely you would want someone earnest but sincere; cheeky, but somehow radiating gravitas; a man - let's face it, it's going to be a man - who is level-headed but fervent enough to persuade us to take a journey with him to a shiny, eco-friendly new future.

Anne-Marie
"Do It Right"
3 mins 15s
18 Jan 2016
An appropriately sassy video for rising UK star Anne-Marie; previously part of Rudimental's collective. Triple world champion in shotokan karate (we're well impressed with that), she's branched out into a solo career in electronic R&B. Fans of her sound will no doubt love the attitude-packed vibe director Selina Miles gives this.

Samsung Galaxy
"Hodor"
60s
22 Nov 2015
Irish actor Kristian Nairn reprises his role in Game of Thrones in this direct assault on Apple by Samsung. Nairn wonders why they go to so much trouble if people are going to watch on devices with such poor resolution. The in-joke for fans of the series is that Nairn's character is almost completely silent - hence the glance to the side when he mentions all the lines he has to learn -making it quite funny to hear him eloquently berating the viewers for their poor choice of tablet.

The Body Shop
"Jingle Bells"
80s
4 Nov 2015
It's jingle all the way around the world in The Body Shop's bubbly Christmas ad. Full of festive cheer and lathered up with all manner of bathroom treats, this diverse bunch indulges in a lively rendition of 'Jingle Bells'. The energy on show here is great fun to watch with each cut taking us to a variety of bathrooms at home and abroad. Who said it had to be indoors?

John Lewis of Hungerford
"Christmas Cupcakes"
50s
2 Nov 2015
John Lewis of Hungerford have decided to cash in on their more famous namesake's reputation for creating the big Christmas ad by making their own this year. In a deliberate nod to the other John Lewis's fondness for sentimentality, it features a rather cynical look at parenting as a mum decides to forgo the sinister-looking cupcake made by her daughter in favour of something a bit more tempting.

EE
"Secret Footage"
82s
8 May 2015
As the dust settles on a momentous night in British politics with three party leaders (Miliband, Clegg and Farage) throwing in the towel before all the votes have even been counted, have a bit of fun with this brilliant viral for EE which purportedly shows the party leaders letting off a bit of stream after one of the televised debates.

A2 Milk
"Winner Drinks All"
40s
13 Mar 2015
A2 Milk is apparently easier to digest than normal cow's milk, although the small print in this ad warns that if you have pretty much any milk intolerance at all you still can't drink this. Nonetheless, this fun campaign is based around people drinking it with a greed and desperation you'd expect from a dessicated wanderer in the desert.

Skoda
"Attention Test"
75s
9 Mar 2015
This intriguing spot for the new Skoda Fabia asks us to take the attention test to see if we notice the changes made to the model. Changes are seemingly flagged up by the sudden switch to black that occurs momentarily throughout, and each time it happens we find ourselves focusing with renewed determination. But are things really as they seem?

Ovo
"One Way Relationship"
30s
16 Feb 2014
Another spot for the unfamiliar energy company Ovo, and this time it's a couple who requires counselling about the representative of other, uncaring companies. Timidly they explain they feel it's very much a one-way relationship, which has the rep bridling with indignation. This would be improved by a slicker execution - it's a dry script, for sure, but it's been slightly overdone.
