UK Broadband Providers

Everyone's given a misbehaving wi-fi router a frustrated thump or two from time to time, but Lego Batman takes the concept to his usual lengths in this ad for Sky Broadband. It's down to Alfred to call up the Sky team and fix things in the background, whilst Batman jumps on keyboards, disembowels equipment and starts fires in futile attempts to get the batcomputer back online.

B & Q
"Heather"
20s
10 Feb 2017
B&Q employee Heather is in her element in the DIY chain’s latest ad. This “human sat nav” shows she’s up to speed with the retailer’s latest deals on laminate flooring, emulsion, and garden furniture. A personable way of promoting the brand's wares, though the likes of Heather best get their slo-mo strut on as half-term approaches.

Sky Broadband
"Bat-Fans"
40s
13 Jan 2017
Sky Broadband insist they’ll visit nearly any household to provide technical support. Alas, the message doesn’t penetrate Lego Batman’s cowl. Meanwhile, The Dark Knight (voiced by Will Arnett) reveals his latest innovation: the Bat-Merch Gun. Not sure how much use that’ll be fighting criminals, but it ensures maximum coverage. Lovely nods to Batmobiles old and new in the background, too.

"Lonely Bat"

12 Jan 2017
Lego Batman's great wifi doesn't change the fact he spends his time in a damp cave and nobody wants to play with him. Unfortunately for the Sky Broadband tech team, this means he gets 'batbored' and rings them up for a chat frequently - even breaking his router on purpose for something to talk about. Maybe time for some batcounselling, Bruce.

BUPA
"Dancing"
60s
6 Jan 2017
A woman expresses herself on the dance floor in this uplifting yet understated BUPA commercial. Opening on her short journey from the drinks table, the array of emotions on her face suggest a far longer journey has taken place in her life. Then we learn she's had successful treatment for cancer, and understand we're witnessing her emergence from a long dark tunnel into the bright, welcome light of day.

Sky Broadband
"Lego Batman"
40s
5 Jan 2017
This entertaining ad claims Sky Broadband’s ‘Tech Team’ are the new heroes in town. Try telling that to everyone’s favourite brooding vigilante, Batman. While Sky’s sparks get on with the job, the Caped Crusader (voiced by Arrested Development’s Will Arnett) makes a nuisance of himself.

Santander
"Santa&deer"
30s
6 Dec 2016
Santander becomes 'Santa&deer' for this amusing Christmas ad. A panto-grade reindeer gambols soulfully across sweeping landscapes before its , er, drivers - Jenson Button and Jessica Ennis-Hill - suffer a wardrobe malfunction. While they get back on their hooves, the bank encourages customers to donate unwanted toys in exchange for chocolate coins.

B & Q
"Mandi"
20s
21 Nov 2016
B & Q add a festive spin to their in-store heroes series as we’re introduced to Mandi a.k.a. The Queen of Christmas (sorry, Mrs Claus). Trolley brimming with decorations, Mandi helps customers find everything from the right tree - be it magical or musical - to a glowing snowman. Perhaps Leicester City Council should've paid a visit before decorating their tree.

Sky Cinema
"Advent Calendar"
40s
8 Nov 2016
Sky suggests there's plenty in store for movie lovers this Christmas with this skillfully composed ad. Windows from an advent calendar open to a host of blockbuster titles - and each door is in keeping with the film's aesthetic. The calendar motif is a smart one, making the proposition instantly obvious and easy to remember.

Shuffle Cats
"Try Again"
30s
24 Oct 2016
One of two colourful ads for Shuffle Cats from Blink directing duo Los Pérez. Loading the featured rummy game transports these players to a Roaring Twenties-inspired club. Despite tasting early defeat, this man-bunned geezer makes a swift return to the action. His opponent? A woman with a love of retro tennis apparel.

24 Oct 2016
One of two colourful ads for Shuffle Cats from Blink directing duo Los Pérez. Loading the rummy game transports these players to a Roaring Twenties-inspired club. Once there, only smart play stops from you from exploding in a cloud of confetti. It's another time-killing app at the end of the day, though Los Pérez can always be relied upon to create a vibrant world.

McCoy's Thick Cut
"Gary"
30s
22 Sep 2016
Unassuming newsagent patron Gary is the latest to receive a call from Flavour in this new addition to WCRS's humorous McCoy's campaign. Upon picking up a packet of the brand's new Thick Cut crisps, a golden telephone appears from nowhere to give sage advice to the man. The newsagent's silent encouragement is lovely, while the script's talk of brains and guts earns some tasty laughs.

Santander
"Android Pay"
30s
22 Sep 2016
Santander lets us know that they now support Android Pay with this ad starring a little girl full of youthful brio. While mum and dad do their best to keep up with their pocket-sized dynamo, at least they can make payments on the move with the advertised app. As mobile banking continues to grow, this ad shows the bank is looking to get Android customers on-side as soon as possible.

B & Q
"Louis"
30s
13 Sep 2016
B & Q introduces another in-store hero wearing the retailer's orange apron like a boss. Louis struts through the kitchen department in slow motion while the VO uses a variety of cooking-inspired terms to describe his prowess. While Louis walks the walk, he's also got the right attitude when it comes to helping customers with their kitchen design queries.

Sprintathon
"Marlow Marathon"
2 mins 13s
12 Sep 2016
This may be bonkers but it's also extremely charming and it moves along at such a pace that you barely even notice more than two minutes have passed before you get to the end. It introduces us to Dr Glenneth Benson who is a "sports scientist to the stars" and he explains how he's organised an attempt on the world record for a relay-run marathon.

Sky Broadband
"Dinner Plans"
40s
31 Aug 2016
Sky enlist the cast from 'The Secret Life of Pets' again for this commercial, which focuses on their line rental packages offering free calls to mobiles. It's sweetly done and once again emphasizes Sky's clout by reminding us of their association with the biggest box office films, even when that's not the point of the communication.

B & Q
"Clark"
20s
18 Aug 2016
B & Q change course from their cast of animal DIY enthusiasts to focus on the in-store heroes who make our home improvement whims a reality. This execution introduces us to Clark in all his slow-motion glory as he helps customers find the right shade and the right brush for the job. A less furry direction for the retailer, but it should help remind punters to get their painterly essentials ready for the bank holiday weekend.

NHS Blood and Transplant
"Missing Type"
30s
16 Aug 2016
A second helping of the campaign which uses missing letters to draw attention to the shortage of blood donors. Austere in tone, it makes its point very cleverly and will - we'd imagine - persuade occasional donors to step up their game. Good to see other WCRS clients backing this campaign by allowing their brand names to be used in this.

Churchill
"Diva Soft Top"
30s
15 Aug 2016
This Churchill campaign continues to anthropomorphize vehicles and in-car paraphernalia in charming fashion. A glamorous cabriolet is used to the finer things in the life, so she's understandably peeved at breaking down on a country lane. Still, she does catch a glimpse of that tasty 4x4 from up the road... even if Churchie's less than optimistic about her romantic prospects.

Farm Heroes Super Saga
"Ferris Wheel"
45s
29 Jul 2016
Disaster strikes at the county fair when a cowboy finds himself dangling from the big wheel. Luckily, a quick-thinking player of Farm Heroes Super Saga manages to summon a giant plum to save the day. Her rescue effort is helpfully accompanied by a super advising "do not attempt" - after all, you would look like a pillock if you tried to avert catastrophe with pixelated fruit.

RAF
"Get Far Fast"
60s
1 Aug 2016
Having worked wonders for the Royal Navy in recent times, WCRS look to the skies as the Royal Air Force aim to persuade capable youngsters that a vocation with a difference awaits. This pacy launch film follows nineteen-year-old Ellie as she transforms her prospects from the ground up. It's a formidable working environment, but a skyward glance is enough to remind her and her colleagues what the effort is all about

E.on
"Kids' Party"
20s
20 Jul 2016
Given the limited resources available to director Brad Lubin, you have to hand it to him for this depiction of the aftermath of a dystopian birthday party. We only see two children but it looks as though the room has been visited by a zombie horde of the little blighters as the camera sweeps across it and reveals the source of the banging noise.

Sky Cinema
"Dust"
40s
8 Jul 2016
Magical shapes form from the dust particles lit by a projector in this clever ad for Sky Cinema, which seeks to forge a connection between the big screens that typically dominate our living rooms and our collective affection for the experience of going to the pictures. Add a few classic movie soundbites and you have a winning slice of nostalgia to emphasise Sky's place in our relationship with film.

HMRC
"Tea Time"
20s
4 Jul 2016
HMRC return to their series of gently observed scenes depicting life outside the 9-5 lane. Despite this shift worker's exhaustion, she still finds time to enjoy a tea party with her daughter on the bedroom floor before dawn. With the deadline for renewing tax credits arriving on July 31st, the taxman aims to divert as much of the relevant audience as possible to the HMRC website and away from their fragile helplines.

Sky Broadband
"Lazy Broadband"
40s
28 Jun 2016
Having trumped 'Independence Day: Resurgence' at the UK box office, you'd think the cast of animated flick 'The Secret Life of Pets' would have earned a reliable broadband service. Alas, Basset Hound Pops has his eyes opened in more ways than one by the buffering screen in front of him. To make sure this dog has its day, his companions unsurprisingly recommend switching to Sky Broadband.
