"Spies Teaser"

9 Dec 2016
Channel 4 leak some intriguing intel on a project airing in the new year. We don't know if the broadcaster is risking life and limb bringing us information on 'Spies', but we "already know too much" according to the on-screen text. The viewer's mission (whether they choose to accept it or not) is to sit tight until January and await further instructions.

Channel 4
"Connections to 4"
65s
29 Nov 2016
Channel 4's cultural importance has been reinvigorated by its coverage of the Paralympics and it has built on a legacy of inclusiveness at a time when we need the values it espouses more than ever. This film reminds us of the meaning of '4' as it attaches itself to those whose voices wouldn't necessarily be heard with the broadcaster's commitment to diversity.

Channel 4
"Voices of 4"

17 Nov 2016
This film introduces another diverse cast of continuity announcers. From a drag queen introducing Gogglebox, to the UK’s only Manx Gaelic class presenting The Simpsons, they’re all connected by the number - you guessed it - four. Like Channel 4’s recent visit to Leicester's Narborough Street, these vignettes let both personalities and inclusivity shine.

3 Nov 2016
4Creative has produced a new four-part short-form series starting Grayson Perry, which have the artist discussing his own gender identity and meeting people from the trans community who've had to take risks to be themselves. It's the latest in Channel 4's Born Risky series, which has repeatedly pushed boundaries for the LGBT community (memorably with Gay Mountain, a trail created to support gay athletes competing at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games).

Channel 4
"Fright Bites"
20s
26 Oct 2016
Channel 4 promise to deliver some short sharp shocks in this ad for their 'Fright Bites' series of short horror films. The sinister six range from four to six minutes, playing on common fears such as handsy spirits and crazy old ladies. The clown episode might be a wee bit dicey given the current epidemic of weirdos in masks scaring the pants off people, but the rest leave a lovely chill behind. Might be keeping the lights on tonight.

Stand Up To Cancer
"John Bishop and Jose Mourinho"
56s
19 Oct 2016
This lovely plug for Stand Up To Cancer pits John Bishop and Jose Mourinho against one another in a gruelling 'bad joke battle'. Both participants make strong starts as they exchange Christmas cracker-grade gags, but it's the Manchester United manager who breaks first. An on-form Mourinho is typically good value, and his peal of laughter here is priceless.

17 Oct 2016
Film Four celebrate the spookiest time of the year with this cracking animated film advertising the channel's temporary rebranding as 'Film Fear' for a week of horror movies leading up to Halloween. Starting with innocuous film scenes (romance, space), soon the colour palette shifts and shadow puppets act out classic horror tropes to great effect.

Hollyoaks

Hollyoaks do the monster mash with this creepy promo for their Halloween extravaganza. We leave a subdued costume party and stumble into a spooky alternate reality. Our characters are trapped in an invisible maze, the unsettling soundtrack - a call-back to classic horror 'The Exorcist' - picking up as they try to break free of their supernatural prison.

SAS: Who Dares Wins

Channel 4 suggests military-grade thrills with this trail for SAS: Who Dares Wins. The camera remains locked on these contestants' eyes as their initial shock and terror slowly turns to resolve. The visuals capture the sensory barrage awaiting those looking to prove their mettle in the programme, while '2020' by Suuns is an apt track choice with its spiralling notes and throbbing beat.

Roald Dahl's Most Marvellous Book
"Choices"
40s
2 Sep 2016
Roald Dahl's enduring influence on readers both young and old is conveyed in this chirpy trail for Channel 4's Roald Dahl's Most Marvellous Books. The programme boasts an impressive array of contributors championing their favourite Dahl works. Given he's recently directed a big-budget adaptation of 'The BFG', no prizes for guessing which book Steven Spielberg is backing.

The Last Leg
"Rio"
30s
2 Sep 2016
Just one of many success stories from the 2012 Paralympic Games was Channel 4's The Last Leg, and the programme returns to its sporting roots with Rio 2016. While regulars Alex Brooker and Josh Widdicombe adopt a restrained manner at the airport, host Adam Hills is full of the Brazilian spirit as he rides down the escalator in a gold and green number. We're sure he's packed a change of outfit, though.

Film 4
"Claps"
40s
31 Aug 2016
Film 4 enlist another impressive crop of big-screen talent to get clapping on camera. The likes of Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, and Brie Larson contribute to Dave Brubeck's 'Unsquare Dance' before everyone decides to kick back and chat to whoever's behind the lens. Only Emily Blunt knows what's so astonishing about the set-up, but the viewer is left in little doubt about the star quality of the channel.

E4
"Celebs Go Dating"
40s
17 Aug 2016
Joey Essex provides us with an early "wallop!" in this trail for E4's Celebs Go Dating. The TOWIE alum along with the likes of Charlotte Crosby and Tyger Drew-Honey (we're sure someone out there can name the entire roster) are all looking for a little romance and the medium of television is conveniently the best means of finding it. It's easy to lose track of the number of televised dating shows, but this variation should attract the reality TV crowd.

Channel 4
"Leicester Announcers"
60s
1 Aug 2016
While the lot of LGBT people, disabled people, non-white people and women has - to a greater or lesser extent - improved since Channel 4's foundation in 1982, recent events have illustrated the underlying fragility of this progress. So what better time to celebrate the diversity found in multi-cultural Leicester?

Channel 4
"Book Shop"
20s
26 Jul 2016
We'd love to know what Dylan Moran's morose bookseller, Bernard Black, would make of chirpy Ian here. The proprietor of Tin Drum Books continues Channel 4's experiment on Leicester's Narborough Road by announcing one of the broadcaster's programmes. In this instance, it's The Job Interview - an ordeal Ian happily hasn't endured for forty-eight years.

Channel 4
"Luigi"
30s
26 Jul 2016
Channel 4's trip along Leicester's Narborough Street takes them to Luigi's barbershop, where the silver-haired snipper has a go at introducing Child Genius to the viewing masses. While the broadcaster's usual announcers needn't fear for their long-term employment, we can't help but appreciate Luigi's insistence that his hair looks good for the cameras. Most professional.

90s
22 Jul 2016
The steely yet loving bond between wheelchair athlete Hannah Cockroft and her father is portrayed well in this latest profile on one of Team GB's Paralympic contenders. Allianz
"Georgie Hermitage"
90s
19 Jul 2016
Paralympic hopeful Georgie Hermitage describes how her place at Rio 2016 has resulted from revisiting the pursuit she fell in love with as a youngster. Having been put off by her coach's suggestion that she switch to parasports, a ten-year absence from athletics followed. However, Hermitage's desire to realise her potential and set an example for her daughter has inspired this stab at glory. A strong insight into an athlete's motivations.

Allianz

Allianz's series of short films continue to enthral with their depictions of Paralympic courage. Being a Paralympian isn't about what you're missing, but about what you have - and Ali Jawad has a gift for powerlifting weights. Despite being born without legs and given shocking life prospects at birth, every day is a feat of physical mastery from Jawad. As such, the sights and sounds of his gym routine are captured with raw intensity by director Stewart Sugg.
