Bodyform
"Trapeze"
30s

UK Sanitary Protection

While this doesn't have the visceral grit of the 'Blood' commercial that preceded it, it's coming from the same place and - in it's own way - it's just as confronting.

From what we see here, we have to assume that Bodyform is the brand of choice for female trapeze artists... so it should more than suffice for the ordinary earthbound woman of menstruating age.

Much of its potency comes from the POV filming. And, impressive as this is during the aerial sequences, it's actually the sight of a woman sat on the loo and readying a sanitary towel that provides the most startling moment. Because - believe it or not - this has not been seen before in a commercial for a product in this sector.

Most of the names in the credits are female which is an obvious move and it's seriously good to see the advertising for sanitary protection being dragged into the 21st century. Let's hope it has a big impact on sales and others follow where Bodyform have led.

Mercedes-Benz
"Jack"
30s
6 Apr 2016
Younger siblings will appreciate this ad for Mercedes-Benz which captures the ignominy of receiving the leftovers - something poor Jack here knows all too well. Tatty football boots, oversized clothes, a CD player in the MP3 age... it's an inventory that would struggle at a car boot sale. Luckily, Mercedes-Benz treat their used vehicles with more prestige.

Tena For Men

After his show-stopping introduction earlier this year, Tena For Menís Stirling Gravitas has become the saviour for incontinence control. Look the words up in the dictionary and youíll find his satisfied face next to them. In another terrific Jeff Low-directed outing, Stirling demonstrates just how unflappable he is in the face ofÖ well, everything.

Tena For Men
"Clench"
45s
6 May 2015
Stirling Gravitas finds himself up a tree in this latest outing for the man who has no time for incontinence. With his trademark brio, he passes on some helpful advice about pelvic floor exercises designed to help strengthen your defence against urine leakage. Used alongside the advertised product, you're a step closer to living life the Stirling way. Remember now: "Clench!"

It's a welcome return for Stirling Gravitas as he suggests methods of controlling urine leakage the only way he knows how: through suave bombast. While we're a little taken aback by Stirling's shift from feats of amazement to outright vandalism, the priceless delivery of the script once again ups the standard for advertisements of this type of product.

Currys PC World
"Metaller"
40s
15 Mar 2015
One of the three new spots from Currys PC World which explains that the retailer understands our needs as customers. Just because we can't lead the life of our dreams doesn't mean we can't have the tech that would make our humdrum realities better. There's lovely attention to detail in this - just look at the socks'n'shoes combo. It says so much in a single moment.

Currys PC World
"Pina Colada"
40s
15 Mar 2015
One of three amusing new spots for Curry PC World in which the retailer conveys its understanding of its customers - whose difference between the life they dream about and the life they actually live is a yawning chasm. In this ad, a woman gazes with tender pride at her gleaming new fridge, imagining a glamorous world of pina coladas and handsome men.

"Souffle"

14 Mar 2015
This sterling ad is one of three new spots for the brand, designed to show that Currys PC World is in tune with its customers' needs. Here, a dad is inspired by his new integrated oven, and we're swept into his flight of fancy that he could be the world's hottest, most commanding chef. A supremely silly script has been beautifully delivered.

Incontinence control. Surely there's no fun to be had with this? Wrong. Tena For Men have a secret weapon for promoting their product with wit and charm. Enter Stirling Gravitas - a gentleman for whom winning is as natural as breathing. A montage of awesomeness underlines how not even urine leakage can faze him.

Kids Company
"See The Child"
75s
19 Aug 2014
This spot for charity Kids Company is stark, grim and relentless... yet compels you to watch despite yourself. A small girl - unseen - tells us to witness the existence she led, and how its direction was shaped. The repetition of language used and the monotony of the girl's intonation convey the numbness that such a life would produce.

"Car Wash"

This clever stunt is one that will never be forgotten by those who were caught up in it - and will probably start choosing the motor oil in question as a fond reminder. Unsuspecting members of the public roll up to their local car wash only to find their vehicle suddenly at the centre of a F1-style team cleaning, waxing and servicing like there's no tomorrow.

Aviva
"ITV Drama Premiere Sponsorship"
1 min 50s
18 Dec 2011
Domestic situations are made to look dramatic in this series of bumpers advertising Aviva's sponsorship of ITV's output. They're quite slight but at least there's enough of them to avoid too much repetition when they're wrapped around the programmes.

BT
"Light Stream"
40s
1 Aug 2011
Streams of light represent the various things you can do online in this ad focusing on BT's broadband offer. There's only a peripheral role for Jane (Esther Hall) and none at all for Adam (Kris Marshall)... which seems surprising after such an effort was made to stoke up interest in their 'wedding'.

Sainsbury's
"Invisible Equipment"
30s
9 Feb 2011
His tongue may be thick but his heart is big and Jamie Oliver is often at his best when stoking the enthusiasm of children. The unusual music choice pays off too (even if it does sound like they're chanting something about Domino Pizza).

Twinings
"Light & Delicate"

19 Nov 2010
This is one of a pair of new commercials advertising one of the more exotic blends available from the posh tea manufacturers. This time it's green tea that's being advertised and, at least, this really is tea. The ad has a very gentle tone which is plainly designed to chime with the relaxing experience of drinking the advertised product.

Twinings
"Floral Range"
10s
19 Nov 2010
This is one of a pair of new commercials advertising one of the more exotic blends available from the posh tea manufacturers. The word tea seems pretty arguable if the resulting drink doesn't contain tea and it seems odd that it has become a generic word while, say, coffee is sensibly reserved for drinks containing coffee.

Birds Eye Simply Fish
"Cheat"
30s
25 May 2009
The company that introduced 'boil in the bag' have moved on to 'bake in the bag'. For those who find the business of wrapping a piece of fish in some foil a bit too complicated, Birds Eye have come up with the perfect solution.

Birds Eye
"The Simply Range"
30s
4 May 2009
This ad neatly cocks a snoop at the idea that we have time to follow the advice of TV chefs and pop down to the local fish market at the crack of dawn. Instead of bothering with that nonsense we can buy this poor substitute.... a very seductive pitch.

Walkers Sensations
"Let Flavour Unfold"
30s
3 Mar 2009
Unusual performers represent the different flavours available in the Walkers Sensations range. Stylishly filmed in order to emphasis the fact that this is the crisp company's upmarket range, this ad is mercifully free of Gary Lineke

Digital Switch Over
"Pete"
40s
12 Jan 2009
Pete is blind and therefore entitled to help with digital switch over. He explains this to a friend as both enjoy a pint and mock the inadequate electrical skills of Pete's guide dog... not necessarily a wise move - let's hope the mutt isn't so put out that he leads his master under a bus.

Digital Switch Over
"Three Ways To Switch"
60s
15 Jul 2008
The three methods of switching from analogue to digital are highlighted in the ongoing campaign which has one man and his robot touring the country to spread the word. They are in Scotland in this instalment which gives the robot the opportunity to take a peak up a kilt and look suitably embarrassed.

BSM
"Skins Sponsorship"
60s
6 Mar 2008
A series of fly-on-the-wall documentary bumpers advertise BSM's ongoing sponsorship of the cult E4 youth drama. They vary in character but each, in its own way, celebrates the joy and freedom given to young people by the ability to drive. A good choice of this audience and.
