We've now seen The National Lottery's Katie Price 'KTV' channel in various guises since it launched last summer, but the concept manages to lend itself well to the bumper format. With each ad break for Britain's Got Talent, we get a glimpse at what a Katie Price-laden schedule would look like, including sports reporting that makes Alan Partridge look a broadcast heavyweight.

10 Dec 2015
This latest road safety film features Malcolm; another individual left isolated and chastised by those around him. His promising career trajectory has taken a dive and he's left photocopying the day away. Why? All because he refused to have a drink. The ad shrewdly highlights the effect that peer pressure can have at this time of the year.

This public information film features Brendan. Brendan is in the doghouse. Why? No, not because he recklessly decided to drive after a drink. It's because he didn't... leaving his missus, Sandra, to walk home from the train station in torrential rain. As you can see, Sandra is not best pleased. What makes it such a powerful message is that it looks at the consequences of such a choice and legitimises the drinker's refusal to get behind the wheel.

As with the previous executions, the broadcast version of the new National Lottery film gives us a taste of what's in store if we watch the extended version. Vinnie Jones wants to spend his lottery windfall on a plan to channel everyone's anger into a new energy source and this lovely piece of tomfoolery explains how he's going to do it.

This is the campaign that keeps on giving. It's not often these days that agencies carry on delivering on a promising conceit but you have to hand it to AMV: the second wave of 'please don't let it be them' is every bit as good as the first. Much of the credit for that belongs to director Jeff Low who has coaxed wonderful pieces of self-deprecation from the subjects of these films.

Another fine helping of fun courtesy of the excellent new campaign for the National Lottery. This time Noel Edmonds sends up his own image with a greedy plan to cash in on his association with the concept of the 'house party'. Given some of Edmonds's strange political views, this could have been a whole lot darker!

AMV and Biscuit's Jeff Low have saved the best until last. Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen (LLB) leaves Piers Morgan and Katie Price trailing in his wake as he mercilessly sends himself up on behalf of the National Lottery. Laurence Llewelyn Bowen's comedy version of himself - on the other hand - is merely him with the volume turned up to eleven.

"Piers Morgan (Extended Version)"

The extended version of The National Lottery spot featuring Piers Morgan, is - it has to be said - even better than the broadcast spot. Much as we hate to admit it, he plays the part frighteningly well, and the various scenarios bear the weight of additional time without sagging in the slightest - all of which goes to show how strong a piece of work this is.

Another entertaining ad for The National Lottery focuses on fame-hungry Katie Price, and the dreams she plans to realise on scooping a massive prize. Hats off again to Jeff Low for evidently putting her at ease enough to enjoy running with the gag... she proves herself very game, and her limitations - both acting and expression-wise - are key to the fun.

Piers Morgan trades on his reputation in this clever ad for the National Lottery which suggests his egotism would know no bounds if he were to win a big prize. The idea that we should buy a ticket to make that less likely isn't mathematically sound but is nonetheless persuasive as surely we would all do anything to stop the former newspaper editor from pushing ahead with the tongue-in-cheek plans he outlines in this commercial.

"Alan Shearer's First Game"

This is a lovely idea and a lot of love has gone into it but it looks like each of the people required to play themselves (including Match of the Day's Alan Shearer) weren't as comfortable in front of the camera as you might hope and their contributions weigh it down. Still, we can imagine devotees of Newcastle United will love it nonetheless.

Barclays
"Christmas Skype Call"
90s
26 Dec 2014
This is a follow-up to an earlier ad where the lovely old chap in question is taught by a Barclays Digital Eagle to use Skype for the first time. It's not only beautifully realised but also very clever, as it manages to communicate the same message - the only difference being that he's unsure how to use Skype on his new tablet rather than his computer.

"There's Joy in the Blend"

16 Nov 2014
You have to hand it to J2O for inventiveness: combining breakdancing with old Irish folk dancing is not something you expect to see every day. But this blend of rollicking fiddles and eye-watering moves stands as a visual metaphor for the unexpected flavour combinations in a bottle of the drink in question; and if it's as unusual as the scene suggests it'll be one helluva beverage.

A shrewd little number dressed up as cosy altruism, which has a 'Digital Eagle' showing an oldster how to Skype. She's actually there in person, in his home, helping him get in touch with family and friends - not what you'd expect from your average financial institute, eh? We can just imagine the ears of pensioners and offspring alike pricking up as they consider the advantages of a bank that not only offers online facilities but sends someone round to help the less au fait understand how to use digital media.

It would appear from this spot that people stuck in certain industries have either no or very little experience with computers, which could be problematic when trying to manage their finances. So Barclays has created a team they call their 'digital eagles' who are dedicated to helping others become familiar with online banking. Why 'eagles', though? That rather implies they swoop down, carry off the vulnerable and feed them to their voracious chicks.

Never ones to be outdone by possible competitors, Posh Supermarket is not only promoting a Heston Blumenthal-concocted Valentine's menu, but also suggests it's so good he may as well be serving it to you in person. Just look at the painstaking way he bends over than main course! Just listen to him summonsing the pannacottas! All this without even having to buy your own kitchen blowtorch. A bargain... and the food looks gorgeous.

There are certain advertising industry collaborations that are like showbiz marriages... tempestuous and difficult perhaps but always ensuring a higher profile for all involved. And when these particular relationships appear to have come to an end, you always suspect that the gravitational pull of prior success will ensure a fruitful reunion in the future.

We sometimes forget just how successful football's Premier League is as an international brand. While a special commission is about to start examining the reasons why England is unable to challenge meaningfully at World Cups and European Championships, the country's elite competition goes from strength to strength and its universal appeal is beautifully illustrated by this lovely ad made by Academy's Seb Edwards.

If this chap looks familiar to you, it may be because you've seen his head sitting on the back of a giant tortoise on the El Paso plains. Fans of Breaking Bad everywhere will appreciate the reference, and Danny Trejo plays his role here with suitable pantomime menace, wielding a cleaver as he cooks for his family.

Heston Blumenthal's relationship with Waitrose grows ever tighter with the appearance of his own range of convenience meals at the supermarket. This neatly put together commercial manages to suggest that Blumenthal puts together every single one of the meals personally. Don't like the way he wipes that knife though.

The shortened version of this awareness film made for St John ambulance has just as much impact as the original. And because it takes less time to establish its central premise, it's the better bet as far as repeated viewing is concerned. Its broadcast allows us to say once again that this is a terrific piece of work.

The extraordinary achievement of this film is the manner in which it manages to transmit the sense of helplessness on-screen to the viewer. A man who has survived the very worst that life can deliver is brought to his knees by a medical crisis that would be easily resolved by someone with the required skills.

This clever ad for Audi draws attention to the intelligent use of technology incorporated into the advertised vehicle. Shot in black and white, it stylishly demonstrates how the car is able to continually guide the driver and helps to keep him or her safe and comfortable.

A new variant of Alpen is designed to be "bunged in the microwave" and this ad aims to simultaneously emphasise its wholesome credentials and debunk the idea that it's a poncy cereal. A tough ask, you might think, but this does the job rather nicely.

This isn't really advertising a particular web browser so much as the Internet itself. The young man receives a video camera as a birthday present and then uses it to create content which he uploads... most people probably know that you can do this.
