Parker from Thunderbirds wins £500,000 in Halifax's prize draw and knows exactly what to do with the money... head to a tropical island where he can get away from the orders being issued by Lady Penelope. Let's hope he hasn't ended up on Tracy Island as he may find he's leapt from the frying pan only to end up in the fire. Brimming with authenticity.

"Top Cat Bloopers"

3 Mar 2017
Here’s a selection of ‘outtakes’ from Halifax’s Top Cat ad which gives us a glimpse into how animated the feline gang get when things go off-script. Of course, Top Cat remains the consummate professional while his fellow cast members fluff their lines. These bloopers accompany the main ad in cinemas, which should give audiences a chuckle before the main feature.

O2
"Follow the Rabbit"

2 Mar 2017
O2 introduce a brand new animal mascot in this intriguing ad for their 'un-rewindable' live experiences across the UK. We get a good long look at the stunningly animated little fella as we're asked if we're the kind of person who'll follow our curiosity - or will it be another night on the sofa for us?

Halifax continue raiding the Hanna-Barbera vault by bringing Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Incorporated gang to life. While evading a pesky mummy, Scoob and Shaggy learn about the rewards available to current account customers. We can only assume the unmasked 'mummy' at the end is a dastardly employee of a rival high street bank.

Heathrow Airport
"Best Gift of All"

14 Nov 2016
It's fair to say not everyone will embrace Heathrow's Christmas cheer... particularly those living on the site of the airport's planned third runway. The issue will remain divisive into the New Year and beyond, but the airport's festive ad is a cuddly gem. Teddy bears won’t be enough to sway the anti-runway brigade, but their message of bringing families together with ease should travel well.

Heathrow Airport
"When I Live My Dream"
90s
17 Jul 2016
This charming celebration of Heathrow Airport's first seventy years featuring an early David Bowie song concentrates on a young girl's first experience of Britain's busiest transport hub. Luckily for her, it looks as though she must have arrived a few minutes after a major security alert as she and her family appear to have the place to themselves!

"The Flintstones"

Halifax once again raid the Hanna-Barbera vaults with due care and affection as Fred and WIlma Flintstone decide to switch to a bank with a twenty-first century approach to customer service. Despite an inauspicious encounter with the branch's see-through door, Fred quickly warms to the affable adviser who details the bank's £125 welcome bonus for switchers.

Halifax have turned to Hanna-Barbera's cult classic Top Cat to help them demonstrate that they're thoroughly decent when it comes to lending money for mortgages. The mischievous feline uses a sob story to gain the sympathy of the Halifax staffer helping with his application, though - it has to be said - it's hard to win over an algorithm and human decision-making has all but been eliminated from the mortgage application process these days!

B & Q
"Koalas"

3 Apr 2016
Considering these koalas' affinity for the barbie, perhaps moving to the changeable conditions of the UK wasn't the wisest idea. Regardless, it's not enough to deter the human-sized marsupials from sprucing up their back garden for social gatherings. Funnily enough, it's the first time in this fun series the voices have 'matched' the animal.

"More Beavering"

More easy-going chatter from B&Q's home improvement-conscious rodents as their thoughts now turn to the garden. As Mrs Beaver tends to the new lawnmower, we learn Mr Beaver is always keen to take advantage of the DIY retailer's deals. While spring hasn't fully sprung just yet, the brand once again posit themselves as the ideal destination for those keen to exercise their green fingers.

B & Q
"Beavers"

23 Mar 2016
B & Q's DIY animal kingdom grows with the addition of Mr and Mrs Beaver - and they do the industrious reputation of their species no harm at all. The fact that two human-sized beavers shopping for peat is of no consequence to fellow customers works nicely, and their easy charm allows the ad to balance entertainment and talk of flooring offers with ease.

WCRS have made an inspired choice for the new colour spokesperson at B & Q... a debonair zebra determined to get away from the 'black and white' choices of his parents. There were many ways they could have brought the equine character to life and we thoroughly approve of their choice... having a human body with a zebra head allows him to interact with the staff at B & Q as though nothing is out of the ordinary.

Chemical Brothers
"Wide Open ft Beck"

26 Jan 2016
Mrs DAVID has always had a soft spot for The Chemical Brothers and is an almost obsessive Beck fan, so she was hoping this track would be amazing. As it is, the track never quite gets going - but is nonetheless a very pleasant listen. However, Dom&Nic's accompanying promo is a feat of technical genius - a lot of very intensive work must have gone into this.

Mars Celebrations
"Christmas Tree"
30s
1 Nov 2015
The Christmas tree ornaments cannot resist the lure of Mars Celebrations sat beneath them so they get themselves organised in this charming Yuletide film. It's the fabulous detail provided by directors Dom & Nic that really brings this to life... when the heroic quintet are interrupted, you can feel them trying to hold everything together and the tension is palpable.

A trusting dog who is no longer in the first flush of youth gazes serenely out of a car window as he's ferried along on a journey. When his owner stops, the dog climbs out... only to be left by a pile of junk at the roadside as the man drives off. There's no need for a VO here as we all understand what's happened, and what we can do to help.

"I Will Survive"

5 Sep 2015
A scruffy mutt escapes the tyranny of his evil owners and wanders the night-time streets; his mournful eyes casting about for signs of a source of kindness. As he pads along in his loneliness, staring in through the windows of homes where dogs co-exist happily with their humans, he begins to croon a version of 'I Will Survive' in defiance.

The permanently harassed Frilly the lizard encounters yet more frustration as he winds up in the bin. Fortunately, First Direct will make sure he never feels like rubbish as a customer of theirs. Keen-eyed viewers will spot Frilly's tarsier flatmate routing through his vinyl collection. Hopefully he's picking out some ambient sounds to soothe his scaly friend.

McLaren continue their 'Black Swan Moments' campaign with this ad showing the aforementioned bird being subjected to a session in the supercar manufacturer's wind tunnel. Our feathered friend copes impressively with the number of G forces being flung at him, and as the air calms, the end result is a shot of the new 570S model.

We had a bit of debate at DAVID HQ on the wording here. It must be Join First Direct and we'll give you £125 but it does sound an awful lot like 'join First Direct or we'll give you a £125'. Either way, it's probably not the right time for First Direct - part of HSBC - to market itself as an alternative for those fed up with their bank... the whole country's pissed off with them at the moment.

Frilly is fed up. He cannot for the life of him get the lid off the cookie jar. It remains resolutely closed; just like some banks are whenever you have the spare time to pop in. They really take the biscuit, don't they? Fortunately, First Direct is always open so you don't have that problem. Poor old Frilly, though; he definitely needs to put his biscuits somewhere else.

Lenovo
"Ashton's Goat"
30s
22 Oct 2014
Very nice indeed - simple, silly, and single-minded. This spot for Lenovo has Mr Kutcher listening to lite classical and checking his stocks and shares while eating his breakfast cereal. All very grown-up and middle class, we're led to believe... until the camera pulls back and we see he's milking a goat straight into his bowl. That's obviously just what he likes to do; and thanks to the notebook's ergonomics, he can milk and read simultaneously.

Heinz Tomato Ketchup
"Bring Food To Life"
30s
1 Oct 2014
Heinz have followed up their 2009 commercial for tomato ketchup with another that similarly demonstrates it to be the vital missing ingredient that brings food to life. This time the food it's added to is invisible until the sauce is layered on top. It's actually a more logical metaphor than the previous ad and is another outstanding example of how advertising can underline a product's essentialness.

"Little Frill"

21 Sep 2014
First Direct has already proved that you don't have to sound earnest and servile as a bank if you have a sterling reputation for customer service. So, building on its 'unexpected' theme, it's moved on from Barry the platypus (much loved by the public) to a frilled lizard with a penchant for pizza and a tiny tarsier DJ as a flat mate.

"Male Eggs"
10s
27 Jan 2014
It's been a while since we first saw First Direct's amiable platypus brand ambassador. This 10" spot picks up almost where the 60" ad left off, which means he's been at the bar an awfully long time. No wonder he's confused. Does he lay eggs? Is he male? Someone should really take pity on him and get him to rehab before he starts thinking he's Humpty Dumpty, poor soul.

NHS Anti-Smoking
"See the Damage"

30 Dec 2013
Hmmm. This has gone for the visceral approach by zooming in on a long-suffering lung. As it slowly succumbs to the effects of its owner's smoking habit, the blood supply becomes increasingly viscous and we're told that if we could see it with our own eyes we'd stop. It's a recurring theme in this campaign which suggests it's having some success.
