UK Dishwasher Detergent

Finish’s ‘Who Cleans The Cleaner?’ campaign continues to stand tall in this sector. This latest instalment focuses on, erm, fusion cuisine. Caesar salad and orange jelly, scrambled eggs with cat food, baby milk and tuna bake… no, it’s not a Heston Blumenthal set menu, it's just some of the unedifying things that nestle beside one another in the dishwasher.

The work that has gone into this has really paid off. Dirty pans, crocks and cutlery meld into each other as they gently fall against a spotlit backdrop to make an art form of food leftovers. In turn, these images create a great contrast with the scenarios that led to them - stylised settings inhabited by memorable characters made flesh by Riff Raff’s The Sacred Egg. The directorial duo place a heavy emphasis on production design... as you may remember, they were recently responsible for MailChimp’s kale dogs. That's something you don't forget once you see it.

Meanwhile, the avuncular VO still relishes the leftovers, extracting every morsel from a fun script: “The goo. The gunk. The yuck!” His delivery adds further texture to the meticulous visuals.

The brand has very much mastered the formula at this point. While the elements are familiar, this campaign manages to keep them fresh and playfully suggests your dishwasher will thank you for buying the advertised detergent. Call it a late Valentine's gift.

While we can't get excited about Shy Luv's new track, it does have an excellent promo by Bif. A young man falls endlessly through the sky, multiplying himself along the way while his limbs bend and stretch like rubber. His white-garbed clones tumble around giant-sized women; bouncing off their skin inconsequentially or being casually flicked away. Mad and ingenious.

This promo for a new track by the Rolling Stones features Kristen Stewart as a woman using her car to burn fuel on meaningless adventures in post apocalypse LA - Mad Maxine, as it were. Not that this is abundantly clear from the get go... the puzzle pieces are there but it's left to the viewer to satisfyingly slot them into place.

There are few directors whose style is as distinctive as Wes Anderson and no self-respecting movie fan could look at this without immediately recognising it as his work. All of Anderson's familiar trickery has been deployed but don't let that fool you into thinking a square peg has been lodged into a round hole - the effect is entirely on point and is directed towards creating an utterly charming Christmas commercial.

giffgaff's grip on Halloween tightens with another fitting tribute to the spookiest time of the year. It's been a shrewd investment by the mobile phone service provider as it's enabled them to establish a degree of ownership of an event which has increasing importance to their target market.

Finish note that a broken heart is often swiftly followed by a hearty appetite. These unlucky-in-lovers are shown wallowing in the depths of despair and comfort eating in a nicely OTT sequence, leaving behind a trail of filthy dishes. With their characteristic reasoned approach to life and washing up, the brand boast they can provide the necessary cleaning power... if not a shoulder to cry on.

If Batman duking it out with Superman has left you with a splitting headache, then Finish have a more playful skirmish in store for you in this new addition to their excellent campaign. The fight against ageing is an advertising staple, and the dishwasher detergent pedlars claim to have the ideal antidote - the Powerball.

A crazy new origin story for the reassuringly expensive Belgian lager has a young man called Sebastian Artois selling everything he owns in order to buy the brewery. It's a high energy romp which ends with a message about pursuing our own dreams... something that may prove quite difficult if we buy into the core proposition: buying and drinking the advertised lager.

This languid piece for Uniqlo features some eye-catching shapes being thrown in aid of the clothing brand's Oxford Street relaunch. There's a detached coolness to this selection of urbanites turning cranes, crossbars, and even the side of a building into makeshift dancefloors/warm-up spaces, and it helps emphasise the Japanese brand's ethos of blending fashion and function.

Of course, we like to think it's DAVID's wisdom and influence that has resulted in this new direction for Tena for women. The brazen French minx may not have quite the impact of Sterling Gravitas, but hey - she's still a huge improvement on the simpering capers of her predecessors. Her lassez-faire attitude to those 'oops' moments is a clever way to reduce the stigma of stress incontinence... it'll be interesting to see if the brand's target audience respond positively to this.

Director Ivana Bobic ensures Holly Blakey's distinctive choreography takes centre stage in this promo for Bloc Party. A deserted shopping centre provides the backdrop for people dancing joyously by themselves one after another, as if each is being reincarnated into a new body full of pleasure at simply being alive.

We won't be the first to suggest Sam Smith might perhaps have spent longer than twenty minutes writing his Bond theme, but we must concede it's the nature of Bond themes to be grandiose and a bit silly. At least the attendant promo is slickly done and in keeping with the mood, with Daniel Craig looking like the devil's popped up to claim his soul somewhat earlier than expected.

Wonky and wonderful, this immensely hooky track from rising stars Hooton Tennis Club makes us think of early Blur - if they'd been around in the late 60s. That's not lessened by the video that comes with it: a Hanna-Barbera-influenced cartoon by director Alden Volney which looks like Top Cat dropped PCP and started tripping off his tits.

After a long hiatus, Leftfield - that hugely influential sound of the mid 90s - has returned. Or more precisely, Neil Barnes has resurrected the name single-handedly to release the recent, critically acclaimed album 'Alternative Light Source'. This is a track from it; a collaboration with the superlative Sleaford Mods - and new Riff Raff directors Casey & Ewan have done it right proud.

Huge online gaming hit Angry Birds is back for its second coming and this 'live action' (well, live-ish) commercial offers a graphic reminder of the proposition: pigs are the enemy and the birds must hurl themselves at them for reasons unknown. The highly addictive game was a defining moment for the iPhone's capability as a games portal but what can we expect of the sequel?

This film advertising the alternative mobile phone network looks good - great work by Canada London - and it unquestionably grabs the attention but this would surely work better if there was an accompanying film which actually set out the benefits of giffgaff' service in an entirely unambiguous fashion.

A companion ad to the epic 'dishes' execution, this glorious spot focuses on the myriad uses we find for glasses - and the need to clean them that inevitably follows. This crushes Finish's rivals by communicating the message with style and makes an endless chore feel like a cause for celebration. Quite an achievement.

Hold the phone, what's happened here? Where is the usual twaddle about targeting tough stains? Where are the swoosh-tacular graphics? W+K evidently gave that memo short shrift and decided instead to provide substance via stylishness. In so doing, they've created a terrific new precedent for this sector... one that could improve life immeasurably at DAVID HQ.

Evidently designed to appeal to a younger audience, this new spot for Cuprinol features a young couple who find painting the garden shed so simple that they can afford to mess about. The implication is that the brand makes DIY fun rather than a source of tension so that even if - unlike the frolicking duo here - you're not building up to a shag in the rhododendrons afterwards then at least you're not plotting to poison your other half with slug pellets.

Ah, Halloween - a fertile source of inspiration in the world of advertising. We've had Ikea's take on The Shining - and now giffgaff is getting in on the act. In classic horror style, a young woman is fleeing from a chainsaw-wielding maniac... and we anticipate the worst when she stumbles and falls. However, all is not what it seems.

Ker-ching! Powerlift, power dress, power up - that's what chaps should be doing on that tipping point of the week, Wednesdays. With a quick blast of Lynx you'll be good to go for just about anything. We admire the strategy of this campaign - there's no focus on a specific fragrance, just the suggestion that with a little olfactory assistance you can own each working day like no-one else.

You'd expect any ad that opened with "You have over 4,000 Mondays in your life" would put an instant dampener on your mood, but far from it with this powerhouse of a commercial from Lynx. Wanna be the man? No - make him want to be you. With a range of fine fragrances at your disposal, you can be a winner every day of the week; a playa tough enough to eat tofu and not gag.

In this execution of the Nando's campaign featuring fingers that look like the humans attached to them, Gregory is anxious in case he gets a hot wing from the roulette plate his date has ordered. His finger bears the brunt of this and gets angry. It's possibly the least strong of the three, but the attention to detail in the styling of the tiny face is exquisite.

The new Nando's campaign features people with an index finger styled to look exactly like them. The finger's a bit of a bully in each case; in this spot a power struggle develops between the dude and his digit. Will the guy get shown up by himself? Watch and see. It reminds us of 'alien hand syndrome' ( a sort of hand Tourette's that can cause all sorts of hideous social embarrassment) but with finger beards.

One in a series of three ads telling us about Nando's Wing Roulette; a meal whose sauce may randomly be anything from mild to ultra hot (read slightly spicy). The apprehensive human who has ordered this also has his own brilliantly identical mini-me finger, who plays out or plays on his internal fears. This execution features lots of internal screaming.
