Hula Hoops
"Bank Robber"
30s
17 February 2017
UK Crisps

This stick-up artist picks the wrong branch of West Heath Bank to rob. While he tries his best Guy Ritchie routine, the cashier is still enjoying snack time. Fortunately, a show of hands - and an expertly munched Hula Hoop - is all it takes to thwart the would-be criminal. Some folk just aren't designed for the outlaw life.

The brand’s strength has always lain in depicting adults giving into their childish urges. Outsider’s Jim Gilchrist ensures this latest offering is fun, snappy, and packs some cinematic verve. The cashier’s polite manner of turning the tables is also nicely done. Next time you’re told off for playing with your food, this ad will come in, erm, handy.

McVitie's Nibbles
"Seal"

13 Feb 2017
McVitie's continue turning their treats into cute creatures in the latest ad for their Nibbles range. This time baby seals are the embodiment of adorable, as a group of friends open some snacks in a theatre and are overcome with joy at the emerging critters. We particularly enjoy the furry little guys doing tricks with the biscuit balls - great animation work.

McDonald's
"Steve"
60s
9 Feb 2017
This quirky spot for McDonalds has Steve - an employee at the fast food chain - trying to persuade Will (sitting next to him on the bus) that beef, the whole beef, and nothing but the beef goes into their burgers. When Will doesn't believe him, both they and the other passengers are transported to the processing plant which proves Steve's assertion. Stylishly done.

KFC
"Brexit Nativty"
60s
5 Dec 2016
This commercial for KFC certainly has the 'huh?' factor. So much so that - on first viewing - it prompted a lot of puzzled faces and a certain amount of head shaking. But the idea of a traditional head teacher being thrown by one of her teacher's politicisation of the annual Nativity play has grown on us. It's an ad of our time.

KFC
"Unrequited Love"
40s
5 Dec 2016
The Colonel narrates an unexpected love triangle in this ad for KFC. A pair of geriatric lotharios who caused a stir in their retirement home fighting over a 'fine young filly' are reconciled by their mutual fondness for KFC. And a good thing too, because their fair lady was busy "mutton-busting" another chap while they slugged it out, the floozy.

KFC
"Difficult Daughter"
30s
28 Nov 2016
The Colonel brings feuding families together with KFC's first Christmas Burger launched in the UK (featuring no turkey, weirdly). Kids may throw tantrums and teens may bring their obnoxious boyfriend along for the ride, but peace and serenity can be restored for the price of a burger - it's a Christmas miracle.

Robbie Williams
"Love My Life"
3 mins 26s
23 Nov 2016
Robbie Williams just loves being the centre of attention, eh? To be fair to the man, there's no ripping off shirts and/or skin in this promo for 'Love My Life'. He's dressed for winter as a group of black-clad camerawomen record his afternoon stroll. Slickly shot, though there's no escaping the fact the track sounds like any of the popster's past ballads.

Stella Artois
"Brewed For The Holidays"
30s
11 Nov 2016
Always fluid about their history, Stella Artois share another festive spin on their origin story. Monsieur Artois wants to share his new lager with the party across town - but the bridge is blocked by snow. Merde! Luckily, a herd of reindeer bulldozes through the white stuff. Thanks to this animal intervention, Artois ensures these partygoers are reassuringly merry.

Virgin Media
"Control Entertainment"

16 Oct 2016
This postscript to Virgin Media's recent ad focuses on the way their TV service is easily searchable across multiple platforms, which is pretty important for parents who don't want to be left at the mercy of their children's programming whims. Quirky as she might be, there's only so much Peppa Pig an adult human can watch in one go.

In 1933's Duck Soup, Groucho Marx's character exclaims: "Clear? Huh! Why a four-year-old child could understand this report! Run out and find me a four-year-old child, I can't make head or tail of it." Not much has changed since then according to this cleverly-scripted piece of work for Virgin Media. It's still children we need to unravel certain kinds of complexity and the youngsters in this ad are very much masters of their domain.

Tesco Mobile
"Smile"
40s
23 Jun 2016
Oh, the irony! It's just as well this commercial includes the words "this summer" when boasting about the uniform price across Europe available with Tesco Mobile because the decision taken overnight in the UK will ultimately mean a renegotiation on relatively trivial matters such as this as well as on the more important aspects of our relationship with the civilised countries of the EU.

VW Tiguan
"School Run"
60s
21 May 2016
Last year's shocking revelations about VW's use of technology to avoid accurate emissions readings was one of the most humiliating episodes in corporate history. Finding a way back from that kind of reputational self-sabotage was never going to be easy. One of the questions that must have weighed heavily on the car manufacturer as they sought to rehabilitate their image is 'should we keep apologising?'

Kwik-Fit
"Mr Shah"
30s
25 Apr 2016
Portraying the Kwik-Fit team as heroes riding to the rescue once again proves a worthy conceit in the latest instalment of the new campaign. Mr Shah needed help getting to his wedding on time and he knows who to thank. Once again, any portentousness is offset by understated voice work... though, on this occasion, it's a little indistinct.

Kwik-Fit
"Hamster Rescue"
30s
25 Apr 2016
George & Dragon's opening gambit for Kwik-Fit depicts the chain's mechanics as heroes receiving the gratitude of a little girl whose pet hamster they rescued after it went AWOL inside the family car. It exploits the familiar 'power walk' trope to suggest these personnel mean business but this turns out to be a set-up designed to reveal their warm, human side as they thank the little girl for her lovely letter.

Sainsbury's
"Sausage Twist"
30s
20 Jan 2016
Hats off to BOLD's Zach Math for going the extra mile with Mike Crowe and Rob Messeter's promising script to create a really funny flight of fantasy. As in the previous ad, someone cooking a fairly pedestrian meal wonders what they can do to make it more exciting and starts day-dreaming. In this execution, a mum starts thinking about eating in the great outdoors... sausages cooked over a naked flame and the whole family ready to enjoy the sense of well-being you get from fresh air and wild possibilities.

Sainsbury's
"Fish Twist"
30s
7 Jan 2016
This engaging ad for Orange Supermarket has a dad considering what he can do to give the fish-based meal he's cooking a bit of a twist. After fantasising about catching the fish himself, he recognises the pitfalls and decides to go for something a bit more prosaic. It's a good, simple idea and it's been well-executed by BOLD's Zach Math.

Currys PC World
"Turkey"
1 min 55s
5 Nov 2015
Easy charm and a beautiful head of hair aren't enough to save this chap's unsuccessful attempt at a Christmas dinner, but Jeff Goldblum ensures his family react with a little more encouragement... even if he can't act his way through a mouthful. Comedic brilliance, but judging by these outtakes, it's a Christmas miracle they managed to get all five of these ads done in time for November!

Currys PC World
"Jigsaw"

4 Nov 2015
Currys PC World's terrific Christmas campaign centres on the moments of strained enthusiasm we radiate when our nearest and dearest don't quite provide the Christmas of our dreams. What if we had someone to help coach us in the art of improving our 'bad gift' face? That's where Jeff Goldblum comes in.

The beauty of this whole campaign for Currys PC World is the way that at first we have no real idea where they're going. The cast look just as surprised as we are to see Goldblum's deus ex machina breeze into their homes and give them strangely intimate lessons on how to act when the gift received isn't from Currys PC World. Genius.

Pokerstars
"The Game"
90s
11 Aug 2015
Pokerstars live up to their moniker by acquiring some footballing starpower for this stylishly-shot card game. Barcelona and Brazil striker Neymar swaps the pitch for the poker table and he seems to be faring rather well. But who’s that in the vintage Mercedes? Ronaldo, Brazilian football’s Mr. Big - in more ways than one - soon arrives to show the young pretender a thing or two

Paddy Power
"Shirt Cannon"
30s
6 Aug 2015
As replica shirts are ironed and Fantasy Football teams studiously assembled ahead of the new Premier League season, Paddy Power go all-out to prove they're the most generous bookmaker around. Rolling out the artillery, the Irish brand give the t-shirt cannon a serious upgrade as they unleash garments on a crowd of unsuspecting fans.

Innocent Smoothies
"Waiting Game"
30s
14 Jul 2015
This charming piece from Innocent reveals that patience is key when it comes to choosing the ingredients that go into their range of juices and smoothies. Our stoic man and dog duo endure the changing seasons and some hefty hair growth before the raspberries are ready to be picked. Jaunty stuff, plus some nice work from the not so innocent couple in the background.

Adidas
"Real Madrid"
40s
18 Jun 2015
The neat thing about this impressive film for Adidas is the way the celebrity of some of the world's most famous footballers is perfectly counter-balanced by a VO performance that has almost as much weight. Slow motion is used to excellent effect as the likes of Ronaldo and Gareth Bale strut their stuff before segueing to a familiar message about Adidas's core values.

VW Tiguan
"Compromises"
60s
14 Sep 2014
The scenarios in this delightful ad show a deep understanding of the nature of parental compromise. To the apt and gentle strains of I'd Do Anything, a dad cedes to his offsprings' wishes, consoling himself with the thought that once alone in his Tiguan, he is temporarily the master of his own domain.

Enterprise
"Network"
40s
5 Aug 2014
Once again, Brad and Dave prove that Britain and the US are two nations divided by a common language as they jointly explain the advantages of having a network that goes right across Europe. "You do the math," says Brad. "Maths," Dave responds automatically, before they get into a confusion about whose uncle Bob is.
