UK Promos

Blend Talking Heads with The Human League and a smidgen of Bowie, add a generous sprinkle of Heaven 17... and you'll have yourself a classy cocktail named Artificial Pleasure.

'I'll Make It Worth Your While' could be a synthpop-era classic: irrepressibly buoyant and tinnily precise all at once. But it also comes something else in tow - a monumentally cuckoo video you can't tear yourself away from.

The action takes place in a hospital ward, where a bunch of medics surround a patient lying in a bed. The patient is about to give birth... not so unusual, we might think - except that he's a man. In a unique example of human parthenogenesis, his offspring emerges Alien-like from his belly and begins to dance.

The track is about our occasional need to let loose on the dance-floor... to a degree that's only one step away from psychiatric intervention.

Dylan Holmes Williams's promo interprets this by showing our inner, disinhibited side literally breaking out and telling the consequences to fuck off.

It's brilliantly bonkers, leaving you both mildly euphoric and slightly apprehensive about what might happen next. That's what we want from our cocktails, isn't it? Same again then, please; in fact, line 'em up at the bar.
