UK Motor Insurance

Another insane offering featuring Iggy Pop and his puppet. This time the two are in bed where the 1960s icon is doing a crossword. Unsurprisingly, the answers to the clues he completes point us the direction of the advertised insurance service.

Another bizarre two-handed featuring Iggy Pop and his doppelgänger puppet. This time, the duo are going on a road trip and, as usual, buried somewhere beneath all the weirdness there is a message about using the advertised service to keep your documents in order.

Another of the new series of shorts in which Iggy Pop goes nose to nose with his latex doppelgänger. Here, the rock icon appears to be overwhelmed when his likeness says: "I love you, man." The laughter seems genuine and it looks like a genuine bit of improvisation.

Iggy Pop turns to camera and says: "this is so surreal" after he and the puppet cast in his image argue over which of them has the strangest looking face. It would be interesting to know if his accurate assessment was part of the script.

Iggy Pop goes nose to nose with his puppet lookalike in this short for swiftcover.com. It simply isn't possible to watch this campaign without shaking your head and tutting at the sight of one of rock music's most anti-establishment figures advertising insurance.

To show how relaxed Iggy Pop is these days, we see the man who puts the 'sex' into 'sexagenarian' taking it easy on the golf course. Alongside him is a puppet representation of the wild alter ego he uses when performing on stage. As strange as advertising gets.

Iggy Pop is joined by a puppet version of himself in the latest instalment of this ongoing campaign for the advertised insurance company. The cult musician actually looks slightly more ridiculous than his latex caricature.

Iggy Pop reprises his recent performance in an ad for swiftcover.com in this series of bumpers advertising their sponsorship of Sky's Science Fiction programming. We can't better The Guardian's description of Iggy Pop that he looks like your Gran wrapped in cling-film.

62 year old James Newell Osterberg Jr hops about in familiar fashion in this bizarre offering for insurance company Swift. It's so odd to see a figure like Iggy Pop promoting 'the man'... his old pals from the Warhol days would think he was such a sell out... if they weren't all dead.

In earlier ad we were introduced to the idea that staff at call centres are like chickens. And if you don't want to deal with a a chicken, you're better off with the humans at Swift Cover. Now we see a pair of Brummie chickens watching a colleague cross the road. Bring on the bird flu.

Continuing use of the metaphor established in earlier ads between call centres and chickens has a spokesman claiming that Swift Cover pass on the cost savings of not having a call centre to their customers... so, who the hell do you phone when there's a problem?

Chickens are used again as a metaphor for call centres as a woman tries to get an insurance quote. The idea that you can solve the problem of not being able to get through to someone by switching to a company that has no-one to get through to is pretty absurd.

Call centre staff are maligned as chickens here in an ad that depicts the frustration of trying to get a motor insurance quote in the face of the endless delays associated with the process. Instead, you can use swiftcover.com, who don't employ chickens... apparently.
