"Who Will Stop Jack Frost?"

Internet Motor Breakdown Services

This short film presents the cold as a palpable threat to a family whose heating has broken down. Mum becomes unhinged as she bids to cope with the escalating situation and before long she's swinging an axe in the living room. The use of the visual vernacular of horror movies emphasises the rising panic and it's a spirited reminder of our dependency on central heating.

This ad makes DAVID want to pin small hand-made posters on trees reading 'Missing. Comedian... answers to the name of John... last seen in 1988' The lanky septuagenarian hops about in a sleeping bag to minimal comic effect. Sad.

The AA have followed up the opprobrium-attracting commercial from last year with a gentler version of the same ad. Filmed in the north-east of England it manages to imply that your car breaking down could be the start of a beautiful relationship.

Tony Kaye's return to UK advertising is marked by a spectacular ad in which a flood of AA men descend to help stranded motorists who need to know they've got a friend. The yellow-coated motor mechanics look alarmingly like policemen in a dragnet but otherwise it is reassuring.

Interesting mix of an old and new campaign as a man explains to his rock 'n' roll buddy that the people in the back of his car are the AA team seeking out a car insurance quote for him. When they find a favourable one, the ageing hippies volley "nice, man!" back and forth sounding like famous copy.
