British Comedy Awards
"Roll Up, Roll Up"
30s
6 December 2013
UK TV Programmes

The British Comedy Awards promise all the fun of the fair in this attractively-animated trail. Like a carnival barker, Wossy provides the voiceover informing us who'll be present - from Steve Coogan to Will Ferrell and plenty more besides. Given that the programme itself is getting rather tired, the stylish visual aspect of this livens it up significantly.

"All In The Delivery"

Disappointingly, this is the same trail as Channel 4 used for last year's Comedy Awards. And as appealing as it is to imagine that Jonathan Ross is kept in the box for the rest of the year, the self-aggrandising performances on ITV every Saturday night provide evidence to the contrary.

3 Dec 2012
It's often a challenge to deliver all the required info in just ten seconds. Fortunately, this only has to announce the date the British Comedy Awards is being shown. Unfortunately, there's something rather funny about Jonathan Ross's disembodied voice - more funny peculiar than funny ha-ha.

"Jonathan's Delivery"

Jonathan Ross is flung from a Jack In A Box in this ad reminding us that he'll be hosting the British Comedy Awards again this year. It's usually the best bit of telly he does and for those of us who can't be bothered to watch his fawning me-me-me interviews on ITV, a rare chance to see him in action.

"Lifetime Achievement Award"

Jonathan Ross in another of the trails purporting to show how badly-run the British Comedy Awards are. In this execution, Ross seeks clarification about the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award who is only 19 and has made a single pilot for Channel 4. This will actually happen in our lifetime.

"The Lawyer"

Another of the trails for the British Comedy Awards has Jonathan Ross speaking to one of the event's lawyers. The young man doesn't inspire him with confidence and it continues to feel as though it's going to be a ramshackle affair.

"Rehearsals"

Jonathan Ross deadpans his way through this piece promoting the British Comedy Awards which purports to show the underwhelming rehearsals. He complains bitterly as he's expected to practice with the help of unlikely stand-ins.
