Malcom the cat - who for some reason never took off like Aleksandr and Sergei despite being voiced by Rupert Everett - returns: still grumpy, still hungry, and still thwarted by his inconsiderate humans. If they'd only give him some of their dinner, Malcom moans, then he could get back to having his 'pick of the ladies' instead of focusing all his energy on fish.

Our verbose feline friend continues to lament his station as he's unable to taste Young's cod fillets. Rupert Everett again brings the cat's frustration to life as he looks on with a face like thunder at the "oh so tempting" fish. This 'grumpy cat' is potentially a character which can develop further as the campaign unfolds and - if current trends continue - it won't be long before we can buy a stuffed toy version.

The discerning feline in this spot for Young's Gastro fish dishes feels hard done to because his owners never give him a look in when it comes to sampling the meals himself. Well may he understand the finer points of tempura and gratins, but his is destined to be a meow in the wilderness... after all, how could a cat possibly enjoy such sophistication?

"What Smells So Good?"

Have we woken up in the '70s? This ad feels so hilariously authentic it's disorientating. Fishermen in sou'westers ask repeatedly: "What smells so good?", and everything - from our memories of TV advertising in that era to the grading, shot decisions and product itself - suggests it's a resurrection of some quaint campaign from the vaults.

If you're a chef, we suggest you look away now. This commercial suggests that slaving away in a hot kitchen and making everything from scratch will deliver the same outcome as popping a ready-made meal into the oven. It's a good pitch for the product but a profoundly depressing idea and it's certainly not true.

To illustrate the idea that Young's new Gastro range is akin to something you might be served in a restaurant, a woman is seen preparing her dinner in a split screen she shares with a chef creating something special in his kitchen. If you're going to make an outrageous claim you might as well make it a big one.

Another helping of music from the Port Isaac's Fishermans Friends. The Cornish musical group sing their way ashore having apparently caught the fish which is converted by Young's into their frozen offerings... notwithstanding the fact that the super reveals that their cod is sourced outside British waters.

Young's have stuck with the song long associated with their advertising in this charming ad featuring Port Isaac's Fishermans Friends. The Cornish singers offer a harmonised version of the folk song as they show off the breaded fish.

A Question Of Sport regular Matt Dawson talks up the naturalness of the advertised Young's products. According to Dawson, the only things added to the fish could be found in a typical kitchen cupboard... we shall be testing this proposition when we get a chance.

Matt Dawson is a good choice as spokesperson for Young's Fish as he is affable and delivers a good performance. However, since he won Celebrity Masterchef a couple of years ago with some very impressive cooking... it's disingenuous to portray him as a novice.

You can't fault the food photography in this commercial for the fish food company... everything looks delicious. We had to laugh at the mention of the use of sustainable cod in their fish fingers... presumably, the particular cod in those particular fish fingers has ceased to sustain.

Cut down version with slightly different subtitles uses the beautiful photography associated with this campaign to show the trawlers out at see gathering the fish which ends up on your plate. The food pics are less inspiring this time around - if you want fish and chips, get it from a proper chippie.

Beautifully filmed commercial shows how the fish caught on behalf of Young's makes its way to your dinnerplate from the various fishing grounds around the World. Okay, so it's an over-romanticised vision but it's a nice thought. Piped version of "When The Boat Comes In" accompanies perfectly.
