UK Directory Enquiry Services

Another of the slowed down ads for the Yellow Pages which focuses on one of the people who use it to sell their services. We see a woman who teaches the Alexander Technique... which looks like a strangling method. And judging from the human remains hung on the walls, not her first victim.

I really like the idea behind this spot - if it was better executed I think I'd even be tempted to say it's better than the original.

Continuing the campaign in which slow motion photography of the people behind the numbers is used to remind us that the famous directory is really about all the small businesses it contains. This one focuses on a man whose rabbit breeding hobby led him to start making hutches for a living.

Another run out for the "celebration of the people behind the number" theme offers us a bunch of beauty therapists from Hull who seem as non-plussed as the Sunderland taxi drivers to be in an ad. Perhaps both groups never lost the suspicion it was a ruse by the DSS to flush out benefit cheats.

There is little doubt here that the people appearing in these sponsorship bumpers for the Yellow Pages really are taxi drivers from Sunderland. This current trend for incorporating real people into TV commercials instead of employing celebrities must be doing wonders for the budgets.

Visually arresting slowed down footage introduces us to the people behind the numbers in the Yellow Pages. No James Nesbitt (though it sounds like his Dad may have recorded the voiceover) with a focus on ordinary people. Image suggests between "Storage" and "Sunbeds" you'll find "Stranglers".

James Nesbitt has ordered a new computer but cannot even manage to put it on without the help of the niece he fleeced in a previous (and easily the best) ad in the series. He threatens her with another haircut if she doesn't leave him to it.

Another outing for James Nesbitt's twinkly-eyed Irish charm - here he phones for help from a dog obedience school when cornered by an angry Doberman.

James Nesbitt uses his twinkly-eyed Irish charm once more to promote the use of the urine-coloured telephone directory. Here, with a group of mates, the Ulsterman reminisces about his days on the back of a motorbike. But when they decide to take a refresher course, things don't go so well.

James Nesbit appears as an uncle who unwisely tries to cut his niece's hair. When his sister (the girl's Mum gets home) he pretends it is the work of a "terrible hairdresser" and that he is taking her back for them to sort it out. He then pretends to berate the stylist so that his sister will believe his story. Brilliantly done.
