USA After Shave

These commercials for Old Spice spoof Old West tropes with the brand's characteristic sense of humour. Their deodorant is so effective it's left the, uh, pit farmers' land too dry to grow their 'pertaters' - a line delivered in a perfectly rubbish accent. In the second clip, an old man shakes his fists skyward at the Old Spice gods as his son is smushed to death beneath a giant deodorant stick.

Another eccentric tale from the files of Old Spice sees a man seemingly backed into a corner down at the local police station. He fits the profile - namely being a naked man sitting at a piano made of bubbles - but he remains unperturbed by his predicament. Instead, he sends a helpfully-labelled blackmail envelope across the floor to his inquisitor without missing a note.

Old Spice present another helping of madness packed into an aerosol container as this desperado looks set to meet his maker at the hands of the local tyrant. Being a connoisseur of a certain male grooming brand, however, our shackled protagonist is fully intent on walking into the sunset.

Having reached critical muscle mass with brand ambassadors Terry Crews and Isaiah Mustafa squaring off against one another, Old Spice appear to have taken a swig of their own product judging by their new advertising direction. Still, someone had to fuse a job interview and body horror together at some point... right?

War is coming… and it smells like Old Spice. The brand decide to pit two of their most recognisable spokesmen against each other as they promote their favourite fragrances. There’s Isaiah Mustafa’s unflappable smoothie who manages to conjure scenarios out of nowhere for the pleasure of the female audience, and then there’s Terry Crews's loud, fearless leaps into the absurd and ridiculous.

Normally, a 30" blast of Terry Crews's brilliantly demented bathroom routine would bring more than enough enjoyment. This time, Old Spice have an extra treat in store. Clicking on the YouTube link takes viewers to a special website featuring Crews in a permanent strongman pose, giving one ample time to 'explore' his ripped physique.

It's easy to imagine that a commercial like this is built around the celebrity at its centre, but anyone who has seen Crews' appearances in 'Everybody Hates Chris' and 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' will know he's a highly skilled comedy performer. Even if you're unfamiliar with his TV work, you can tell from this piece that he pulls his weight.

This daft ad for Old Spice plays on the parental stereotypes of mothers who can't cut the apron strings and fathers who are all too happy to let the fruit of their loins strike out into the great wide world. Unknown to the young men out on romantic dates, their mothers are with them in spirit; clutching favourite of toys from childhood and lurking crazily under the ice of skating rinks.

Who says 15 seconds isn't enough to deliver a fully-evolved, stand-alone concept? Hard for anyone to make that claim after seeing this. A handsome dude and his lady are at the funfair when suddenly, his hair - a wig! - falls off his head. Well, not so much falls as slithers, because it takes on a life of its own and begins to operate the 'grabber' slot machine with joyous results. Inspired.

In truth, Old Spice are never going to better The Man Your Man Could Smell Like but this gives it a run for its money. Like the new P & G film , it focuses on mums but there the similarity ends... and then some. In this commercial, mums are struggling to let go of their maturing sons and they stalk their young fledglings as if obsessed by their burgeoning independence.

Lovely ad for a new Old Spice erm... fragrance. Suave chap flanked by 'live' lupines draped over each shoulder is literally a wolf in wolves' clothing; striking first fear, then lust in the heart of elegant young thing at fancy-schmancy ball. They make a casually dramatic exit from the event and she whispers that she never had a chance to resist as he liberally douses himself in the advertised product.

Greg Jennings of the Green Bay Packers explains that you should never mix business with pleasure before striding down the field while carrying a double bed on his hips with a beautiful woman at his side. He catches a ball thrown by the quarterback as he goes and demonstrates that it is possible to combine business and pleasure after all.

This amusing American ad continues the recent tradition of using US sport stars. Here Green Bay Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings reveals that you'll feel as though you're a star in a movie about your own life if you use the advertised product. And he does... which is more than can be said for his dog.

A whole new take on the idea of a one-man band forms the basis of the latest excellent commercial for Old Spice. Terry Crews is attached via a series of electrodes to a number of percussion devices which he then triggers by flexing his impressive muscles... it's silly and funny and, strangely, will persuade men to use the advertised product.

Another in the increasingly surreal commercials for Old Spice built around "believing in your smellf". Among other scenarios, a man swims laps while listening to a self-motivation programme on headphones and effortlessly picks up all the medals... not that this is the Olympics, you understand, because Old Spice is not an official sponsor.

Old Spice take parody to new levels with their latest commercial in which a young man looks to improve himself by following the instructions issued to him via an audio recording. Along the way, he takes on a field of racehorses and ignominiously dumps Heather Graham but he's being true to himsmellf and that's all that counts.

Old Spice continue the enviable task of following one of the greatest commercials of all time with this effort which spoofs detergent advertising. Former NFL player (and Old Spice regular Terry Crews) bursts into the ad in dramatic fashion and exits with equal alacrity.

The camp style that won so many plaudits last year is resurrected for another ad for the down-market smelly stuff. This doesn't work quite as well as its illustrious forbear but it's still a pretty amusing piece of advertising. Just don't ask us to use the bloody stuff.

This amusing American ad cleverly uses a tongue-in-cheek delivery for an old-fashioned claim. The protagonist hurtles through various objects to emphasise his manliness as he explains why he likes Old Spice. Watch out for the dumbest super ever.
