Ireland Fast Food Restaurants

Randy O'Brien is back to introduce KFC's O'Sanders Feast just in time for St Paddy's Day - and yes, it does include potatoes. In one of BBH's final pieces of work for the brand, Randy attempts to make a '200%' Irish meal through a montage of stereotypes sure to make anyone of Irish descent chuckle: huge families, rain, and, of course, leprechauns.

Once again we applaud the excellent casting. The actor has a terrific comic sensibility; judging the line between gurning bonhomie and earnest intensity without missing a beat. Don't know about you, but he's certainly sold us on the idea of a pint o' chi-oc-hi-an or two.

KFC redeem another miserable outing in this 30" commercial. This time, George surprises Daisy with a trip to a music festivalÖ just a shame itís taking place during monsoon season. Anyone whoís ever regretted buying camping tickets on a whim will sympathise. Luckily, their soggy getaway is salvaged by the fast food chainís new Dirty Louisiana burger.

This KFC ad will bring back unpleasant memories for some as we follow Kate and her colleagues enduring a company retreat. ďSmells like team spiritĒ, the Southern-fried VO claims. Looks more like hypothermia. Of course, it isnít rafting in sub-zero waters that brings them together - itís the fast food chainís new Double Bucket meal.

This commercial for KFC certainly has the 'huh?' factor. So much so that - on first viewing - it prompted a lot of puzzled faces and a certain amount of head shaking. But the idea of a traditional head teacher being thrown by one of her teacher's politicisation of the annual Nativity play has grown on us. It's an ad of our time.

KFC
"Unrequited Love"

5 Dec 2016
The Colonel narrates an unexpected love triangle in this ad for KFC. A pair of geriatric lotharios who caused a stir in their retirement home fighting over a 'fine young filly' are reconciled by their mutual fondness for KFC. And a good thing too, because their fair lady was busy "mutton-busting" another chap while they slugged it out, the floozy.

"Difficult Daughter"

The Colonel brings feuding families together with KFC's first Christmas Burger launched in the UK (featuring no turkey, weirdly). Kids may throw tantrums and teens may bring their obnoxious boyfriend along for the ride, but peace and serenity can be restored for the price of a burger - it's a Christmas miracle.

KFC
"Meet the Zingers"
20s
5 Sep 2016
This KFC ad suggests anyone looking for attention from an attractive shop assistant should order a Zinger sandwich post-haste. After getting more bite than he bargained for, this bloke stops outside a pet shop while wiping away the tears. Mistaking him for an especially emotional animal lover, a pet shop employee gives him a hug to go along with his meal box.

KFC
"Spicy"

KFC pack in as much heat as ten seconds will allow in this quick commercial for the fast food chain's new Rio BBQ Bites. Spices crash against fiery peppers to create some eye-watering vapours, and the satisfying food photography gives punters a decent idea of what kind of taste experience awaits them at the Colonel's gaff during the Olympics.

KFC
"An Apology"
1 min 40s
25 Jul 2016
This tongue-in-cheek apology proves a brilliant way of introducing a new 'Irish' burger at KFC. We can only assume that the personnel at BBH charged with finding an angle for this were so dumbfounded by the proposition that they decided the only possible approach was to take the piss out of it... and it's an immensely good call.

A young boy carrying all the KFC his little arms can carry makes his way through a bustling Rio de Janeiro to his hungry family. As the lad informs us, it's only when everyone's tucking into their chicken that the music and chatter abate for a short while. A more idealised vision of Rio than the one the Olympic host's emergency services have projected, it's nonetheless another relaxed depiction of family mealtime from a brand with good form in this department.

"Astronaut"

6 Jun 2016
After a successful visit to the International Space Station, an astronaut prepares to return from orbit to terra firma. As John Grant's 'Outer Space' plays in the background, the protagonist is strapped into his Union Jack-sporting tin can and begins a pulsating journey back into Earth's atmosphere. Equipment pulses and flames roar from the exhaust, but our hero remains calm as he hurtles towards his ultimate goal: the returning KFC Supercharger sub. Godspeed, indeed.

KFC
"Roller Skater"
60s
11 May 2016
This charming commercial for KFC has a young man heading out of the office on his roller skates as a cypher for the freedom he feels when getting away from work. Outside, it's a lovely sunny day and everyone appears delighted to tune into the protagonist's palpable sense of well-being. It culminates - as it must - with food from the advertised fast food joint, shared with his children.

KFC
"Five-A-Side"

25 Apr 2016
The various components of a meal deal from the advertised fast food joint run rings around the opposition in this metaphorical five-a-side football match. If you're really hungry then you should have some deep-fried chicken and chips rather than a light sandwich... unless you're planning to play five-a-side football, ironically enough.

KFC

Director Samuel Abrahams has cleverly elevated the impact of this ad by creating some terrific choreography with his performers. Not only does this idea illustrate the product proposition, it captures the attention and holds it right to the end when the impressively big burger which it advertises reaches the mouth of one of its multiplicity of protagonists.

KFC
"Bucket Cam"
30s
7 Mar 2016
If we opened a bucket of KFC chicken and found a camera staring up our nostrils, an indignant letter would no doubt be, ahem, winging its way to head office. In this ad for the fast food chain's Double Bucket meal deal, the cast seem perfectly happy about this optical anomaly and instead prioritise getting their mitts on a piece of the Colonel's finest.

KFC
"Slow"

2 Feb 2016
They may be a fast food restaurant, but KFC acknowledge the virtues of taking things slow with this attractive ad. In between languid shots of Kentucky around sundown, we're treated to appetising glimpses of bright chillies, spices, and viscid sauce coming together to create a pulled chicken burger. Considered pacing and good photography combine to present a KFC meal as one worth savouring.

A smashed piggybank reverses its obliteration and becomes whole again while supers explain that dinner doesn't have to break the bank - that is, if you're getting your dinner from KFC. The soundtrack certainly grabs your attention, albeit not in an entirely good way and you may put your head through the television if you can't find the mute button quickly enough.

Even the best of pals can push each other's buttons as this KFC's latest friendly trivia test shows. Here, a bonus piece of chicken hinges on these mates knowing what sparks an argument between them. Nothing too incendiary here unsurprisingly, but sniffing like that would sour the mood in no time.

KFC

KFC continue to test the BFF credentials of their patrons in this good-natured series of ads. The subject this time round is what friends look for in their ideal man or woman. As ever, a correct answer merits an extra piece of chicken in the bucket, so it really does pay to know your pal places greater importance on height over musical taste.

KFC
"Friendship Test"

Friendship has played a key role in KFC's advertising in recent times as they push their famous bucket as the ideal meal for sharing between mates. Now the fast food chain want to see just how chummy their customers are with a light-hearted round of questions. The reward for a correct answer? You guessed it - an extra piece for their bucket.

KFC
"#BossedIt"

28 Oct 2015
This spot for KFC feels like a slightly tricky proposition to get right. The #Bossedit hashtag seems faintly too triumphal even for a tongue-in-cheek moment: for a start, does anyone really care if Old Blue Eyes is up to his gills in stonewash? And is ordering a new type of burger really showing the world who's top dog? This needs a bigger side of humour to really work.

KFC
"Brothers"
60s
1 Aug 2015
This new spot for KFC could easily have been schmaltzy - but in the capable hands of Pulse Films's Michael Pearce it's sweet and lovely. Designed to highlight the brand's new Mediterranean range, it focuses on the relationship between two brothers - Arturo and his older sibling, whom he idolises. Will things change when the brother gets a girlfriend? Watch and see.

KFC
"Being A Friend"

9 Jun 2015
A sweet ad for the fried chicken restaurant that will resonate with bromancers nationwide. Time flies for two inseparable flatmates only for one of them to start a relationship... with a woman! Three becomes a crowd and the other is left to move out. Luckily, friendship is sacred and the two soon reunite over a bucket of KFC's finest.

KFC
"The Colonel Returns"

20 May 2015
Colonel Sanders marks his return by describing how much the world has changed since he's been away. He may not be enamoured with cargo pants (we suggest the Colonel doesn't walk into a branch of Gap any time soon), but he's just as passionate about chicken as ever. There's something a little off about the live-action Colonel, but it's a warm performance.

In the second commercial suggesting we can pack more into our lunchtimes with KFC, a striking-looking woman seizes the day - well, hour - by throwing herself into all manner of activities; both deliberately and inadvertently. We very much like the fact that she isn't your conventional chocolate-box simperer. This possesses an endearing quirkiness that elevates the brand.
