Vauxhall Corsa
"Wi-Fi"
30s
15 February 2017
UK Cars

This ad for Vauxhall focuses on the Corsa's wi-fi connectivity (wi-fi in a car, what a world) and features an awkward young couple overlooking a makeout point... although there's not a lot of making out on the cards. Especially not with the lad's mates a few feet away shouting out corrections to the wi-fi password - talk about a firewall.

"Parking Assist"

A young woman uses her car's technology to help her parallel park in this ghastly confection for the Vauxhall Corsa. The music and the VO are terrible; the message is condescendingly expressed; but it does at least draw attention to a useful feature and that may be enough for this vehicle to stick in the mind of drivers lacking in confidence.

"Call Mum"

15 Jun 2015
Vauxhall's alphabetical journey continues with the letter C. This quick outing shows how the new Corsa's voice activation technology allows drivers to make phone calls handsfree; in this instance, everyone's wanting a natter with their mum while travelling down the road. It's all getting a bit easy for Vauxhall with this campaign now - tackle X, Y, and Z for bonus points.

Vauxhall Corsa
"Everybody In"

The A-Z conceit for this Vauxhall campaign guarantees the initial commercial can be spun out for a little longer than usual. The same energy is carried across well as this treatment is about "E for Everybody In". We're then treated to a zippy montage showing everyone from kids at footie practice to a happy Dalmatian finding their way into the advertised vehicle.

"No Hands"

Terrific use of a ten-second spot here with a young guy confounding his mate by reversing without touching the steering wheel. Apparently in the A-Z of Corsa-speak, 'L' stands for 'look, no hands' - and it has to be said, it's very impressive to watch. Nice bit of vérité-style filming, too - it feels really spontaneous.

This is only short and it's pretty basic, but it gets across a strong message simply and clearly. Which is that the Vauxhall Corsa has a heated windscreen. Suddenly, we're thinking: why don't ALL cars have that? Why is the rear window heated but not the front? It's reasoning that's literally back to front. Anyway. We're on 'B' at the moment... does this mean there are 26 advantages to choosing a Corsa in total?

This vibrant slice of life positions the Vauxhall Corsa as a car we might find at the centre of normal human existence... a life utility vehicle helping young drivers who are trying to make their way into the adult world. It's a canny move. The vehicles of yesteryear that occupied this space - the Mini and the VW Beetle - have been seriously upgraded in the last decade or two and although this may mean they are far superior to their forebears, they are probably beyond the financial reach of many youngsters.

"Smoke"

What says fun more than trailing coloured smoke behind your car? Er, quite a lot of things actually but that's what the people behind this ad for the Vauxhall Corsa have decided. The cars speed through the empty streets of a city trailing different colours that are occasionally meaninglessly combined.

"Wall Pictures"

Animated arrows appear on city walls and on the side of lorries to help guide a Vauxhall Corsa driver through an urban landscape. This is a follow-up to another similarly amiable commercial that, like this one, lacks a cutting edge.

Vauxhall Corsa
"Pop Art"
40s

This ad is chock-a-block with 1960s pop art as we are once again invited to believe that the advertised car is great fun. The soundtrack does its bit as well and the overall effect is cheerfully exuberant.

Vauxhall Corsa
"Hide And Seek"

16 Jan 2010
This vintage commercial demonstrated how much fun the advertised car can be. A number of the vehicles dash around the city searching for places to secrete themselves in a massive game of hide and seek.

Vauxhall Corsa
"Concert"

22 Jul 2008
The C'mon puppets turn up to see 'Boris' in concert... sadly, it's not London's new mayor but a poor man's Lenny Kravitz who joins the cloth-covered characters in the back of the car where they all rock along to his music using the car's built-in MP3 connection.

Vauxhall Corsa
"Sunroof Bloopers"

20 Jul 2008
The C'mon puppets are back in this odd addition to the series which asks us to believe that the puppets act up while making the commercials. Although the puppets have probably formed a cult following because of these ads... we wonder whether their appeal does much good for the advertised marque.

Vauxhall Corsa
"Bike Rack"
30s
22 Oct 2007
The Corsa puppets are driving past a sexy woman struggling to cycle up a hill and being a lecherous bunch they pull over to offer her a ride. This offers the opportunity to demonstrate that the car has a clever device at the back which can accommodate a bicycle.

"C'mon Chase"

This excerpt from the new ad is being used to emphasise the point at the end of the ad break in which the original appears. One of the strange looking puppets ends up in a bin when chasing the young woman who has set off in the car.

"C'mon Chase"

The c'mon puppets we met in an ad last year appear to be involved in a relationship with a young woman who has decided to sneak out for a drive in the Corsa when the little figures are indisposed. They chase after her yelling their familiar war cry and eventually corner her. So very, very strange.

Vauxhall Corsa
"Club"

13 Oct 2006
The strange puppets introduced in the previous ad gather for a night-time rendezvous at a club. It turns out their vocabulary is limited to the "c'mon" that was the signature phrase of the opening ad. Eventually, one of them flies off on a balloon. Odd.

Vauxhall Corsa
"C'mon!"

6 Oct 2006
Brief companion piece to the new Corsa ad focuses on the puppets as they press their faces against the plate glass of the Vauxhall showroom where another puppet languishes on the bonnet of the car. It launches on October 14th, apparently.

Could this signal the end of the long-running hid and seek campaign? A series of strange-looking puppets disengage from what they were doing when they see the Vauxhall Corsa pass by. This ad seems to be the opposite of Dodge Caliber's Anything But Cute campaign.

Drivers having fun playing hide and seek through a busy town centre, doing well not to run anyone over or crash into each other, although one does manage to crash into a pile of rubbish.
