Adidas unleash their creativity in this 30s ad championing 'more than hard work'. Starring supermodel Karlie Kloss and athletes Candace Parker and Becky Sauerbrunn, among others, the action-packed film builds on the brand's 2016 'Here to Create' campaign and reinforces the idea that creativity, along with hard work, is necessary to push the boundaries of sport. An intriguing concept and compelling visuals really hammer the message home.

"Original Is Never Finished"

What goes around comes around - and Adidas explores the idea of originality by presenting the familiar differently. To Sinatra's 'My Way', various luminaries from Snoop Dogg to Lucas Puig and Dev Hynes express their interpretation of the world around them: uncompromising, sharp, creative.

Adidas
"Y-3"
2 mins 40s
23 Jan 2017
This ad for Adidas' Y-3 collection feels like a trailer for a movie which doesn't exist about a dystopian future. Designed by influential Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto (hence the Y), the collection enhances the cryptic, quasi-facist imagery of the film, centred around a mysterious figure fleeing from the establishment. Strange, intriguing stuff.

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. In that case, Under Armour should be very flattered by this Chinese Adidas commercial. The ad riffs on Under Armour’s sublime ‘Rule Yourself’ ad from 2015. Yet there's more to it than that; it also challenges notions about Chinese conformity.

"Pogba: Capsule Collection"
60s
17 Jan 2017
Paul Pogba's capsule clothing collection with Adidas has been launched at an uncomfortable moment for the player following a disastrous performance on the pitch. Perhaps this stylish film with edgy black and gold visuals and an attention-grabbing soundtrack can divert attention away from the critics.

An old man who's not ready to give in to being old just yet is wasting away in a retirement home. Depressed and listless, he remembers his glory days when he catches sight of his old running shoes and makes a decision: he's not going to shuffle off into senility without a fight. This ad for Adidas was created as a student spec film which the brand actually passed on... at least before it went viral.

French footballer Paul Pogba might be the most expensive player in the world right now, but that doesn't mean everyone wants to be him. Although they do want to be in his shoes - literally. This hi-octane ad hits us with an unrelenting barrage of witty images demonstrating that while Pogba's skills, fortune and tabloid notoriety don't appeal, his Adidas boots do.

Analogue and digital collide in this visually arresting film from Adidas Originals and director Karim Huu Do. The ad flits from VHS quality footage to crisp modern visuals as a gang of X-Men converge on a shipment. Constant aesthetic shifts keep the viewer engaged while the brand's upmarket collection is shrouded in urban mystique.

Footballers aren’t magnets for sympathy, but spare a thought if you can for Paul Pogba. The Manchester United midfielder’s £89 million transfer fee means every touch, kick, and pass is measured in pounds and pence. This vibrant Adidas commercial says forget the numbers - it’s all about the name.

Many have seen this as an attack on Under Armour's representations of uniformity and they may well be right. But really it's just a different take on Nike's long-running theme of championing individualism and there's little, if anything, being said here that hasn't been said a million times before. Still, as always, it's being said very stylishly and its glossiness certainly furthers the notion that Adidas are one of the - ahem - biggest players in their field.

Adidas
"Diego Costa"

23 Aug 2016
This 15" Adidas commercial should give Chelsea supporters on Instagram a reason to cheer... and fans of every other English Premier League team a reason to jeer. The Spaniard's divisive reputation is in focus as the striker disappears behind layers of brick, iron, and concrete only to burst forth with a smirk on his face. Cartoon flourishes tie in well with the brand's recent output announcing the new season.

This graphical riot of an Adidas commercial preaches to those who prefer a little less conversation and a little more action when it comes to the beautiful game. At the heart of it all is Paul Pogba, the France and Juventus midfielder currently caught up in this summer's obligatory transfer saga - and it's clear the Manchester United target is tired of the chit-chat.

Director Christopher Riggert and cinematographer Simon Duggan have captured the raw energy of these young men in the most extraordinary fashion. The camerawork that tracks them as they sprint at full tilt through fields burdened by agricultural debris is highly exhilarating and makes for an amazing spectacle and once again demonstrates that Adidas has a real edge when it comes to portraying a certain kind of grit.

Adidas pledge to make the Theatre of Dreams a reality for a lucky group of young footballers with this trick-laden commercial. Chief's Yonatan Weisberg follows three potential stars as they show off their ball skills within the bowels of Old Trafford before heading down the steps towards the famous pitch. Considering Manchester United's current circumstances, Louis van Gaal may want to draft some of this lot in well before May 22nd.

This sensational film by RSA's Terence Neale has a group of upcoming artists and cultural influencers showing how they intend to forge their own way. They include Luka Sabbat, Kyu Steed, Aleali May, Ikwa Zhao, Reese Cooper, Design Butler, Yuki Matsuda and Iman Shumpert and if, like DAVID, you aren't familiar with any of them then it may be because - in the words of John F Kennedy - "the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans... born in this century".

"Our Pitch, Our Rules"

Slick and commanding, this Adidas ad encapsulates the reputation of the German national team with clever visuals and a steely team talk for a script. The lines of the pitch become battle lines as players and fans organise themselves with precision. It's a very well-crafted production and one that only strengthens the long-lasting bond between team and kit provider.

This dynamic film is 72and Sunny's first piece of work for Adidas and it's all about making a statement. Before joining a game of five-a-side, a young player takes to social media to tell the world's finest he's ready to shake up the hierarchy. His message is not about hollow words or boasting, but about forging his own destiny. The players he admits to idolizing in the past are now his opponents.

"Audience of One"

5 Aug 2015
Something of a companion piece to the brand's impressive "Superstar" commercial from earlier this year, this ad is on a smaller scale but retains the same moody gravitas and clever imagery. Talking heads including Pharrell Williams pay tribute to the power of the individual spirit amidst the din of reviews, statistics, and media coverage.

18 Jun 2015
The neat thing about this impressive film for Adidas is the way the celebrity of some of the world's most famous footballers is perfectly counter-balanced by a VO performance that has almost as much weight. Slow motion is used to excellent effect as the likes of Ronaldo and Gareth Bale strut their stuff before segueing to a familiar message about Adidas's core values.

"Messi"

25 Mar 2015
Even Lionel Messi has his critics. Hasn't won much at international level, has tax issues, iffy form with penalties... still, it takes a brave soul to argue against his greatness. While the VO talks down the Argentine's chances of ever reaching the heights of excellence, Messi stands defiant as the camera pans out; revealing his countless honours and vanquished opponents.

Even his fiercest detractors have to admit that Luis Suárez is one hell of a footballer. The bitey Uruguayan's seesawing contrition has done little to rehabilitate his image, but ultimately the fans at Barcelona don't care whether he's sorry for trying to sample Giorgio Chiellini's flesh during last year's World Cup - they only care whether he's putting the ball into the net on a regular basis.

Adidas
"Superstar"
90s
12 Jan 2015
This sharp little film oozes attitude. An array of stellar names graces the screen one by one as they relate in VO what we - the humble public - think a superstar may be. Is it someone who fills stadiums? Remains relevant at all times? Doesn't need a surname and has millions of people wanting to know what they ate for breakfast? Well, is it?

Adidas

After a disappointing World Cup, Lionel Messi headed back to Barcelona for some unconditional adulation and this commercial for Adidas suggests he's looking in the right place. Images of the messianic Argentine are projected on the walls and all those Catholics who promised to never worship false idols are forced to enthusiastically recant their vows.

16 Sep 2014
This attractive ad for Adidas Originals features Rita Ora, who we're told in the press release embodies the "unstoppable" energy and motivation associated with the brand. Aimed squarely at her fans (or Ritabots, apparently) it's likely to have lots of appeal with its emphasis on letting nothing stand in your way.

Arsenal's Mesut Özil has the perfect visage for this visually impressive commercial for Adidas. As you see his face being transformed into something ethereal, you realise that all they've done is exaggerate something that was there all along and that he may very well be from another planet. Icke was right all along!
