76’s Yann Secouet knows his way around a car shoot, and this Hyundai i30 commercial is another polished example. The advertised vehicle shines in a warehouse filled with light bars and illuminated buzzwords. The Korean marque wants us to know they’re always innovating… and making light work of it, too.

If the opening titles for Brooklyn Nine-Nine wasn't used as a reference for the music then DAVID is a monkey's uncle.

Overall, it's further evidence of the improvement to Hyundai's advertising since Jeremy Craigen brought his VW know-how to this account after arriving at Innocean.

This Hyundai ad sees motorists across the land awake to a sizeable delivery. It turns out the car manufacturer has streamlined the whole car-buying process by letting us buy online. Lord knows how all that cardboard is going to fit in the recycling bin. Alas, the Hyundai website says “box not included”. Shame.

It's safe to say the beautiful game has received some unwanted blemishes at Euro 2016 so far, but as an official partner for the tournament, Hyundai are determined to project an idyllic vision of supporters. The car manufacturer's sponsorship ad sees kick-off gallantly delayed by a Cristiano Ronaldo-esque player while a girl and her family make their way to their seats.

Hyundai's second celebrity Super Bowl ad features Kevin Hart as the world's most persistent father. Unimpressed by his daughter's choice of date, he uses his vehicle's Car Finder feature to tail the two all over town. The use of Queen's 'Another One Bites the Dust' suggests this isn't the first would-be suitor he's scared off, but referring to Hart as "Pops" does risk inviting a world of pain.

Wow, bears really are all the rage at the moment, aren't they? Hyundai get in on the grizzly action with this Super Bowl ad set in the wrong part of the woods. When it looks like these hikers have had it, the Elantra's voice response system allows them to make a quick getaway. Shame, really - all the bears wanted to do was give them a cuddle... and test their commitment to veganism.

Hyundai are launching four ads before and during Super Bowl 50, but there's little doubt which two are the big guns. Comedian Kevin Hart stars in one, while this effort stars Ryan Reynolds - and with the car maker wanting bang for their buck, they populate an entire neighbourhood with the man. The actor plays on his easy-going charm and leading-man looks as he proves to be a distracting sight for the female duo taking a drive through Ryanville.

"Makes the Ordinary Extraordinary"

Somehow, Hyundai have discovered a pace slower than park in this uninspiring ad for their new i40 model. The lack of urgency in both the VO and the visuals undermines the script from start to finish, though talk of transforming routine trips into "something special" does set the ad up for a fall from the off. Hyundai are capable of holding the audience's attention, but this falls well short.

An American, a German and a Japanese man - no, this isn't the start of some dubious joke. This trio of stern-faced executives glare through the glass of a dimly-lit lab as a Hyundai car is tested for performance and value. They are outraged at the quality the model offers - how can it be done for such a competitive price? Naturally, the American has the most mature perspective on the situation.

The driver at the wheel of this Hyundai Tucson risks serious neck strain as he tries to cope with the roster of surprising passengers in the back seat. Supers duly explain that the autonomous braking feature isn't a get-out clause for inattentive drivers, so they'll still need to keep their eyes on the road. Bummer. Still, at least no luchadores came a cropper in this ad.

Kelly Brook shows off her comedy skills in this fun viral for Hyundai which has her arguing with her other half as they choose between two Hyundais. Securing the model-turned-TV presenter-turned-actress's participation was the real coup here as it will guarantee a decent online audience for a piece of advertising that cunningly squeezes in enough product information to reward the car manufacturer.

"More Exciting"
30s
24 May 2015
Our new car isn't as exciting as our other new car, say Hyundai in a commercial that fails to demonstrate the excitement of either. This is the kind of advertising where the brief might as well have read: 'create a commercial that reminds the market that we still exist until you can think of an idea that might actually win us some useful attention'.

As Chris Hadfield proved with his cover version of David Bowie's 'Space Oddity', there's no better way of winning online love than by being an astronaut - and this lovely piece for Hyundai by The Sweetshop's John S Park offers further proof of this. In fact, mix in a shedload of sentiment and a grand stunt and you have the perfect formula for online success and it's little surprise that this clip has racked up 57 millions views on YouTube since it was posted a month ago.

"Bad Neighbour"

Injured and unable to drive, a man asks his neighbour to drive him to and from work. The mild-mannered fellow is transformed by the experience and soon he has the swagger of a man who feels he's missed his true calling (it could be argued - of course - that the car has transformed him into an arse, but let's assume anyone cynical enough to see it that way probably wasn't in the market for a Hyundai in the first place).

Once you've opened your eyes to the possibilities offered by the latest car from Hyundai, you'll see inspiration everywhere according to this cute little commercial for the Korean marque which translates inspiration as strange hallucinations. It's all very agreeable and conveys the idea that the advertised vehicle is an imaginative choice.

"The Glorious Journey"
30s
13 Jul 2014
In this spot, Hyundai - an "official partner of the World Cup" - has a car ferrying impossible quantities of people off to a match presumably because the brand wants to be shown facilitating "the glorious journey for all". We guess that means it's the car of the people, but watching folk pour en masse into the back more vividly conjures up the improbable number of Roman centurions shuffling into the hovel in Life of Brian.

If you've ever watched Top Gear and wondered what it would be like without the chummy antics of its ghastly presenters, take a look at this wonderful viral for Hyundai. Kit Lynch-Robinson - a veteran of the aforementioned bundle of motoring and prejudice - has put this together and his sure directorial touch ensures that it has the perfect blend of tension and humour. It's little wonder that it's racking up so many YouTube viewings.

Director Oliver Parsons (who also wrote this viral for Hyundai) has coaxed first class performances from the actors and - by establishing an intriguing notion in the first few seconds of the film - he ensures our attention is held throughout. This makes this viral stand out from other films of this ilk which often fail to achieve their core objectives.

Johnny Galecki - best known for his role in The Big Bang Theory - makes his commercial acting début for Hyundai. Quite a step seeing as he's resisted for 25 years. Here he tries to chat up an attractive woman who pulls up at the lights beside him, and as he attempts to keep up with her the events that unfold become ever more outlandish. US comedian Richard Lewis appears in the back of his car as a rambling passenger.

As dad rugby tackles his son in order to prevent a calamity befalling him, it looks like some of the situations are genuinely dangerous. But at the same time it's amusing watching the sheer peril this man puts himself in for his oblivious offspring; so it's a shame the 'here's the brand' bit afterwards didn't have as much conviction.

This is the second ad in a series that we praised fulsomely when it appeared on the telly box last year. More laid back this time around, with a Howie B track instead of the visceral thump of The Chemical Brothers, it suffers slightly from the law of diminishing returns - there isn't really any development from the first ad. but is nonetheless stylish in possession of a cool urban vibe.

This US commercial for Hyundai cleverly taps into the current vogue for all things zombie... and the fact that it was first broadcast during last Sunday's keenly anticipated first episode of the new series of The Walking Dead demonstrates the value of doing so.

This spot isn't just visually stunning - the inspired and unlikely track choice has breathed life into it... making you stop what you're doing and watch. Items tumble from the sky incongruously - from plastic frogs and flimsy kites to desk fans, shoes and skateboards - to form the advertised car.

"On demanding days," begins this variant in the Hyundai campaign again, you need help with your reversing. That opener makes it sound like the car will also cure headaches, period pains and IBS - but no: it simply helps the spatially-challenged. Basically, the winning message is: can't parallel park? This is the vehicle for you.

"On demanding days", announces the VO as a car veers between motorway lanes, you may benefit from a car that gives a "lane departure warning". That's all well and good, but isn't there a danger that focusing so heavily on safety features like this gives out a signal that you'd only buy this car if you're a shit driver?

Watch what happens when a man feeds the exhaust fumes generated by his Hyundai back into the vehicle as he awaits the icy grip of death. This viral is bound to put the cat among the pigeons but even its harshest critics won't be able to deny that it manages to communicate its message.
