"The hotel is just a metaphor," a bellboy informs us in this amusing ad for streaming service Now TV. It's a neat way to illustrate the amount of content users can access, and the hotel itself is appealingly distinctive in a Wes Anderson kind of way. Let's hope the unusual guests he encounters don't forget to tip - there's something a bit sinister about this chap.

Now TV go out of their way to convince viewers that their new streaming, broadband, and smart box package is sans contract. As Vic Reeves relates the all-important details in typically boisterous fashion, the telly on demand service throws a shindig dressed in their signature bright 'n' bold colour palette. Lively work which may convince those on the streaming fence to join the party.

"Grab A Little Christmas"

The magicians of online streaming aim to ensure families aren't short of a film to snuggle together for on the sofa this Christmas. Now TV's selection of recent blockbusters will no doubt attract those who've had their fill of terrestrial repeats, and this colourful ad trumpets the benefits of the platform with their trademark visual pizazz.

"Big Date Night In"

A big date night in isn't a mug of tea in front of the tellybox; it's a small glass of wine in front of the tellybox. Granted, though, the difference is that you can settle down to watch any number of things that aren't on terrestrial channels so it can feel like you're at the movies. Well, it is if you believe this spot for Now TV.

"Family Sofa"

Family night doesn't work if everyone's watching their own little screen according to the mum in this commercial for Now TV... it needs everyone to be looking at the same screen. There's some unintended irony of course but that doesn't mean it isn't true and many households will recognise the effort to get the whole family to enjoy a shared experience by concentrating on the one thing.

"Game of Thrones"

This chap is jolly pleased to have Now TV, because it means he doesn't need a contract to watch Game of Thrones. Quite frankly, DAVID feels the only thing you need to watch Game of Thrones is a mind that's lost touch with reality, but he suspects the irony would be lost on our fan who has happily enticed a raven to come out of his TV screen.

A brightly dressed Dynamo wannabe tells us that mind-blowing entertainment is just seven of our hard-earned pounds away. We at DAVID are all for access to top quality TV, but we'd still like to know whether those channels at Now TV require a Sky subscription. Maybe our budding magician made the small print disappear as well.

"Non-Stop Awesomeness"

Non-stop awesomeness is quite a claim but - as with a number of operators in this realm - the viewer is left feeling a bit unsure what's being advertised. Perhaps the reason Netflix has such a firm grip of this market is because everyone understands what it is and how it works. This looks like it's pretty similar to Netflix but could leave some wondering whether you need a Sky Subscription to gain access.

The problem with magic tricks on television is that they don't have to be real. That's why the likes of Derren Brown and Dynamo surround themselves with 'trusted' witnesses to provide close-up amazement when they show off their skills. Here, a young woman we don't recognise may or may not be performing tricks for real but who cares whether or not it's authentic - we certainly don't.

Our animated family are back in their onesies in this latest for Now TV, although the pooch is now a mobile Christmas tree and very pleased with himself too. It's lovingly done - there's real attention to detail in the creation of these figures, and we do like that dog a lot. We wonder if we can rig up similar outfits for the DAVID household cats - now that would be amusing.

The Now TV couple is hunkering down for winter; battening the hatches and snuggling up in their onesies in front of the tellybox. They're not doing a lot as the VO excitedly explains the benefits of the service, but fortunately our eyeballs are kept amused by the antics of the dog - also in a onesie - sidling up to the sofa so he can lie across the back.

This cheap and cheerful effort reminds viewers that the new series of The Walking Dead is almost upon us, and that it can be viewed via Now TV. Using CCTV footage of a petrol station under attack is a smart way of drawing attention to the delights of the popular US programme and will have fans chomping at the bit - so's to speak - as they await the fifth season.

An amusing look at life before Now TV shows the trials and hazards of attempting to catch programmes without the technology available to fully enjoy them. It compares each scenario with life post-Now; a vastly improved world where no family member is isolated and only the dog is still stuck in its pre-Now state of bucket-headed confinement, though apparently oblivious to its own plight.

As we've said before, this is a very crowded market, and it's hard (a) to stand out and (b) to demonstrate clearly what is being offered by any particular service. This manages to explain that one small piece of equipment can upgrade the functionality of your tellybox without you having to commit to an expensive smart TV.

For some people, paying a tenner to watch a single day's worth of sports on-screen is an option they'll happily take. For the rest of us, that just screams out: 'It's the equivalent of paying £300 a month for your subscription - what a rip-off!' The cost blanks out all the other information we're being told. We wonder how many takers they'll get.

A couple watch the latest films at home straight-away thanks to Now TV - a service provided by Sky. While watching a heist movie, a teddy bear uses laser beams to stop them eating popcorn which makes them feel part of the action. They look like they're enjoying the challenge until they discover what happens when they cross one of the beams.

Alice and Jenny are sat on their sofa in a hopeful state because they want to watch more of the biggest and latest movies. Instead though, they are faced with the prospect of battling dozens of pairs of chattering teeth coming at the from all angles. This is designed to highlight the availability of comedy film from the advertised service... though it works well for horror movies too.

Frank is keen to watch the latest movies so he's delighted when they land in his living room via the advertised service. It looks as though he may have to reconsider his enthusiasm however when it appears his appetite for action movies might cost him slightly more than a few quid a month... the gun barrel is aimed at his head.
