JULIA KNIGHT GETS TO WORK.

Cultured editor Julia Knight has become the latest addition to Work's roster.

Likening the art of editing to "chiselling a block of marble", Knight brings an aesthetic spark to her work. Having honed her craft at some of the industry's top editing houses, she's ready to forge ahead at Work.

Can you fill us in on Knight's background? She's been an artistic soul from the get-go. A Chelsea School of Art graduate with a dance background, she also plays a mean cello and piano. Such varied interests keep her creative juices flowing as she hits the editing booth.

I hear she's pretty prolific in there. Knight's experience means she's packed plenty of choice TVC and promo projects on to her reel. For instance, she toyed with rhythm and continuity with this sordid nostalgia hit for Arctic Monkeys.

Saucy. Takes a good eye to do that technique justice. It was a great opportunity for Knight to balance numerous stylistic elements. She says: "Every vision, mark, and cut adds to the life of the piece", and her contributions to 'Arabella' ensure it bristles with retro sensuality.

We have been fans of Julia's work for a long time... I'm thrilled to have her artistic sensibilities fully on board with Work.

 ”

Knight's ability to accentuate both story and technique has made her a reliable pick in the advertising realm. This Thomson Holidays ad depicts a holiday frozen in time, with Knight picking out moments of wonder with precision.

Work must be pleased to have Knight in the fold? Founder Jane Dilworth certainly is: "We have been fans of Julia's work for a long time. She is an incredibly creative editor who has worked with us on and off over the last few years.

"I'm thrilled to have her artistic sensibilities fully on board with Work across our three offices."

And what does Knight have to say about all this? She says it's all about recognizing her fellow cutters and technical whizzes: "We work in an industry dependent on our time and dedication, so it's crucial to celebrate all those departments and individuals who elevate the work to something truly special."
