BIG EVENTS TO CELEBRATE THE IPA'S CENTENARY.

The IPA is celebrating its 100th birthday in style with a series of impressive events. Alan Parker and Ridley Scott are among the luminaries taking part in the seven events, which are being held between Thursday 9th March and Sunday 12th March.

Some Early Bird tickets at £10 are still available but with Full Price at just £12, you should definitely take a look at what's going to be happening.

The IPA is only 100 years old? Bit rude. Yes they are and they're dusting off their finest tweeds, practising the Charleston and getting ready to par-taay!

Tell me more about the events. There are seven in total and they're dripping with Adland Royalty.

1. Wonder Women: Changing the Portrayal of Gender on Screen.

Host Fiona Bruce will be joined by novelist - and former copywriter - Fay Weldon as well as Grey's ECD Vicky Maguire to "debate the evolving role of women on screen and behind the scenes". Let's hope they can come up with the ideas needed to ensure this event isn't necessary for the IPA's 200th anniversary in 2117.

2. Pop Goes The Ad Break.

Hosted by Eamonn Holmes and featuring comedians Paul Chowdury, Bobby Mair and Bob Mills; creative guru Mark Denton; actor Lewis Macleod; and broadcaster Vanessa Feltz, this fun look at advertising will take the form of a comedy panel show.

3. The Future of Advertising.

Krishnan Guru-Murthy puts questions to his boss David Abraham, Google's Ronan Harris, and everyone's favourite advertising tycoon Martin Sorrell in a discussion about the post-Brexit universe which has been imposed on a thousand thriving media business by an unhappy group of white men in Scarborough. They'll also debate the likely impact of VR, AI and something being called the "fourth industrial revolution" which has us wondering if we missed a couple of revolutions.

4. Adam & The Ads.

Adam Buxton will be joined by character comedians Barry from Watford and Angelos Epithemiou to cheerfully make fun of some strange examples of advertising and the people who made them.

OOPS... THIS ONE IS SOLD OUT

5. Mad Men and Bad Men: when British advertising met politics.

Author of the best-selling 'Mad Men And Bad Men' Sam Delaney will host an impressive pair of major political figures - Norman Tebbit and Shaun Woodward - as well as Bill Muirhead and Jeremy Sinclair from M&C Saatchi in a discussion about the influence advertising has had on politics.

6. Ridley Scott on Advertising.

In this special filmed presentation, the legendary Ridley Scott reveals how his filmmaking was shaped by his experiences in adland. This will be followed by screenings of his work.

7. Alan Parker on advertising live.

In a live Q&A with Sam Delaney, Alan Parker will explain the link between his ad-making background and his first movie, Bugsy Malone. This will be followed by a screening of the film itself.
