DANIEL HOPE IS AN AARDMAN

Aardman Animation have signed Amsterdam-based animation director Daniel Hope to their roster.

Hope's quirky sense of humour fits right in with Aardman's ethos of visually stunning, hugely entertaining work. Seriously, who else would look at a bloke who takes 'the bottom drawer' literally and think yes, he's the man for us?

The bottom drawer?! It's exactly what you think.

I do love me a visual pun. Probably more than the purple cat did, at least. That short film (micro film, if there is such a thing) is a great example of why Hope will fit right in with Aardman's established roster - he's got a passion for visual comedy and the animation chops to back it up.

Daniel has a great understanding of story and characters along with a distinctive design style.

Is all of his work funny, then? A good chunk of it is, but Hope also has a taste for character exploration and the ability to tell a complex story in a bite-sized package.

Check out this ad he did for the Belgian Foundation Against Cancer - it certainly packs a punch in only 45 seconds.

Fascinating... so immersive. There's a real tenderness in that film. Hope's extensive experience with CGI and background in VFX make him quite the catch for Aardman. Plus, he's directed in a range of styles for every medium you can think of (shorts, commercials, idents...) and is currently experimenting with 3D printing and stop-motion.

Take a look at Daniel's January 2017 showreel to view some of his many projects and see just how diverse his range is.

Daniel's animation reel and other clips are available to view on Aardman's site. For more information on him or any of the other Aardfolk, get in touch with their commercials department, or give them a ring on 0117 984 8485.
