RATTLING STICK GETS FROSTY

After running his own production company, Honey Badger, for several years, James Frost has decided to get back to his artistic roots and focus solely on directing.

Rattling Stick have snapped up the director, known for his cinematic approach to storytelling and innovative use of technology, for their international roster.

Innovative use of technology, eh? Anything we might be familiar with? Radiohead's famous 'House of Cards' video, for starters! Frost created the ingenious promo without cameras, instead using lidar technology. A 3D laser scanning method, the technique is a usually used to measure distance for agricultural reasons.

And he scanned Thom Yorke's face with it? Naturally. Check out the promo - released back in 2008, it was the first music video to use 3D scanning technology to achieve its distinctive look.

Impressive. So he's got a passion for SFX behind the camera. Frost also has a knack for practical effects, as you might have guessed. His video for Ok Go's 'This Too Shall Pass' has to be one of the most elaborate stunts ever dreamt up for a pop promo - beginning with the fall of a single domino and ending with something a lot bigger...

Bloody hell, I wouldn't want to clear all that up! Mr Frost clearly has a knack for promos - does he work in other forms? His commercial work is just as innovative as his promos - don't you worry. Frost has worked with massive international brands over the years, and his stylish work has earned him numerous awards within the industry.

Check out this ad for Nike to see how the innovate concepts of Frost's promo work translate to adland. We're sure you won't be disappointed.

A human printing press - blimey, that's unique. With his return to directing full time, we get the feeling Frost is only getting started - who knows what he'll come up with next.

Founding partner and director of Rattling Stick, Ringan Ledwidge, agrees: "James has done so much compelling work over his career, it only took about three beers together to know he is the real deal. He's a great fit for Rattling Stick."

James Frost's reel is now available to view at Rattling Stick, if you want to treat your eyes some more. For more information about him or anyone else on the roster, get in touch with Josie Atkins at josie@rattlingstick.com or give them a ring at 020 7851 2000.
