JEFF LABBÉ JOINS FURLINED IN THE US

Commercials director Jeff Labbé has joined Furlined for US representation. The Louisiana-born filmmaker has been concetrating his energy on directing in the UK and Europe for some time.

Now he’s repped on home soil courtesy of Furlined. It’s just as well - the Americans need all the good news they can get at the moment.

Labbé was famously a late-starter, wasn't he? He claims he had “no clue what advertising was" until he was in his thirties. Still, better late than never. He soon established himself as an agency whizz before shifting into directing. While he’s gained plenty of experience, Labbé never stops learning.

He probably hates advertising jargon... so what's his USP? He aims for depth, injecting each idea with substance. Labbé's proven to be a shrewd operator when helping to take brands in unexpected directions. This KFC ad lulls you into thinking this is a documentary about life in the rodeo before revealing itself.

Not what you expect from the Colonel’s gaff, eh? Liking the mature approach. Well, the man likes working on ads with something meaningful to say.

He’s formed a fruitful relationship with Boots, having directed the retailer’s 2013 Christmas ad. Most recently, he shot this Boots No 7 ad starring Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Labbé matches the eloquent script with an autumnal spectacle.

Beautifully worked, that one. What else can you show us? Film fans will also be well-acquainted with Labbé's work. His EE cinema ads turned internet virals into mini-thrillers. As countless moviegoers will attest, he coaxed a fine performance out of this startled goat.

Good stuff - what do Furlined have to say about their new signing? Furlined founder, Diane McArter, says: “Jeff’s infectious enthusiasm and his love for advertising make it a joy and privilege to embark upon this journey together”.

Meanwhile, Executive Producer and Director of Development, Ben Davies, believes this is the ideal time to get Labbé on board. He says: “I am privileged and excited to take these next steps with a friend and creative partner.”

I kind of feel like John Travolta being handed the script to 'Pulp Fiction'.

 ”

As for Labbe? Labbé thinks it’s something out of Hollywood! He says: “I kind of feel like John Travolta being handed the script to Pulp Fiction.

“I’m steeped in excitement and can’t wait to jump into the US market. Diane, Ben and the Furlined team are a first-class group loaded with experience of craft and artistry. It’s going to be fun.”
