Canadian Club & Dry
"The Big Question"
45s
19 Sep 2017
This amusing ad announces Canadian Club's launch of their pre-mixed cocktail range Down Under. A series of blokes come to the shocking realisation that they actually don't like beer, one even mournfully hanging his head as he explains that he 'thought it was compulsory'. Generations of beer drinkers see the light when Canada Club & Dry slides down the bar as an tastier alternative.

JackpotJoy.com
"Succession"
30s
14 Sep 2017
Paddy McGuinness takes over as JackpotJoy's 'newest royal' in this ad. Barbara Windsor resists the line of succession at first, turning her nose up at Paddy's 'royal band' and, uh, corgi, but the offer of a cruise is too tempting to resist. This fits the tone of the brand's other campaigns, although we can't help but feel they missed a 'Carry On' joke with that dress fling.

B & Q
"Suits Your Style"
30s
18 Sep 2017
B&Q continue to jump between intimate domesticity and orange aprons. Seemingly on call for any renovation project, the DIY retailerís staff now make short work of this womanís living room. Nimble choreography and prop work convey the ease with which anyone can transform their homes. Good cushion juggling, too.

Channel 4
"RNIB Ad Break"
3 mins 20s
18 Sep 2017
This striking ad break for Channel 4 - created in association with the RNIB - draws us into a world that is rarely, well, seen. Using visual filters, we're shown how different eye conditions affect vision and contribute to its loss. It's an unsettling effect, demonstrating conditions such as glaucoma and cataracts as darkness creeps over familiar ads until they're barely recognisable.

Current Account Switch Guarantee
"Back on the Streets"
30s
18 Sep 2017
The Current Account Switch Guarantee guy is back with some more smooth moves. Still in his natty brown suit, he encounters and charms a range of people as he bops along to a very British interpretation of the Shaft theme song. This ad is very similar to the first in the campaign and suffers from the same issues - given that it has nothing to sell - but it's pleasant nonetheless.

New York Bagels
"Edna"
60s
19 Sep 2017
The Mayor of New York City may be surprised to learn he doesnít run the Big Apple - an eighty-something baker called Edna does. Thatís the conceit behind this entertaining New York Bakery ad. From the moment Edna opens her bagel shop, she keeps the city moving. Even if we canít sample the Edna treatment for ourselves, the brand have UK bagel fans covered.

Nutella
"B-Ready"
30s
15 Sep 2017
Nutella now comes pre-breaded, for those of us who are simply too busy to grab a knife and spread the stuff ourselves. This ad shows off a few scenarios where that might be plausible, although the dad fighting against movement and hungry kids on a train is the most compelling. A new delivery system is bound to get Nutella, ahem, nuts excited.

Dolmio
"Chicken Again"
20s
18 Sep 2017
Parents will recognise the kitchen table histronics at the heart of this Dolmio commercial. When dad announces itís chicken for dinner again, his daughter responds with a storm-force rebuke. Fortunately, normality is restored thanks to the brandís new tray bake mix. No sign of Dominic West, but this still provides ample entertainment.

ecostore
"Mural"
83s
18 Sep 2017
This poignant film for environmentally-friendly cleaning brand ecostore uses art to explore two very different versions of the future. Parents and children are interviewed about their vision of the world to come, as an artist creates two large canvases based on their musings. It's a thought-provoking piece, and demonstrates that although things may feel grim, it's important to keep working towards a brighter tomorrow.

Sing: Ultimate A Cappella
"One Way or Another"
30s
15 Sep 2017
Samuel Beckett fans will be glad to learn Sky One havenít produced a glitzy remake of ĎNot Ií. Rather, this lippy trail promotes the channelís new a cappella talent show. Sans instruments, these disembodied mouths cover Blondieís ĎOne Way or Anotherí. The broadcaster hope the series attracts the ĎPitch Perfectí crowd.

Lidl
"Heidi Klum"
30s
15 Sep 2017
Heidi Klum stars in this frantic ad for her latest clothing range - designed for Lidl. Things are colourful and high-energy from the word go, as shoppers strut around the stylised shelves. We're bombarded with prices as the clothes - which don't look particularly flattering - are given closeups. At the end of it, we're pretty relieved to say Auf Widersehen, Heidi.

Adidas
"Break-In"
60s
18 Sep 2017
One would think Real Madridís training ground would be more secure than this. The Spanish giants obviously didnít reckon on the Adidas Tango Squad. Named after the sportswear brandís classic football, this daring crew of freestylers launch a midnight raid. While budding stars are advised against breaking and entering, the brand commend those with top-flight bravado.

CBBC
"Go Jetters Meet Mastermind"
30s
18 Sep 2017
CBBC's globetrotting fact-finders the Go Jetters go Mastermind in this animated ad. John Humphrys gets cute-ified in his animated form, interrogating a unicorn about the Matterhorn before the questioning tables are turned. It's a way to inspire adult affection for the kids' show, although we're not sure what an animated unicorn would choose for a specialist subject. Squatty Potty, perhaps?

Bwin
"The Winner"
2 mins
18 Sep 2017
Avid readers of DAVID - as we're sure you all are - will remember the fantastic film which encouraged viewers to guess which car would win Bwin's mad dash through the city streets. This version reveals the winner... and a twist ending to the whole shebang. We won't spoil it, but keep watching until the end...

UNICEF
"Blue Glasses"
60s
18 Sep 2017
UNICEF urge baby boomers to support the next generation in this 60Ē appeal. We see a woman with a fondness for sky blue spectacles grow to see her own children flourish. Of course, not every child enjoys the same opportunities. Aided by some nostalgic production design, the charity hope more viewers consider a posthumous donation.

Co-operative Bank
"Ethical Banking"
30s
18 Sep 2017
The Co-Op emphasise the diversity of their banking customers with this community-minded ad. The bank promises to put money to good use and 'campaign for what's right'... although they neatly sidestep giving any indication of what that might be. It's an inoffensive film which seems unlikely to entice any new customers to the fold.

Tesco F & F
"Supermarket Woman"
30s
18 Sep 2017
More supermarket chic from Tesco F & F - just in time for the autumn/winter rush. This woman adds coats and leopard-skin tops to her modest shopping list. Pastel-coloured aisles and infinite milk bottles create a heightened vibe, accompanied by the VOís soul-tinged commentary. A clever means of tying the brandís grocery and fashion wings together.

Guinness
"Compton Cowboys"
90s
18 Sep 2017
The Compton Cowboys are a perfect fit for Guinness's 'made of more' campaign and Henry-Alex Rubin has created a lovely film celebrating the unlikely juxtaposition of urban gangs and equestrianism. But we find ourselves obliged to point out that this bears an uncanny resemblance to a 2016 film examining a similar project in Philadelphia.

Absolut Vodka
"Big Bang"
60s
15 Sep 2017
Having previously insisted love is indeed all around us, Absolut now go back to the beginning with this eye-catching commercial. Starting with the Big Bang, the Swedish vodka cram trillions of years worth of history into 60Ē. Director Emmanuel Lubezki crafts a brisk jaunt from dinosaurs to Pong and beyond.

River Island
"Autumn/Winter '17"
30s
15 Sep 2017
As the nights draw in, River Island step out with their autumn/winter collection. No dead leaves or the like here - just split-screen poses and sharp architecture. Meanwhile, M.I.A.ís jagged banger ĎOnly 1 Uí provides the urgent score. Might be awkward bumping into someone wearing the same top, though.

Co-op Supermarkets
"Round"
30s
13 Sep 2017
The Co-op continue going round in circles in the best possible way. The supermarket pick up from where they left off with their May revamp. Yet more circular imagery appears throughout this 30Ē follow-up. 100% British meat remains a core proposition, and the brand suggest we do our bit by sampling their £6 meal deal.

Squarespace
"Daniel Arsham"
30s
14 Sep 2017
Chefs, fashion designers, now contemporary artistsÖ Squarespace have creatives in their sights. Daniel Arsham takes his art - all gravity-defying hourglasses and uncanny feng shui - very seriously. The advertised website builder ensures his craft is well-represented, while modish production design appeals to refined audiences.

Buchanan's
"Choose Great"
90s
15 Sep 2017
Advertisers sure love Chris Hemsworth in a suit. The Australian and occasional God of Thunder ruminates on what separates good from great for Buchananís whisky. And the difference? Itís a gut feeling - aided by the blended spirit, of course. While the Thor actor flits between boardrooms and weddings, Framestore Picturesís Ahn Vu inserts enough fantastical elements to draw the eye.

H & M
"Karaoke"
2 mins 30s
15 Sep 2017
Rumour has it that those at the top of the creative tree at adam&eveDDB have been trying to identify an opportunity to incorporate Wham!'s Wham Rap! into a commercial for years. If this is true then they seem to have found the perfect moment to unleash it. This ad for H&M is given a huge dollop of energy by George Michael's perfect 1980s earworm, and you may find yourself forming a new appreciation for a song that once seemed quite inconsequential.

Radiohead
"Lift"
4 mins 07s
15 Sep 2017
For fans of early Radiohead the release of 'Lift' brings their mid-90s sound into the here and now, as fresh and powerful as ever. It's been bumping around in their live performances for years without ever finding a home on a studio album - but finally, it's enjoying a deserved moment in the sun and Oscar Hudson has made a stunning video to go with it.
