Barns Courtney
"Golden Dandelions"
3 mins 24s
27 Jul 2017
Barns Courtney's latest track is his strongest yet; his voice gathering in range and depth till it channels Scott Walker himself. Fittingly, 'Golden Dandelions' comes with a promo by Alex Southam which reflects the song's retro aesthetic; bringing together Courtney's lung-power, the miracle of existence, and its flipside, doom.

BBC Sport
"World Athletics Championships"
30s
27 Jul 2017
BBC Sport announce their coverage of the World Athletics Championships with this colourful ad. Dramatic music and a thudding heartbeat sound as we see snippets of big names including Mo Farah, Usain Bolt, and Katarina Johnson-Thompson. While this film lacks the pizzazz of their big-budget Wimbledon ads, it sparks the necessary anticipation for the event.

BBC Sport
"Tame the Course"
30s
27 Jul 2017
Since losing the Open Championship to Sky, the BBC have reverted to highlights and online/radio coverage of the golf showpiece. Iain Glen’s Scottish burr accompanies a Royal Birkdale flag battling the elements. Despite the R&A's recent criticism, the Beeb have at least nabbed the US PGA Championship. Every cloud, eh?

Umbro
"Medusae II"
3 mins 14s
27 Jul 2017
English sportswear brand Umbro riff on sports technology jargon in this amusing film. Besiktas and Portugal defender Pepe visits the Umbro lab for a sneak peek at the Medusae II boot. Cleat boff Tim Grimble overcomes his nerves to deliver a comprehensive pitch - alas, Pepe and his translator have other things on their minds. Sushi, anyone?

Tesco
"Fingers Crossed"
30s
27 Jul 2017
As the countdown to results season begins, Tesco have released this timely instalment of 'Food Love Stories'. Dee prepares her 'fingers crossed' paprika burgers while waiting for her son to get his exam results, trying to bring good vibes to the big day. The ad ends dramatically as her kid walks through the door - let's hope those lucky burgers worked.

Gucci
"Beyond"
74s
27 Jul 2017
This film for Gucci is proof that - despite the po-faced output we get most of the year - the beauty sector knows how to have fun. It takes the form of a beautifully measured series of spoofs of vintage Sci-Fi tropes. The opening shot brings to mind Star Wars's iconic opening titles before it shifts gear with a perfect pastiche of the original Star Trek series.

Soreen
"Office"
30s
26 Jul 2017
This lovely piece of animation has an old-fashioned feel to it and so does the script... in a good way. It introduces us to a shrill young woman who has only just discovered the delights of the advertised product thanks to her colleague Joe. Using the limited vernacular of social media, she expresses herself more through pitch and enthusiasm than actual words but her 'like' of the product is never in question.

Fabich
"Hold On"
3 mins 45s
27 Jul 2017
Break-ups are never easy… especially when your other half really can’t let go. This amusing promo for Fabich’s ‘Hold On’ depicts a desperate bid for reconciliation. Jemma is ready to move on with her life - easier said than done when your ex is holding on for dear love. Caviar’s Ollie Wolf runs with the track’s title.

Royal Mail
"The Heist"
74s
27 Jul 2017
A bank robbery takes a strange turn in this ad for Royal Mail. Created by M & C Saatchi and directed by Simon Ellis, the dramatic film shows a gang of masked men invading a bank and taking customers and staff hostage. The terrifying scene takes an unexpected direction, however, when it becomes clear that the criminals are after their victims' identities.

Tesco
"Personal Shopper"
20s
27 Jul 2017
As parents run the gamut of school uniforms, Tesco introduce a personal shopper to help. Abigail - “a small child!” - puts the supermarket’s F&F range to the test. Director David Stoddart coaxes a likeable performance from his prodigious sales advisor, but is it enough to draw families away from Tesco’s budget rivals?.

Dej Loaf
"No Fear"
3 mins 01s
24 Jul 2017
A sassy promo for 'No Fear' has Dej Loaf taking us on a journey across the California desert... on her bed. While we can't feel much love for the track, the CG action keeps us invested as we move from a bed trip to a head trip via Dej Loaf's ear. Multiple versions of the singer appear once we emerge back into the real world... a neat conclusion courtesy of director Rubberband.

HSBC
"Let's Ride"
60s
7 Jul 2017
Another clever tie-in using a Channel 4 programme has the children of The Secret Life of 4/5/6 Year Olds talking about cycling to underline HSBC's new bike-based initiative. And they're not just talking - they are in the playground, being healthy and having fun on two wheels. Great support to the recent main ad.

Jaguar
"Show of Force"
60s
26 Jul 2017
This stylish ad for Jaguar riffs on the topic of anticipation. We see slick images of a snake coiled to strike, a diver about to spring, and a horse ready to charge, as Mark Strong describes 'the tantalising seconds before unleashing' in voiceover. Slow-motion shots heighten the drama, as waves crash and the new Jag takes off into the distance. Absorbing stuff.

Alice Jemima
"Take Me Back"
2 mins 38s
26 Jul 2017
This halcyon Alice Jemima promo says thanks for the memories. A woman summons past acquaintances in a near-permanent daydream. Director James Heaphy flits between past and present as the protagonist revisits time well spent. A chilled soundscape and Jemima’s delicate vocals complete the video’s summery vibe.

Tom Grennan
"Found What I've Been Looking For"
3 mins 14s
26 Jul 2017
Powerhouse vocalist Tom Grennan returns with this stark promo to accompany 'Found What I've Been Looking For'. Shot primarily in black and white, with brief flashes of golden light for contrast, the video lets Grennan's voice and understated performance stand alone. Blank backdrops place the singer front and centre as a relentless guitar line lifts the raw vocals from the void.

Google
"Project Fi"
30s
26 Jul 2017
Not to Scale’s Mate Steinforth crafts these touchy-feely 15” Google ads. The tech giant’s Project Fi network promises a robust signal and generous data credit - represented here by three colourful fuzzballs and a spongy piggy bank. Steinforth’s tactile animation ensures a bright, compelling outcome - "oddly satisfying”, indeed.

Direc TV
"Free"
30s
26 Jul 2017
Michael B. Jordan plays a sleek spokesperson in this offbeat ad for DirecTV. The streaming service promises TV without boundaries, illustrated by Jordan burning an annual contract and smashing a telly box... before things get significantly more abstract. Director Wayne McClammy and Jordan have worked together before - although there wasn't any pantsless floating last time.

Nike
"2-D Meets David"
41s
26 Jul 2017
2-D gets around, doesn’t he? Following another night on the lash, the Gorillaz frontman finds the keys to Stamford Bridge. Roman Abramovich may wish to review his security. The hungover sprite even finds his way into the Blues dressing room - and meets a nonplussed David Luiz. Well, that’s one way to launch your home kit.

Puma
"Camouflage"
90s
26 Jul 2017
Arsenal’s kit deal with Puma has produced some memorable work. This slick 90” film eschews first-team regulars in favour of unsigned talent. Hair cut and nails done, this diverse group has business to attend to. The six converge on a multi-storey car park. As the sun goes down, this three-a-side game sparks into life.

Tesco
"The Tender Tomato Grower"
30s
26 Jul 2017
Tesco’s ‘Food Love Stories’ strand now hits the fruit and veg aisle. Having caught the gardening bug as a child, this tomato picker takes pride in his harvest. The man’s in his element as tomatoes stretch as far as the eye can see. By returning to the source, the supermarket assures customers that their fruit is handled with care.

Nationwide
"Generation Z"
60s
26 Jul 2017
The latest film in Nationwide's poetic campaign sees Tyreece Akwasi Asamoah ruminating on the media's portrayal of information-age babies 'Generation Z'. While young people are depicted as 'lazy and meek, glued to smartphones', he explains, they are actually the ones fighting to build a future from the ashes of Trump, Brexit, global warming... you get the picture.

Plenty
"Super Juan"
30s
25 Jul 2017
As we’ve seen with the likes of Gio Compario and Aleksandr Orlov, a slight tweak here and there can keep long-running campaigns fresh. Say what you will about Juan Sheet - Plenty’s resident Spaniard has staying power. The matador first appeared in 2010 and has been spooking housewives ever since. It’s about time he received an upgrade - meet Super Juan.

San Pellegrino
"Bottlecaps"
60s
25 Jul 2017
Director Anders Hallberg focuses on the humble bottle cap in this globetrotting ad for San Pellegrino. Empire of the Sun provide the soundtrack as we follow a stylish group of friends from Milan around the world, decadently sampling the local cuisine and swigging fizzy water all the while. The brand's distinctive bottle cap provides a link between the scenes... although a vase of them on your coffee table is probably a bit much.

Nothing But Thieves
"Sorry"
4 mins 02s
25 Jul 2017
How would you spend your last two hours on Earth? Director Thomas James asks if we have any plans for doomsday in this Nothing But Thieves promo. Some drink to forget, others run for the hills… though business is booming for one riverbank preacher. As frontman Conor Mason sings “I’'m ready for it/I've been waiting so long”, the inevitable looms large.

My Black is Beautiful
"The Talk"
2 mins
25 Jul 2017
P&G's anti-racism 'My Black is Beautiful' initiative has been running for over a decade, and it's still going strong as BBDO New York and Malik Vitthal have delivered its most powerful ad yet. This two minute film travels through time to explore 'the talk' which black parents in America still feel they have to have with their children.
