Marika Hackman
"My Lover Cindy"
3 mins 15s
18 May 2017
UK Promos

Sam Bailey - band member of Francobollo and promo director into the bargain - has created a clip for Marika Hackman's 'My Lover Cindy' which will probably become known as the 'tongues' video. When a couple duel it out for supremacy in their relationship, gashes caused by the business end of an épée morph into mouths which are lipless, lascivious and attention-grabbing in a car crash kind of way. Gross but compelling.

Ghost Poet
"Immigrant Boogie"
2 mins 38s
22 May 2017
The title of Ghost Poet's latest release lends an additional layer of nightmarishness to the track itself. The word 'Boogie' carries a certain 70s jauntiness, evoking Elton John, Earth Wind & Fire, and John Travolta strutting his stuff. Here though, the dancer is a refugee; his dancefloor a war zone leading to a hoped-for sanctuary that simply turns its back on him.

BBC 4
"Music Idents"
80s
22 May 2017
BBC Four pay tribute to high fidelity with these well-crafted idents. Tangible and atmospheric, this suite harkens back to analogue’s heydey. Audiophiles will relish each close-up of tape recorders, audio reels, and phonographs, but it’s the backing track that shines. Mark Hellaby’s precise treatment demands a good pair of headphones or speakers.

888.com
"Ton Weight"
30s
21 May 2017
If you've ever wondered what a fruit machine's innards look like, this 888casino ad is a must watch. As watermelons slot into place on the surface, a ton weight dangles precariously above a conveyor belt of fruit. Nice operatic build-up - shame we don't get a satisfying splatter to round things off.

Kean
"Rabbits and Pineapples"
20s
22 May 2017
This charming ad for Cypriot juice brand Kean suggests it really does bring a cheery start to the day. The surreal, retro animation features pinepple-headed gym goers and race-winning rabbits, and has a hand-drawn feel which gives the film an appealing homemade vibe. The buoyant soundtrack is well suited to the overall energetic tone of the ad - all that pep from just a glass of fruit juice.

Lotus Toilet Roll
"The Forest"
60s
22 May 2017
Toilet paper and cuddly mascots seem to go arm in arm. Andrex have their puppy; Cushelle has a CG koala; now Lotus unleash an animatronic yeti. There’s nothing abominable about this beast, though - he just needs the loo, post-haste. Well-behaved furball that he is, he waits to use the nearby facilities. Lucky his resourceful companion grabbed some loo roll beforehand, too.

Asda
"Keen Cook"
30s
20 May 2017
Given the British summer's unreliable reputation, we can't blame this bloke for thinking outside the box when it comes to hosting barbecues. Everything's in place: burgers, salad tongs, bright-eyed children... though his partner thinks 7am is a tad early. Even if you value a lie-in over clear skies, Asda's range of grills and cookers should satisfy barbecue fans this summer.

Monarch
"Find the Feeling"
30s
21 May 2017
Monarch continue to belie their low-cost image with this attractively-shot commercial. The airline claims to know what we desire from our holidays, and they're committed to fulfilling our expectations for less. So long as the flights aren't this topsy-turvy, the airline's latest communication should resonate with budget-conscious travellers.

Suzuki
"American Wayne"
30s
20 May 2017
The ubiquitous Ant and Dec continue to find themselves hilarious in another instalment of Suzuki's long-running partnership with the lads. This time the artists formerly known as PJ & Duncan are behind the scenes, instructing car salesman Wayne to deliver his pun-laden pitch in an unconvincing American accent. The customers aren't buying it, but at least 'Tennessee Wayne' is enjoying himself.

The Times/The Sunday Times
"Rolling News"
20s
21 May 2017
This stark ad for The Times newspaper emphasises the importance of watching your words in the age of the twenty-four hour news cycle. The bold decision to leave the screen almost blank and silent for long pauses really hammers home the idea of taking time to consider things before putting words to paper. This stripped-down film is sure to stand out during any ad break.

Lotto Euromillions
"Best of Japan"
20s
22 May 2017
This amusing ad for Lotto Euromillions depicts a man who hasn't quite got to grips with 'the best Japan can offer'. Struggling with his hi-tech hotel room, he opens the curtains, turns on the TV, and even lights up the bathroom in his attempt to just switch the bedside lamp off. It's all innocent fun and games, at least until the vibrating bed turns on...

Papa John's
"Thirty Years On"
20s
19 May 2017
A little more care and this quickfire origin story for Papa Johns could have been something. We see Papa John selling his Camaro to fund his first pizza oven... the first steps towards a pizza delivery empire with otherwise forgettable advertising. Reassuring to know the chain will pour gallons of olive oil into their dough for good measure. Say when, indeed.

Sainsbury's
"Messy Eaters"
20s
19 May 2017
Sainsbury's embrace the messy side of food in this stylish instalment of their latest campaign. The actors here aren't afraid to get their hands dirty as they polish off notorious mess-causers like ice cream, tacos, and corn on the cobb. Bright shots of the thoroughly devoured snacks are accompanied by an upbeat soundtrack which gives the ad its own distinct character.

Nuffield
"Waiting List"
30s
19 May 2017
Nuffield know nobody likes to hang around when it comes to their health, and they empahsise the speed of accessing their services in this ad. With NHS waiting times at a record high, and the system itself being used as a political football, we can see why the image of a woman getting treated immediately so she can get back to normal will appeal to those with deeper pockets.

Compare The Market
"Kovonation Street"
55s
19 May 2017
A new series of amusing idents for Coronation Street - or Kovonation Street - from Compare The Market see Sergei and Aleksandr getting into mischief with a whole gang of new furry friends. Bad dates, fake five rouble notes, and a cheeky game of knockdown ginger suggest that life on the street is just as lively for the meerkats as it is in Corrie itself.

New Balance
"Joe Root"
80s
19 May 2017
Leather hitting willow provides the satisfying backbeat to this intense New Balance commercial. England Test captain Joe Root delivers a personal pep talk as he withstands an onslaught in the training nets. The brand encourages athletes like Root to keep looking forward - useful advice when you're receiving near-100mph deliveries.

Betsafe
"Against the Odds"
60s
19 May 2017
“Numbers - you can’t escape them” may be a dour opening gambit, but this BetSafe ad quickly finds its stride. A breathless montage of digits and statistics underlines how sport is more of a numbers game than ever… though punters have a secret weapon. We wouldn’t stake our life savings on passion alone, but it’s a punchy communication.

Muse
"Dig Down"
4 mins 15s
19 May 2017
It seems Muse have been watching re-runs of Max Headroom since their last release. Hair slicked and broadcasting from a VR dimension, the three-piece offer moral support to this bionic commando through various monitors. Call it future warfare with a foot in the past... though the track itself treads familiar ground.

Vodafone
"Full House"
30s
19 May 2017
It’s a sign of the times when we see a family gather for virtual reality night. There are plenty more gadgets on show in this Irish Vodafone commercial, all of which benefit from the network’s broadband coverage. Good use of slow-motion, too - more time to enjoy the family dog eyeing an airborne pizza delivery.

Canon
"Boundaries"
60s
19 May 2017
Perhaps wary of smartphones stealing their thunder, Canon wish to reassert their photography credentials. Life moves at light speed in this ad depicting youth evolving into young manhood. Like any good story, there are thrills and spills - and the brand wants every moment to look its best. There are no product shots or specifications, so it’s up to the viewer to follow Canon’s story thread further.

Operation Black Vote
"Jamal Edwards"
49s
19 May 2017
Operation Black Vote's latest rallying cry features media bigwig Jamal Edwards. As the 2017 General Election draws closer, Edwards encourages Black and Ethnic Minority viewers to take full advantage of their vote. The organization hopes success stories like Edwards's will help convince disenchanted voters they can make their mark at the polling station.

Operation Black Vote
"Riz Ahmed"
63s
19 May 2017
The ever-articulate Riz Ahmed demonstrates exactly why he has a successful rap career (y'know, in addition to being a world famous actor), with this impassioned film for Operation Black Vote. Addressing the issues facing BME voters in the run-up to the general election, we really feel Riz's passion as he makes the case for voting in change rather than standing on the sidelines. The deadline is midnight on Monday 22nd, folks - register now.

Nike
"Ellen"
40s
19 May 2017
This stylish commercial for Nike Russia has a woman running through the city encountering strange images - a pair of Shining-esque twins with liquid heads, a colour-changing snake, a flaming bicycle - before finally coming face to face with her own doppelganger. An eye-catching, pastel-tinged film which is sure to grab attention.

Nike
"Sever"
40s
19 May 2017
This 40” film sees Nike and director Ben Strebel take us on a breakneck tour of Moscow. One Muscovite’s impressive energy reserves take him from city parks to underground raves. Meanwhile, gnarly flourishes have the protagonist baring his teeth like an animal. Restless and in-your-face, the ad appeals to a specific breed of urban speed demon.

Nationwide
"My Sons"
60s
18 May 2017
Matt Harvey returns with another fresh perspective on 'the good old days' for Nationwide. While previous instalments in the poetic campaign have seen millennials rail against technology distancing us from our environment, Matt describes embracing its ability to bring us together - he wouldn't have been able to talk to his kids on the other side of the world via FaceTime in the seventies.

Sônge
"I Come From Pain"
2 mins 58s
18 May 2017
The first thing you notice while watching Zhang + Knight's promo for French singer Sônge is the palette. A myriad shades of blues and lilacs - so exquisitely put together it's spellbinding - leave you wondering whether it was a happy accident or whether the directors simply have a far more developed colour perception than the rest of us mere mortals.
