This emotive film for Finnish telecommunications provider Elisa shows the deterioration - and subsequent reconciliation - of a relationship between father and son. Director Pete Riski is a master of creating touching content, and his talents are beautifully exhibited in this poignant film.

Communication breaks down as a father struggles to connect with his son, who becomes increasingly distant with the slide towards adulthood. Much of their circumstances are left ambiguous (is the absence of a mother the key to the kid's withdrawal?), which gives a universal feel to the longing for closeness.

The son's teenage callousness is accurately depicted here, as is the dad's bewildered disappointment and attempts to stay in touch via social media. It all builds to a climax with a strong emotional payoff, as we see the kid still very much needs his old man, no matter how grown up he tries to seem. Excellent, emotionally honest work.
