Climbing the Swiss Alps together sounds good on paper. Perilous overhangs, oxygen tanks, and fourteen-thousand-foot ascents? Not so much. Fortunately, McDonald’s have a more grounded solution in store: their limited-edition Swiss Stack burger. Ideal for those who prefer Emmental cheese sauce to vertigo.

A brigade of deadpan grannies star in this instalment of McDonald's 'as good as grandma's' chicken tenders campaign. These Golden Girls aren't particularly upset that their cooking has been usurped, taking the opportunity to kick back and relax rather than commiserate. It's poolboys and parties rather than pots and pans from now on... we reckon they'll survive.

There's nothing like a home cooked meal... or is there? McDonald's attempt to disprove the old adage in this amusing US ad, featuring a grandma who's not entirely unhappy that her cooking is being usurped. There's a great central performance here, as the deadpan granny declares she's got better things to do than cook for her rotten family members.

McDonald's bring back their Roald Dahl Happy Meal promotion with this entertaining ad, directed by Luke Roulstone. What appears to be a simple parents evening conversation takes a turn for the surreal as the dad and teacher begin slipping Dahl's fantastical language into their conversation. We sense a bit of tension between them here... perhaps Gobblefunk is the language of love.

Leo Burnett once again demonstrate an uncanny ability to make the most of McDonald's cyclical propositions by injecting a little humour into the script. And by asking Tony Barry to direct, they gain hugely from his innate understanding of how a joke should be weighted.

McDonald's have created a compelling spoof in this glamorous ad for... their Signature upmarket burger range. While they're far from the first to parody to oft-maligned celebrity perfume ad, director Guy Manwaring is spot on here. The result is a highly entertaining send-up which manages to spoof without snarking, and is all the funnier for it.

"Chicken Legend"

The British are notorious for our love of an underdog, from Susan Boyle to Leicester City, so perhaps it's no surprise that McDonald's have given their latest 'Chicken Legend' the Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards treatment. We see a canoeist who isn't quite ready for his big race pausing to fix his glove before he sets off... losing his oar in the process.

With the Women’s European Championships underway, McDonald’s reveal how budding mascots can join the Netherlands action. Likeable animation depicts one girl’s journey from park kickabout to accompanying the England national team. Let’s see if the women can show their male counterparts how it’s done at Euro 2017.

McDonald’s revisit one of their trusted memes: coaxing children out of their funk with fast food. This French ad offers a sweet take on the formula. Envious of the attention her newborn sibling receives, this girl exchanges notes with dad under her bedroom door. When their correspondence reaches an impasse, he sends the perfect reply.

We know that most of the people who work in advertising thoroughly disapprove of fast food and of McDonald's in particular, so many of our audience will not recognise the excited behaviour of normal children when they learn that a visit to the chain is imminent.

A couple get their money's worth from a pair of red inflatable chairs in this deadpan ad for McDonald's. We see them kicking back in the pool before the film cuts to them having a significantly less relaxing time in front of the telly at home. We're assured the Mayo Chicken Sandwich is the same value for money... with less squeaking involved.

McDonald's turn to their staff for testimony about how the fast food giant has helped them in this feel-good ad. Employees detail the ways their job has improved confidence and developed leadership skills, and the unscripted feel of their praise gives the film a sense of sincerity. This does a good job of portraying Maccy D's as a valuable step into employment.

As Britain clamours for a new identity after our fit of Brexit pique which has the rest of the world characterising us a nation of self-harming buffoons, we could do worse than look to Sweden for inspiration. Here is a country which takes pride in multiculturalism without adding bigoted caveats to appease racists and a country which prides its ability to collect tax from wealthy companies to fund a well-resourced safety net for the less fortunate member of society.

McDonald's wisely avoid controversy with this deadpan ad for their Louisiana Stack burger. Two women discuss lunch plans while waiting for the lift, one slowly transforming into an all-American cheerleader as she describes the ingredients for her burger. Her friend soon gets in on the action with an over the top mascot costume. We're just glad she wasn't planning on a filet-o-fish...

“Mum, what was Dad like?” It’s a weighty opening gambit for a McDonald’s ad, and gives the fast food giant the opportunity to strengthen its emotional connection with its customers. As mother and son take a stroll, the latter worries he's no match for his dad... before a trip to McDonald’s touchingly reveals a common thread.

"Phone Shop"

A boring trip to renew a phone contract is transformed by a touch of country glamour in this funny ad for McDonald's. This time focusing on the South Carolina Stack, it features a a couple who are turned into cowboys by the very mention of the burger's ingredients. The performances here are excellent, particularly the deadpan dude who returns transformed into an American football player.

It’s that time of year when McDonald’s add a Yankee flavour to their menu. First up is the Tennessee Stack, and this amusing commercial promotes it with… well, minimal enthusiasm. Two office workers idly discuss their lunch plans. One bloke mentions the fast food chain’s Tennessee-inspired burger - morphing into an American badass as he lists the ingredients.

"Dog Walkers"

McDonald's transform a couple into baseball players in this fun ad for the annual Great Tastes of America menu. This film celebrating the New York stack burger sees the man acquire a new bit of costume every time the camera cuts back to him, including a questionable mullet and catcher's mitt. Eventually even the dog gets in on the action and acquires a uniform of his own.

An amusing montage from McDonald's shows the variety of ways the morning can get away from us. From the moment the alarm goes off a combination of shower mishaps, missed buses, and unruly kids are bound to scupper any idealised notion of how the day will begin. At least we can sort breakfast with a quick trip to the local Maccy D's.

A hapless treasure-hunter comes across something a lot less valuable than he was hoping for in this funny ad for McDonald's. He needn't be too down about his detector disappointment though, not when a consolatory Big Mac leads to him winning a prize so impressive he shrieks with delight. An entertaining performance from the lead.

McDonald's annual Monopoly ad returns - this time with a scientific twist. While the pair of researchers here aren't exactly Indiana Jones, they react with appropriate excitement when they stumble upon a pristine artefact they've been searching for. As they rush to preserve the precious parchment, however, disaster strikes...

This Kiwi McDonald’s ad offers an amusing spin on being a middle child as the girl endures every kind of indignation that comes with having the middle seat. Whether it’s selfish brothers, over-friendly dogs or the weekly shop, it’s tough being at the centre of it all.

This quirky spot for McDonalds has Steve - an employee at the fast food chain - trying to persuade Will (sitting next to him on the bus) that beef, the whole beef, and nothing but the beef goes into their burgers. When Will doesn't believe him, both they and the other passengers are transported to the processing plant which proves Steve's assertion. Stylishly done.

McDonald's appeal to customers who like to get their money's worth with this funny ad for their saver menu. A wife finally gets some peace and quiet to dry her hair... only to find her husband turning the leaf blower on her now he's finished with the garden. Like the rest of the ads in this campaign, this is short, punchy, and gets a chuckle in an effective 20".

McDonald's show how a broken lift becomes a sweet bonding experience for two women. Trapped alone together and awaiting rescue, the women share water, shoes, a scarf, secrets, stories, and a pair of headphones, but not even their new found friendship compels them to share the McDonald's Chicken Selects which is handed to them by their rescuers.
