There’s plenty of joie de vivre in this 60” ad for Eurostar. These travellers discover what can happen when you just say oui. A lot, as it happens - you’ve just got to have the right mindset.
There’s a vintage look to the film stock, giving the ad a chic, cinematic quality. Combined with some zippy visual flourishes, the overall mood is playful and freewheeling. Long lunches, lost and found love, and discovering one’s dancing shoes… sod the itinerary and just roll with it.
Each cut draws the eye with a burst of colour or a quirky prop. Even the simple act of asking for directions is told through a breathless montage. Your smartphone may feel neglected, but c’est la vie.
With the UK in the midst of a continental drift, as it were, it’s good to see Eurostar reaffirm the benefits of venturing across the Channel. The end result stems from Somesuch handling both the creative and the production. It’s a bold move, but the brand have been rewarded with a vivid paean to travel.
