Aleksandr and Sergei find themselves mixed up in some superhero hi-jinks in this tie-in with upcoming Marvel blockbuster Spiderman: Homecoming. Peter Parker's backpack becomes switched with Sergei's... and who wouldn't give it a go if they found the spidey-suit in their possession? Things quickly become more sticky than super for Meerkat Man.

A new series of amusing idents for Coronation Street - or Kovonation Street - from Compare The Market see Sergei and Aleksandr getting into mischief with a whole gang of new furry friends. Bad dates, fake five rouble notes, and a cheeky game of knockdown ginger suggest that life on the street is just as lively for the meerkats as it is in Corrie itself.

Alexsandr is down in the dumps in this installment of Compare The Market's long-running campaign. With Sergei taking the day off, Alex mopes around the house to the mournful strains of 'All By Myself'... at least until he meets his friend (just friend?) to watch a movie. The 'Friends' reference with the solo game of ping-pong is a nicely bromantic touch.

This latest Compare the Market film tie-in sees the familiar duo enjoying Marvel's new blockbuster, 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2'. As Rocket Raccoon blows a gasket onscreen, Aleksandr reveals Rocket is simply a CGI creation - blowing Sergei's mind. As two of advertising's pre-eminent CG mascots, it's a fun meta moment from Aleksandr and Sergei.

Poor Sergei. The venerable meerkat once again falls victim to Aleksandr's rapier wit during a two-for-one cinema jolly. This time, the whiskered duo is watching the live-action remake of 'Beauty and the Beast'... and Aleksandr can never resist a good pun. One can only imagine would life would've been like had Sergei picked Nicole Kidman instead.

Aleksandr and Sergei give Kate and Leo a run for their money in this amusing movie tribute. The furry friends (or maybe more) take the iconic 'king of the world' pose over a stray chunk of shrimp, inhaled during a romantic dinner on deck. Will the pair become the first same-sex meerkat couple on TV? Sergei seems to hope so...

For the latest instalment, we're offered an update on Oleg - the baby meerkat adopted by Aleksandr and Sergei three Christmases ago and taken back to Africa the following year. These updates are perhaps set to become a regular part of a Christmas push by the price comparison site as we rejoin the youngster in a winter wonderland.

This Compare The Market commercial pays tribute to both 'Speed' and 'Anchorman 2' in one fur-raising trip to the local multiplex. Sergei insists 49.3 mph is the optimum speed to reach the snack counter in time, though he and Aleksandr are put through the slo-mo ringer thanks to some ducks crossing the road. Lovely nods to baby Oleg dotted around the RV, too.

Somehow, Macaulay Culkin manages to do this as he takes a day off from headlining online click-bait articles to appear in the latest Compare the Market film. This campaign has had many high points so it's bound to have the occasional off day and Culkin provides one.

WIth 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' receiving another PR blow in the form of cast member Jeremy Irons's critical perspective, at least Compare The Market's Aleksandr and Sergei are doing their best to elicit some goodwill towards the film. If you thought Ben Affleck's casting as Batman was controversial, how about Aleksandr Orlov as the Caped Crusader? He and Sergei get into the spirit of 'Batman v Superman' by dressing up as the title characters - alas, car trouble leads them into Del Boy and Rodney territory as they pound the streets to make the premiere in time. Another fun outing for Compare The Market's adaptable stars.

Nicole and Sergei's cinema trip has evidently gone well, seeing as they're now sharing an intimate candlelit dinner a deux. Unfortunately however, Aleksandr intrudes to accuse his friend of fickleness - whatever happened to their philosophy of "mates before dates"? he demands. Thus ensues a stand-off between the human actor and the animated puppet for the affections of a bowtie-wearing meerkat. You couldn't make it up. Oh.

Not content with being brand ambassador for exclusive airline Etihad, Nicole Kidman is perfectly happy for us to assume she dates meerkats. Specifically, Compare the Market's Sergei. Eschewing the thrilling prospect of an evening's worth of ironing, the bespectacled one spruces himself up for a cinema date with the actor because he can enjoy the two for one deal offered by the brand. These lovely Meerkat bumpers for Coronation Street are brief but amusing spoofs of famous movies, as befits the brand's promotion of 2 for 1 cinema tickets. Zombies, aliens and classic westerns are all fodder for the seconds-long spots, and all take place on the well-trodden cobbles of the Street. Hilda will be spinning in her grave.

Give Arnold Schwarzenegger a film to promote and he'll give you 100% every time... so it's no surprise the outcome here is very good. Luckily for VCCP and their meerkat-wrangling director Darren Walsh, Arnie's all about the new Terminator film at the moment and would probably agree to a ménage à trois with Aleksandr and Sergei if it would get a few more bums on seats.
