Nestlé Cheerios
"Mornings"

UK Cereals

This is a strange beast indeed, and we're not talking about the actual ad. No - 'morning' is the beast in question; depicted here as a mischievous monster hellbent on sabotaging the smooth running of breakfast time. But having hidden shoes and mislaid keys, he's tamed by the sight of the family enjoying their Cheerios and even washes up. A predictable response, no?

Nestlé Cheerios
"André, Jonathan & Raphaëlle’s Story"
2 mins 55s
8 Oct 2014
If this isn't the most touching piece of advertising you watch today then we'd like to know what is. A gay couple speak about becoming parents to an adopted child with such love and tenderness that it's a struggle to comprehend how anyone could possibly oppose the opportunity that's been provided to them by a more enlightened approach.

"The Cube Sponsorship"
30s
1 Mar 2014
This set of bumpers sponsoring The Cube has a family earnestly taking part in a spoof episode of the aforementioned programme. In their kitchen, they set themselves Cube-style tasks using boxes of Cheerios as props. It's simple, amusing and manages to make both the show and the product as prominent as each other.

Nestlé Cheerios
"Jewel Beetle"
30s
17 Feb 2014
The previous spot (for Shredded Wheat) focused unconvincingly on sources of fibre, but here, the premise is stronger. Our intrepid survivalist is propounding the 'jewel beetle' as a source of calcium. "If I can just round up a hundred of these bruisers," he tells us, psyching himself up to pop the first in his mouth. But the star of the ad is the sound recordist chomping on Cheerios. Just look at him. If that mischievous face doesn't make you want to smile right back, there's no hope for you.

"Gracie"

When this family appeared in a Cheerios ad last year, racists across America were outraged. Fortunately, the cereal company's focus group results suggests that there's mileage in standing up to bigots and they've given the mixed-race trio another outing. White supremacists certainly aren't going to like it - the virile black man has only gone and knocked up his missus again.

A little boy with a megaphone stands on a balcony alongside the girl who led a political campaign in the last commercial for Cheerios. He's shouting about a new variant containing chocolate which he nonetheless claims to be healthy because of the four different grains contained in the cereal.

Oh dear... it's bad enough timing to be offering "cruises" as a prize just after the Costa Concordia ran aground but how unfortunate is it that the animation squashes it in a fashion that suggests it's hitting rocks? And pluralising Swingball is a bit unnecessary, what ho.

Nestlé Cheerios
"Lucy"
30s
3 Jan 2012
Lucy is organising a campaign to draw parental attention to the news that Cheerios is one of the healthier breakfast cereals. It isn't surprising that punters aren't aware of this as the brand name makes it sound like it's one of the more sugary offerings.

Nestlé Cheerios
"Childline"
30s
29 Sep 2011
Nestlé are using an ad for Cheerios to launch a venture that offers support to Childline in Ireland. The voiceover could be better... if the word 'your' was stressed in the first sentence then the copy would make a whole lot more sense.

Nestlé Cheerios
"Saw"

1 Mar 2011
One of the animated monsters from the previous ads uses a saw to make a hole in the bottom of the box and he and his confederates gain access to the delicious pieces of cereal within. So if you think you have similar taste buds to a small animated monster, off you go.

"Give Those Os A Go"
20s
15 Mar 2010
A collection of creatures who look disturbingly like the germs in a Domestos commercial peer through a telescope and spot a few bits of the advertised breakfast cereal screaming their way towards Earth. They are persuaded to try them... but are you?

Nestlé Cheerios
"Honey"
20s
1 Mar 2010
Four bizarre-looking animated characters chase the advertised product as it buzzes around. The reason it's buzzing? It contains honey which is made by these and, as you may know, these both fly and buzz. See... it all makes sense when you examine it closely.

If advertising commentary was provided by football crowds then we reckon they'd be singing: "are you the Vauxhall Corsa puppets in disguise?" in response to this commercial for Nestlé Cheerios. Five strange little creatures enthusiastically cavort with the product.

Nestlé Cheerios
"Oats"
30s
25 Jun 2007
If you didn't know before seeing this ad that Cheerios has a new variant made from oats, you'll certainly know it afterwards as it's mentioned a few times. Just as well the advertiser is so conservative or DAVID suspects there would be a "getting his oats" gag in here somewhere.

Nestlé Cheerios
"Every Last One"
30s
26 Feb 2007
Cute family scenes for Cheerios as we see how everyone likes to make sure they finish every last one of the circular breakfast cereal pieces. Even a schoolboy of the age normally stereotyped as sullen cannot help but smile when his Mum points out he has one stuck to the corner of his mouth.

"Happily Eating"

19 May 2005
Cheerios is presented here as one of the few foods children enjoy which are actually good for them. A cheery sequence of family scenes underlines the point in including two boys eating in their bedroom; a Mum nicking one form her daughter's bowl and a son eating directly from the box after returning late.
