Martin Freeman is at his mansplaining best in another entertaining ad for Vodafone. This time he's caught up in a car chase, ordered to act natural after the crooks pull up beside his car. Freeman takes the time to moan about his rapidly-heating shrimp and lecture a woman on how her phone works... while she's busy saving the day. We wonder if he'll actually get punched before this campaign is over.

Vodafone's new spokesman Martin Freeman can do no right at this sun-drenched wedding. Having previously ruined the happy couple's first dance, he tries to keep his head down... only to flatten another guest's fancy headwear. Rounding off an enjoyable trio of ads, Freeman's violent attempts at hat repair give good value for money.

The infinitely-punchable Martin Freeman plays to his strengths in this ad for Vodafone. The actor plays a wedding guest with an extremely poor sense of timing, who takes it upon himself to discuss roaming data charges at precisely the wrong moment... The cringe factor is high as he keeps digging a hole trying to undo his faux pas, which of course only makes things worse.

This funny follow-up to Vodafone's cringe-laden wedding ad sees Martin Freeman return as a guest who just can't accept he's made a complete tit of himself. The 90" running time here lets the comedy breathe, as Freeman resorts to unloading his woes ("They actually ruined my conversation.") on an accommodating young guest. His focus on the bride's height is particularly amusing.

It’s a sign of the times when we see a family gather for virtual reality night. There are plenty more gadgets on show in this Irish Vodafone commercial, all of which benefit from the network’s broadband coverage. Good use of slow-motion, too - more time to enjoy the family dog eyeing an airborne pizza delivery.

Christmas plans rarely run smoothly as this Vodafone ad shows. While his mates enjoy the festivities down the local pub, this chap's stuck on a broken down bus in the middle of nowhere. Thanks to the network's 4G coverage, however, he's able to join in a good old fashioned game of charades... along with his fellow passengers. Not sure about their guessing skills, though. 'Air Dog'? Seriously?

Vodafone customers let rip in this eye-catching ad promoting the mobile network's decision to consign line rental charges to the scrapheap. The celebratory mood extends to various living rooms as customers create their own confetti from redundant bills before the action spreads to the streets. It's a bold move from a provider keen to improve its foothold in the home broadband market, and one backed by a lively commercial.

You can roam about as you please now when you're abroad, thanks to the latest red bundles from Vodafone which include data roaming. That's why the locals at myriad tourist hot spots are getting ready for the onslaught well in advance - as traffic cops practice in their bedrooms, guides give talks to empty coaches and chefs get forensic in the kitchen.

This lively Vodafone commercial stars a chap living life in the affirmative thanks to the mobile network's supposedly "best ever" coverage. Whether standing on top of a hill or face first into a blinding gale, 'full bars' mean nothing can temper his enthusiasm. The carrier then offers customers the chance to cut ties after a thirty day trial if they decide to say, well, "no".

First there was Peggy Sue, now Vodafone introduce us to Terry the Turkey. We know from the off that the bird is destined to grace the table on Christmas Day, but we get a lovely look at how Terry becomes a feathered friend for all. Once we see the snow on the ground, it looks like Terry's finally had it... but Vodafone always has a happy ending in store.

Vodafone have proved adept at fine-tuned sweetness in their recent output, so it's little surprise that their Christmas ad for the Irish market perfectly balances a heart-warming story with the brand's message. As the festive season gets into full swing, one little girl's mind seems to be elsewhere. Decorations and Christmas shopping merit just a cursory smile from her - whatever is in that letter to Santa Claus must be of the utmost importance.

"Piggy Sue"

7 Oct 2015
Having brought a lump to our throats earlier this year, Vodafone remake their 'Piggy Sue' commercial for the Irish market. The accents may have changed, but the same sweet story remains as a postie tries his best to reunite a pig with its owner - only to find he's grown rather attached to the custard cream-loving swine. A lovely story and one that emphasises the brand's dedication to helping us communicate through a variety of means.

In a sweet-natured and persuasive piece of communication, Vodafone are here to save the day during a noisy bus trip. This sweet commercial from Ireland for Vodafone uses Helen Shapiro's rock 'n' roll classic 'Walkin' Back to Happiness' to great effect as we're shown various romantic gestures which deliver a little something which can make a big difference. The connection to the mobile phone network is a bit spurious - in truth - but this is an assured DAVID début from director Andy Poyiadgi.

This sweet ad for Vodafone New Zealand tells the simple tale of a man and his pig. After chancing upon a lost swine on his travels, the kind-hearted protagonist tries every means of reuniting Sue with her owner. Once he finds out where she came from, though, he can't bear to part with her. It's a charming depiction of a genuine bond developing between the two and all in the space of just ninety seconds.

The little dancing dudes in the previous Vodafone ad get the limelight all to themselves here, in an ad which plugs Vodafone's 4G tie-in with Spotify Premium. Apparently the routine is all their own which is rather impressive, and it's a nice twist to have them being so street'n'all while still kitted out in their primary school uniforms.

One of two guys who work as animators tells us - with a bit of prompting from the other - why he switched to a SIM-only contract with Vodafone. Apparently he likes his phone and his original contract had ended so it made sense and gave him a better deal. Which suggests a) he's not making much money and b) that he never needed the original, more expensive contract Vodafone sold him in the first place.

Those essential people who keep things running even on the biggest day of the year feature in this spot from Vodafone, which unites disparate pockets of workers - in hospitals, on farms, in kitchens and on the road - by showing them full of cheer as they sporadically watch Frozen on their phones and other devices.

A quietly moving ad for Vodafone features a phone call from a hospital to a patient awaiting a transplant. As we hear the voices speak down the line, we see home video footage of the patient - John - of him as a boy; as a healthy young man; in a bed trailing tubes. It uses ambiguity well and it doesn't matter that you're not getting the whole story - the gist is enough.

This German ad for Vodafone is by turns intriguing, exhilarating, funny and poignant. Once again, Grey London's work for Vodafone in Ireland provides some of the strongest advertising for a mobile phone network anywhere in the British Isles. The 6.4 million people south of the border on the island next to ours are the recipients of a really excellent campaign and this latest film - directed by Kevin Thomas - is no exception.

Another sweet ad from Vodafone that will have dog lovers everywhere cooing with delight at the antics of Buster, a much-adored bulldog with an underbite enhanced by vampire-style joke shop teeth. His loving owners involve him in conversations while he radiates doleful indifference; waddling up stairs, shaking his wet chops and generally being a bit, er, hangdog.

This touching ad for Vodafone features video footage and photos of a young man and his dad, who - after the the birth of his son's baby boy - is now a granddad. The footage starts with a video call informing the dad of his new status, and throughout the spot shows footage of him with his son, themselves as new father and baby, up to present day. Clever and affecting.
