Strongbow pitch themselves as the essential festival tipple in this sun-kissed ad. Graded with a mid-summer glow, we watch throngs of festivalgoers 'owning' their domain - always with a cider in close proximity, of course. 'Come With Me Now' by Kongos gives the brand's call to arms the requisite urgency. Now if only music fans could guarantee this weather...

This punchy Strongbow ad crams a pleasing amount of patriotism into 30" as the cider brand whets our appetite for the Rio 2016 Olympics. From the moment this chap's phone alarm rings, it's straight to that prime position on the couch to watch the action. Make-up is applied like warpaint and Union Jacks litter the screen. It's a carnival atmosphere wherever there's a television screen, and it's up to us to bring our A-game as Team GB supporters.

Strongbow are the latest brand to jump on to the 'guerilla gardening' bandwagon with this enterprising film set on an abandoned street corner in downtown Johannesburg. With greenery at a premium, a band of nocturnal landscapers decide to inject some leafiness into the city before sunrise.

Strongbow and agency St Luke's continue their fruitful partnership with this ad promoting the cider's Cloudy Apple variant ahead of beer garden season. It's a rare instance of welcoming the clouds on a sunny day as an archer emerges from the grey mass to fire a lightning bolt into an enticing glass - giving each sip a little extra spark, as it were.

Sir Patrick Stewart's shaky relationship with Strongbow continues as this amusing commercial reveals he wasn't their first choice for the gig. Poor Patrick doesn't even get the chance to fully vent his indignation as the VO cuts him off without mercy. If being in charge of the Starship Enterprise and earning thirty-seven individual awards can't get you respect, what will?

"Cloudy Apple"

A meteorological event sure to get Carol Kirkwood's attention sees clouds gather to fire an electrified arrow into a pint of Strongbow. The resulting chemistry forms the brand's new Cloudy Apple variant as John Murphy's 'In the House - In a Heartbeat' plays in the background to underline the drama unfolding.

Poor Patrick Stewart just can't seem to catch a break in this US campaign for Strongbow. We're sure he's been practising his lines like the professional he is, but it's of no consequence to the blunt VO - all the brand needs to sell its cider is ice. No need for Stewart then, who doesn't even get the chance to set off on an indignant tirade.

This wry US ad from Strongbow shows how confident the brand are in the quality of their cider. After all, an award for best tasting hard cider can't do any harm. Nor can having Patrick Stewart as the face of the brand. Well, not quite - the acting legend's only job is to stand obscured behind the trophy while dealing with the VO's tetchy direction. A nicely realised gag.

If you're drinking cider, what do you need to complement it? Not a Hell's Angel tatt or badly-cut drugs; not at all - what you need is something soft and fuzzy to define your tipple's edges and give it that socially acceptable vibe. Like a walk on the beach with your beloved... and your very own slow motion horse called Brian. Works for us.

What a juicy ad to start the week off with. Using the excellent Temples track Keep in the Dark as its music bed, this spot for Strongbow shows us the contrast between the pleasurable and not so pleasurable aspects of making their well-known cider. Working in the bitterest depths of winter is the flip side to basking in the warmth of summer... and a delicious way to communicate the brand's bittersweet taste.

Will a bunch of pasty-faced blokes manage to beat Brazil's best women's five-a-side football team? That's the challenge in this spot which shows them being introduced to the players and looking rather scared at the prospect of trying to beat them. It's been launched in partnership with Sky Sports and Strongbow, and we expect to see more of the competition entrants getting their butts kicked as the campaign develops.

One lucky competition winner is going to be given the chance to take a penalty against a world class goalkeeper and it looks more than a little daunting. Stuart Pearce knows the highs and lows of the 12-yard spot-kick and will be there to guide, cajole and harass the winner into eventual success/failure (delete as appropriate).

What a total stunner of an ad. A beautifully simple, effective idea - earn your drink - brought to life in the most imaginative way possible. DAVID is a great believer in 'truthiness', and this has pint glasses of it. We've all known moments of triumph snatched from the yawning maw of disaster, and this captures the euphoria fabulously.

"Golden Explosion"

12 May 2013
This extraordinarily impressive-looking ad for Strongbow feels as if it should be viewed on a cinema screen. A cityscape of glass and steel with rooftop apple orchards is shown, and arrows are fired into the fruit as beautiful young people drink the cider and experience the taste of juice exploding in their mouths.

Strongbow
"Desert Arrow"
30s
27 Aug 2012
This striking commercial for Strongbow advertises their new pear variant. Under the desert sun, a man lines up a pear in his sights and fires an arrow through the heart of it. It's beautifully photographed and excellent use is made of a track from the film '28 Days Later' to add to the well-judged solemnity.

Four lads are on a mission but it looks like it's going to prove too much for them until they're inspired by the prospect of a pub garden and the advertised cider. Like the previous ad in this series, it can't entirely make up its mind whether it's supposed to be taken seriously or it's being played for laughs.

A CGI army of archers gets ready to attack the orchard where the apples are grown to make the advertised cider. It's a little bit portentous but impressive nonetheless and the scenes of arrows slicing through apples is a neat hint at the brand's advertising legacy.

This is almost great... but not quite. A different edit might have been enough to ensure this parody fully hit its target but, as it is, it feels a little as though it's hedging its bets... allowing room for us to believe these are real heroes rather than parodic figures.

For the second time Strongbow returns to the scene of an earlier commercial to add a subversive twist. The bankers are once agin the butt of the joke and, we're not quite sure but it sounds as though they are told to "fuck off" at the end.

A grand sequel to last year's commercial continues with the notion that the working man is a hero to the rest of us. A ceremony in a great hall honours the ordinary men who bring us the little comforts that make life bearable. Brilliantly grandiloquent.
