Kasabian
"Ill Ray (The King)"
3 mins 40s
30 August 2017
UK Promos

Historians may balk at this Kasabian promo, but for everyone else, it’s a king-sized romp. Exhuming Richard III’s bones isn’t enough for Lena Headey’s geeky necromancer… she wants the flesh and blood version.

She grants the Plantagenet (This is England’s Michael Socha) a second reign. Naturally, his resurrection occurs in a car park. Initially wary of modern trappings and window shopping, the hunchback gives the sesh his royal seal of approval.

As the band’s latest rabble-rouser chugs along, Game of Thrones's Headey shows she can demolish a curry like the best of them. Meanwhile, Socha’s monarch would swap his kingdom for another pint. King of the lads, indeed.

"Are You Looking for Action?"

Kasabian sound like a band whose team won the Premier League last season. Even if Leicester City’s title defence hasn’t gone according to plan, no one can blame Tom Meighan and Serge Pizzorno for still being in a party mood with ‘Are You Looking for Action?’ The disco-infused track is one of Kasabian’s longest to date, but the Partizan's Sing J. Lee holds our attention with a live glitterball rave captured in one continuous shot.

There's an awful lot of fun going on in this promo for Kasabian. Noel Fielding and Stephen Graham guest as the alter egos of two band members in a film which references some familiar films including 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' and a piece of Marx Brothers brilliance as well as a coy nod to Kasabian's 2009 album 'West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum'.

"Stevie"
4 mins 47s

Kasabian's tale of psychopath Stevie, features a video of a baby grown in a lab reminiscent of the eerie black room in Under the Skin. We leap forward in time to see him at the age of ten being put through various experiments by menacing men in gas masks who seem to be attempting to stop him responding to pain. But young Stevie has other plans.
