BBC Radio Five Live’s roster are coaxed out of the studio just long enough for this 30” promo. Whether it’s breaking news or live sport, the likes of Nicky Campbell, Rachel Burden, and Jermaine Jenas extol the station’s output. While we’re sure they would all rather be back behind the mic, this gives listeners the chance to put a face to the voice.

and that last line is a bit too close for comfort to the last line in sea biscuit, no?

The home of BBC sports commentaries underlines why it is unmissable radio for sports fans. Alan Green describes the action (Leicester City's recent victory against Liverpool, if we're not mistaken) in a way that leaves one listener standing still and others leaping off the sofa in delight. The way this season's going, there's going to be more than a few pulsating fixtures to come.

Danny Baker's excitable tones provide the soundtrack for this Radio Five Live commercial. A snippet from the presenter's Saturday morning breakfast show unfolds as a number of neat visual cues extol the benefits of listening to the wireless. Be it in the living room, the car, or the shower, we can rely on the station to keep us in the loop with the latest chatter.

BBC Radio 5's familiar animated style is used to illustrate the station's commitment to keeping fans up to date with the scores every Saturday afternoon. As well as the excitable reactions to the big goals from the big guns, it'll also be fun to hear commentators struggle with the unpronounceable names sure to be brought in on transfer deadline day.

It's been a while since the BBC have promoted their newscentric station and they haven't exactly pulled out all the stops here. No-frills graphics simply flash up what Nicky Campbell and Rachel Burden have to say about Five Live's supposedly invigorating morning news coverage. Strangely flat in comparison to the majority of the Beeb's radio spots.

The great unwashed explain why they should be allowed to kill intruders in a series of clips from a debate on a late night phone-in programme on the advertised radio station. It's meant to show the breadth of debate but there's a lack of gravitas which makes it closer to Jeremy Kyle somehow.

Another helping of Five Live illustrating that extraordinary things happen all the time. On the day of the budget, Richard Bacon and colleagues listen to PMQs and George Osborne's budget before the broadcaster announces the death of Elizabeth Taylor.

Another series of clips taken from a regular day at Five Live. Richard Bacon is revisited three times as he awaits the arrival of Katie Price. And, in case you're wondering, this certainly wasn't staged... DAVID was listening that day and she really was nearly an hour late.

A series of glimpses at the broadcasters of Five Live as they speak to the nation. Each of the clips was filmed during the day on Monday and this film was then on air that evening. There was a risk that the resulting films would fall short of the required dynamic but if this standard is maintained then there'll be no reason to worry.

Richard Bacon, Gabby Logan and Colin Murray talk about the rules they use to guide them when chatting on the radio. It's all a little bit smug and self-satisfied and, like the other film in the same series, appears to suggest that the trio are a bit light-weight.

"Now We're Talking"

Gabby Logan, Colin Murray and Richard Bacon talk about the difficulties of interviewing skilled politicians. Although the aim is to gain empathy DAVID cannot help thinking that are a bunch of light-weights and it's not surprising they struggle to hold their own in interview.

"Unrehearsed"

A policeman catches a fleeing villain and then gets tips from the crook on how he might have done a better job of catching him. This is what life might be like if it was a rehearsal. But it isn't apparently. And the good people at Five Live know this and they report it live as it's actually happening.
