Art connoisseurs will appreciate this Lexus commercial. While the marque’s latest hybrid navigates city streets, the likes of Edward Hopper’s ‘Nighthawks’ and Johannes Vermeer’s ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring’ receive the live-action treatment. Car shots outweigh artworks, but it’s a well-realised effort from the upmarket brand.

Lexus position themselves as the city slicker’s choice in this curious looking film. A couple sample everything the metropolis has to offer, including street food, rooftop cinemas, and, er, all-night perfume shops. The little bursts of freeze-frames work against the flow of the ad and it ends up being the kind of car ad that passes you by without impact.

Chief Lexus engineer Koji Sato narrates this fetching commercial. Forest walks and contemplative sketching are all part of the job for Sato. While he ruminates on his life's work, the marque’s LC500 coupé handles coastal roads with ease. Scenic photography and a meditative script make this one for the discerning petrolhead.

Lexus like to let us know what their creative sparks have been up to, and this technically accomplished ad strips some of their advanced creations to the core. All it takes is a little imagination… and a lot of moving parts. Hoverboards, speedboats, roadsters - it's clear the marque's boffins have been busy.

Two women get a brief taste of the high life due to a mix-up with their rental car in this upbeat ad for Lexus. Their borrowed RX opens up the doors to penthouse living, helicopter rides, and all-around unexpected glamour... much to the chagrin of the bloke the car was meant for. He's been stuck slumming it in an economy car all week - quelle horreur!

Typical, eh? You head to the docks for a relaxing drive only for a black-clad motorcyclist to give pursuit. Fortunately, this chap's behind the wheel of a Lexus IS. The advertised vehicle makes short work of this industrial circuit, weaving in and out of containers and drifting by the water's edge in an ad for the Japanese market made with a wry sense of self-parody.

The eco march continues with this ad for the Lexus Hybrid collection. The electrical motif is played to the hilt as miniature currents surge through the car's innards and even the driver. However, putting aside this odd suggestion that the vehicle will give you an electric shock each time you drive it, the impressive roar from the engine informs customers this is still a car with substance.

Director Adam Kaleta reminds us of his motoring prowess with this Lexus ad shot at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed. The event attracts all manner of petrolheads through its gates, and the Lexus LC 500 takes centre stage here. Snippets of the festival in full swing provide colour and atmosphere, while Kaleta whets the appetite of Lexus enthusiasts with some choice action shots.

This new series of bumpers by Lexus in support of Channel 4 improves on last year's cryptic selection by linking strongly to the car manufacturer's recent advertising strand. RSA's Rob Blishen crafts some bite-sized thrillers which would normally command any crowd's attention... only the Lexus NX has other ideas. Each well-shot scenario draws the viewer in before the advertised vehicle takes the spotlight.

A big gold car catches the eye of various well-heeled young professionals in this spot for Lexus. Given that it's the automotive equivalent of those ID bracelets so beloved of middle aged men in the 80s, it's hard to imagine their glances would be at all covetous. The bland soundtrack confirms all our suspicions that the brand is gunning for mid-life-crisis types who believe that more is more.

Brooding and laden with musings about life itself, this Lexus commercial takes a moody midnight drive only to go in a more liberating direction. Arriving at a cricket ground under cover of darkness, this driver reveals his true passion in life: dancing. Bathed in the glow of headlights, he and his partner throw restraint to the wind in an entrancing display. For those with a similar approach to life, Lexus are the brand in sync.

Despite its starry new presenting team, the rejigged Top Gear remains marooned in the motorway services for now. However, fans of the show's photogenic test drives can comfort themselves with this ultra-sleek film for the new Lexus LC500H, directed by series veteran Konrad Begg. Produced for this year's Geneva Motor Show, the piece combines abstract moments of repose with elegant shots of the vehicle in full flow.

If you were to suddenly stop and gawp at a car in the manner depicted in countless ads, you'd probably end up with an angry pedestrian bumping into you, or - ironically - be involved in a serious traffic accident. Lexus decides to emphasise the attractiveness of their new RC coupe in a much subtler fashion.

Want to know what it's like to live Jude Law's life for a little while? Then buy a Lexus and you'll get a bit of an insight... at least that's what this fun commercial for the luxury vehicle would have us believe. After handing over of the cars keys to the hotel concierge, Law disappears inside while the young man charged with parking it does his best to redefine the phrase 'joyride'.

We've included this primarily because it advertises an interesting initiative and we think some of you may want to throw your hats into the ring if you don't know about it already. Lexus are funding four short films from the submissions they received; and here, Cristina Mollino talks about her short which won last year. Worth a look so get on the Google machine.

As fans of the 'Back to the Future' series of films will know, there's a special significance to this year when it comes to the invention of the hoverboard. The fantasy plaything appeared when Marty McFly is sent thirty years into the future in the second film... landing him squarely in 2015. The day itself will prompt an outbreak of nostalgia for the film and Lexus have got ahead of the game to cleverly hijack some of the attention.

2015 is the year Marty McFly travelled to in the second of the Back to The Future films and many of us have been impatiently awaiting our hoverboards. Well, our vigilance may finally have paid off as Lexus appear to have pulled out their fingers and invented one. At least, that's what we hope is going on here.

Another stylish spot for Lexus hinges on the idea that a stronger body gives you greater control, and expresses that idea with the help of an acrobat. Set to Gesaffelstein's iconic Hate or Glory - a great choice - the ad suggests the car has a rare degree of power and discipline. What's more, the price at the end makes it seem surprisingly affordable.

This series of bumpers advertise Lexus's sponsorship of drama on Channel 4. Moodily filmed but with no real theme they get the job done without necessarily furthering the brand, and DAVID doubts many people will clock the fact that Lexus have helped to facilitate their enjoyment of the programming these have helped to pay for.

There should be a law decreeing that the world of music (such as it is) should not be allowed to mix with the world of motors. The rapper / entrepreneur / etc with the annoyingly-punctuated name has 'designed' the Lexus NX, saying: "I didn't want to make a Frankenstein, I just wanted to enhance." The results speak for themselves.

CHI's TV work for Lexus continues to exude class... albeit in a fashion that doesn't always feel that it'll be directly responsible for forecourt sales. This has the look of something that was done for real... as indeed it was. Apparently, a team of forty engineers were required to erect and control the large-scale rigging that allowed the 'Lightmen'.

Another film in this impressive series linking the Lexus with graceful forms of movement. This time, a drop of white liquid become a flower before it's transformed into a dress worn by a dancer. It's "concentrated luxury" according to the super at the end, and that's the point here... a reinforcement of a message about the quality of the advertised vehicles.

To the orchestral swell of a classic Hollywood-style movie, Lexus presents an utterly cinematic spot dedicated to the marvels of motion. Inspired by Night at the Museum, tiny flying craft swoop and swirl around empty places during the small hours to demonstrate the sense of freedom and possibility that driving a luxury car provides.

Impressively filmed in monochrome, this Lexus commercial creates an association between the elegant strength of a ballerina and the advertised car. When ballet is used in commercials, it's usually to evoke feyness but here we're cleverly reminded of the physical power required to execute the depicted moves.

This is a very clever piece of advertising indeed. Instead of hiding the puppeteers controlling the two giant figures via the magic of post-production, they've been left visible for all to see - and the effect is so much greater than it might otherwise have been. Very sleek and very clever.
