UK Ginger Beer (Alcoholic)

Considering some of the more surreal highlights of Vic Reeves' career, you'd think the idea of alcoholic ginger beer would be a perfectly reasonable one to him. His earnest description of the brand's heritage soon leads to mock-surprise at the drink he's promoting. By the appealing way director Marc Ingham presents the sparkling beverage, no doubt many will be tempted to take a punt.

One of the 'Famous Five' style ads is interrupted so we can be told about a couple of new variants of the advertised drink. This is an inexpensive way of communicating this and it works but it's a shame this campaign hasn't moved on from its promising premise.

Another in this series of bumpers advertising Crabbie's sponsorship of ITV's Christmas output. Here, a selection of shoppers, work colleagues and folk in general hum the jaunty little ditty that has a nostalgic feel implying we can all look forward to safe, cosy viewing this festive season.

A little ditty is introduced by the brand's representative at the start of this series of bumpers advertising the sponsorship of ITV's Christmas output. The refrain is then continued by punters in arcades and pubs.

Another helping of the ad campaign that uses a certain kind of 1950s Englishness to sell Ginger beer. It's very similar to the previous ad which also had a plucky gal talking directly to the camera in a style that suggested that she'd wandered carelessly from Enid Blyton's pen and straight into our living rooms.

More Famous Five style nonsense from the woman styled as though the 1950s never ended. She describes how the advertised drink can be enjoyed all fresco as a dog looks cutely on. Others feel this seam has been over-mined but we have a soft spot for this campaign.

In the same style as their recent commercial, this series of bumpers advertising Crabbie's sponsorship of the British Comedy Awards uses the Enid Blyton Famous Five vernacular to connect the product with the highs and lows of the awards.

This amusing ad for an alcoholic ginger beer draws on the long tradition of over-stating the tweeness of Enid Blyton's depictions of life in the 1950s. A housewife with vintage clothes and an accent to match explains how she's going to make " a tickety boo" tasty drink.
