Invincibility
The music video for Alabaster DePlume's 'Invincibility' is doggone delightful in a mad way, though it may be too much for someone who's just said goodbye to a beloved pet. DePlume, also known as Angus Fairbairn, plays the head of Jeffrey the dog (the body belongs to a real dog called Ponty), who chases after a Frisbee and gets hit by a car. DePlume's vulnerable rendition of 'Invincibility' goes hand-in-hand with the performances of Ida May and Aggie Yeoman as Jeffrey's owners. Both are devastated to lose such a good boy/fortysomething man, but also know the right thing to do is put him out of his misery. Brace yourself for when the needle goes in. As life flashes before Jeffrey's eyes, director Niall Trask somehow makes the sight of DePlume with a Frisbee in his mouth or head stuck out of the car window more poignant than it has any right to be. Tune into the promo's strange frequency and there is much to enjoy— perhaps even adore.
