 TV Spot Avatr 'Kim Jones'
4 April 2025 If anyone has a spare letter "a", please send it to Chinese luxury car maker Avatr—we suspect James Cameron's lawyers took one out of spite. If viewers are able to get past the silly name, they might be interested to know that fashion designer Kim Jones worked on the 012, an "elegant, futuristic, and chic" electric vehicle for eco-friendly aesthetes and fashionistas.

Short Film Short Film 'SOS... But Don't Worry If Not'
4 April 2025 Florence Poppy Deary directs a short and sweet film about an unusual distress signal. When a warship starts sinking, the crew’s ready to send out an SOS… but the captain (Steve Brody) needs time to think. Sure, lives are at risk, but he doesn't want to sound too needy or overbearing via Morse code.. So long as his feet are dry, there’s plenty of time to get it right.

 TV Spot SickKids 'The Count'
4 April 2025 The Hospital for Sick Children's run of kick-ass commercials continues with a spot directed by Iconoclast's Clement Durou. More than twenty SickKids patients star in 'The Count', a film all about the fight for each and every birthday. Many of us take cards, presents, and cakes for granted, but not this lot—they have to work hard to be the birthday boy or girl.

TV Spot North London Collegiate School 'Making Waves Since 1850'
4 April 2025 North London Collegiate School marks its one hundred and seventy-fifth anniversary with a sanguine film written and directed by Milk Machine's Alena Shevchenko. Founded in 1850 by Frances Mary Buss, we're told the school's been "making waves" ever since, and that's in large part down to Shevchenko's cast: pupils who not only push themselves, but boundaries, too.

 Promo Laufey 'Silver Lining'
4 April 2025 On 'Silver Lining', Laufey (or Laufey Lín Bing Jónsdóttir, if you’re not into the whole brevity thing) reveals she's in it for the long haul ("When you go to hell, I'll go there with you, too"). First, she attends a masquerade ball laden with foreboding. Stylist Leith Clark and production designer Natalie Falt go for a fun but infernal dress code that catches the eye as much as Laufey’s vocals are pleasing to the ear.

TV Spot Taylors of Harrogate 'Sunday Brunch'
4 April 2025 Taylors of Harrogate's sponsorship of 'Sunday Brunch' kicks off with an ident courtesy of agency Lucky Generals and director Neil Gorringe. A man assumes his wife has placed a cafetière on the table and says "Thanks, love", only to realise it was bloke in a Taylors of Harrogate apron. Flattered but on the clock, he leaves the 'kitchen' that's slap bang in the middle of the factory and gets back to it.

Short Film Short Film 'Georgia Hunter Bell'
4 April 2025 This sweet short film offers a snapshot into the life of athlete Georgia Hunter Bell, as she describes how she gave up on racing, after losing confidence in her own ability. Her redemption story culminated in securing the British record for 1500 m, and Charlie Watts's film captures her feelings about turning her athletics career around in very short order.

TV Spot The National Autistic Society 'It's How You Show Up'
3 April 2025 The dad in this National Autistic Society commercial has been there, done that, bought the T-shirt. He grew up with autism when it was misunderstood, misdiagnosed, or missed altogether. Things have improved a lot since then, but have they improved enough for Penny, his autistic daughter? It depends how many people "show up" for kids like her.

 Promo Drake 'Nokia'
3 April 2025 Drake's had a busy few days. Not only has the Canadian's beef with Kendrick Lamar cranked up another notch, but he's also released 'Nokia', a spiritual successor to 'Hotline Bling'. You might even say it's an ode to 'Trigger Happy TV', as he samples the Nokia tune that emanated from Dom Joly's giant phone. It's a stretch, we know, but it would be a fun way to mark the show's twenty-fifth anniversary!

 Promo BbyAfricka 'Trackstar'
3 April 2025 Ever wanted to hear a rap song that samples Beethoven's 'Für Elise’? Well, today is your lucky day. 'Trackstar' by BbyAfricka (real name Jasmine Armani) takes the first few notes from Ludwig van's bagatelle and pairs them with a beat straight out of Inglewood ("Flowin' on this beat so good, they think that I rehearsed/I've been on my own so long that nothin' else could hurt").

TV Spot Zalando 'Perks and Benefits'
3 April 2025 Zalando's 'What Do I Wear?' campaign continues as viewers tempt fate and add spring and summer outfits to online baskets across Europe. The brand wants to make that process look as seamless as possible, so no one has to wait long to look good. A clever shot in a lift has a guy model three different outfits in the space of a few seconds thanks to some tricksy camerawork.

 TV Spot Nike 'Onyx Huarache'
3 April 2025 As far back as he can remember, the lad in this Nike x Corteiz spot always wanted to be a voiceover guy. He's got potential—if only mum would let him practise in peace. Before she tells him dinner's ready, he pores over Huarache sneakers on his phone with a voice beyond his years and from across the pond. It's the only way to sell lines such as "You ain't ever seen these before".

|
TV Spot Monopoly Go! 'Obscenely Rich'
3 April 2025 More sensory overload courtesy of 'Monopoly Go!', the mobile game that says "nothing beats playing with friends, except bankrupting friends!" No Jason Momoa this time—he must have 'A Minecraft Movie' business to attend to. Still plenty of fun to be had with Keke Palmer, Chris Pratt, and Will Ferrell as the voice of Mr Monopoly, right? Depends on what you mean by fun.

 TV Spot BAFTA 'Games Awards'
3 April 2025 Susan Wokoma is an effective advocate for the idea that games are a legitimate form of storytelling in this film reminding us that gaming is part of BAFTA's agenda these days. Director Jennifer Sheridan uses the power of virtual production to shift the scenery as Wokoma takes a walk through some of the adventures faced by those who favour games consoles.

TV Spot Harry's 'Rugged Man of Mystery'
2 April 2025 In this entertaining TV spot for Harry's – the fun disrupter brand in the world of male grooming – a man is told that using their equipment won't turn him into a rugged man of mystery. This is a familiar trope, but it's been done well here (unsurprisingly, as they invited Elliott Power to direct the film). Instead of opting to lean hard into the comedy of the proposition by making the vignettes funny, Power has opted instead to play them straight and let the overarching absurdity of the proposition provide the laughs.

|
TV Spot Lexus 'Obsessed by Detail'
2 April 2025 To celebrate the connection between Lexus and the ATP, this visually astute commercial observes how both car manufacturer and professional athlete benefits from an obsession with detail. The tennis player depicted in an attractively assembled montage by director Nono Ayuso strives for perfection

| |
TV Spot Jägermeister 'Flowers for Society'
2 April 2025 The strange and funny commercial for Jägermeister from director Dominic O'Riordan introduces us to the bid by Wolfenbüttel to become a style capital of Europe in the footwear department. The pitch is made via a number of unconventional characters with agreeable levels of eccentricity, and the town certainly has DAVID's vote. Or it would, if the vote was real.

|
| |
 TV Spot QuickBooks 'West Ham'
2 April 2025 Another of the 'hero' spots that makes no attempt to connect the advertised service with the idea that it will help your business grow or, in this case, what the business even is. Unless they're suggesting West Ham would benefit from using the small business accounting software... it certainly might have helped when Harry Redknapp was running things.

|
|
TV Spot Peloton 'Run it Off'
2 April 2025 This feels a bit like a trailer for the actual ad, and we would definitely be interested in seeing a longer version... please leak the DC to us, as soon possible. But we must judge this on its own merits, and it's too rushed to convey its storyline of broken-hearted fitness acquisition with the coherence it deserves (although, for the record, lads... she won't look at you with regret once you've beefed up, she won't look at you at all).

|
| |
 TV Spot QuickBooks 'Ria'
2 April 2025 The press release accompanying this and the other five ads in this Quickbooks campaign describes them as the "six hero films". This is the most egregiously wrong use of the word hero DAVID has seen for a while. (For the record, there should be only one 'hero' film in a campaign, and it should be the longest and best of the new ads.) There is no hero film in this campaign, and this is as unheroic as the others.

|
| |
 TV Spot QuickBooks 'Utter Waffle'
2 April 2025 Sadly, no connection is made between the sudden success of the waffle business depicted in this quota quickie for Quickbooks, and the service which is being advertised... so it barely functions as a commercial. There are great examples of advertising which requires the audience to join the dots, but not when the dots that need joining are between the proposition and the brand.

|
TV Spot Clash of Clans 'Unleash Your Inner Clash'
2 April 2025 Cody Rhodes camps it up in this fun spot for Clash of Clans that has the wrestler trying to manage a double life as a regular guy who gets the shopping done, at the same time as annihilating other players on the advertised game. His fantasy life is intruded upon when a little girl in the supermarket recognises him from the game and threatens revenge for his diabolical misdeeds.

 TV Spot Rona 'Half-Ass'
2 April 2025 No one likes a half-assed job. But when expressing this, it turns out we don't take enough care to ensure we're beyond the earshot of any actual half asses, according to this agreeably silly TV spot for Rona. After wandering plaintively through the city hearing one condemnation after another framed around the idea of half-assedness, our CGI hero finds himself outside one of the advertised stores... where he's welcomed.

TV Spot Monopoly Go! 'Go Friends Gather'
2 April 2025 This commercial for Monopoly Go! is… a lot. Mr Monopoly’s deep pockets means the mobile board game can afford to hire Jason Momoa, Keke Palmer, and Chris Pratt, plus Will Ferrell as the voice of everyone's 'favourite' tycoon mascot. Buckle up, people—this tour of Goville! is not one for the faint-hearted or those with the volume turned up too high.

TV Spot New Balance 'The Allerdale'
1 April 2025 The man in this New Balance spot knows that dominoes starts at 5pm on the dot. Does he get a wiggle on? Does he fuck. That's what being fashionably late is all about, so he puts on his dark brown Allerdales and walks to the pub at his own pace. When your daily constitutional looks like a postcard from the Lake District, it's hard not to slow down and walk like a man off the clock,

 TV Spot Vann 'Dakota Ditcheva'
1 April 2025 Dakota Ditcheva, the first British woman to win a major MMA world title, stars in this blue-tinged commercial for Vann natural mineral water. Much to the chagrin of Ditcheva's opponents in the Professional Fighters League, Norwegian water appears to make the Sale native's fighting style even more fluid, aided by director Harry Reavley's kinetic camerawork and Henry Howard's cerulean grade.

 TV Spot AG1 'Core Foundation'
1 April 2025 One in a series of AG1 commercials from agency Uncommon and director Jack Cole, this ad is concerned with flatulence—the kind that some folk risk serious internal damage a vein to hold in. It's always worse at a dinner party ("Do you smell that?" "No…"), so the brand offers one afflicted guest a lifeline in the form of probiotics and prebiotics that reduces the gas bill, so to speak.

|
TV Spot AG1 'Power Your Day'
1 April 2025 One of a handful of AG1 commercials directed by Jack Cole, this instalment centres around the dreaded afternoon slump. How are you meant to look alive on a company Zoom call or keep REM sleep at bay long enough to go through fourth-quarter results? The protagonist would love to know before he falls unconscious and hits his weary head off the desk.

TV Spot Pizza Hut 'The Legend of Peter Zahut'
1 April 2025 With the NCAA Tournament, March Madness, the Big Dance, or whatever you wish to call it underway, this Pizza Hut commercial focuses on a man who was always destined to be a delivery driver. His first name is Peter, or Pete for short. His last name is Zahut, so… Pete Zahut. It was never going to work out at Domino's, Papa John's, or Little Caesars, was it?

| |
TV Spot Poretti 'Welcome to the Lake'
1 April 2025 Much of the delight of this sublime commercial for Italian(ish) beer Poretti is derived from its subtle lampooning of most other commercials for Mediterranean beers. The shots of a man heading across a lake, after we've glimpsed his boat from beneath and the monicker embossed on the side of his craft feels very familiar, and yet we quickly sense this is veering in another direction.
