CARLOS LÓPEZ ESTRADA JOINS NEXUS STUDIOS.

Powerhouse Nexus Studios have added Mexican filmmaker Carlos López Estrada to their ranks. Estrada joins after the success of Disney's Raya and the Last Dragon, a film inspired by the cultures and mythology of Southeast Asia. Despite Covid-19's efforts, he and co-director Don Hall delivered one of 2021's stand-out titles.

Such work leads Nexus co-founder and ECD Chris O'Reilly to say: "Carlos is a unique talent with a body of work that encompasses high end animated features, inventive music work and emotionally impactful live action storytelling. He's a lovely human being with a rare combination of talents and we couldn't be more delighted to have him join."


Along with Raya and the Last Dragon and debut feature Blindspotting, Nexus were also impressed by Estrada's work for artists like Billie Eilish, George Ezra, and Caged Animals. With more high-profile projects on the horizon, including a live-action remake of Robin Hood, Estrada couldn't be happier.

"Joining the Nexus family is a dream," says the Mexican. "I've been in awe of their creativity and their innovation for a long time and I cannot wait to get started making things together". Animation fans should keep their eyes peeled.
