The Sweetshop’s summer recruitment drive continues with the addition of GameFace and Alma's Not Normal director Andrew Chaplin.
The Reading native joins fellow newcomers Tom Gould and Jim Hosking at 13 Tottenham Mews, with the company eager to build on the success of Chaplin’s recent sitcoms, commercials, and short films.
The Sweetshop's Morgan Whitlock was particularly drawn to Chaplins's ability to juggle comedy and drama: “Running throughout Andrew’s work is a sensitivity and empathy, seemingly at odds with some of the broader, slapstick moments he so perfectly captures.”
I can’t believe I’ve convinced the guys at Sweetshop to sign me in the middle of a global pandemic!
Global CEO Wilf Sweetland shares his executive producer’s enthusiasm, adding: “Andrew is a really exciting addition to our growing London offering as we boost our creative capabilities for brands and agencies, while on Sweetshop’s ‘local-global’ approach.”
Chaplin, meanwhile, acknowledges the unique circumstances of his arrival: “I can’t believe I’ve convinced the guys at Sweetshop to sign me in the middle of a global pandemic! It’s exciting times for me (and hopefully for them).”
