Filmmaker Charles Todd wanted to be a music producer before he got a job in New York's financial district. Once the numerical novelty wore off, Todd joined Scheme Engine as a composer, with one eye on the director's chair.
Inspired by "people trying to make sense of the world around them" through film, Spindle's new signing threw himself into commercials, music videos, and documentaries that empower Black viewers. "I want people who look like me to see how beautiful they are," Todd says, "even if at times they don't feel it themselves."
So what drew Todd to Spindle? "What I love most about filmmaking is the sense of community: a bunch of crazy kids coming together to make something beautiful. From the beginning, Spindle's partners, producers and creatives have treated me like family. I'm feeling quite inspired by what we can imagine together."
Executive producer Lou Gagen shares his enthusiasm: "We are incredibly excited to welcome Charles to the Spindle roster and UK market.
