IT'S 2AM FOR MIKE MATTHEWS.
1 July 2021

2AM Films have added food and drink expert Mike Matthews to their directing roster.

Whether it's bagels or ice tea, stock cubes or single malt whisky, nothing on the menu fazes Stafford-born Matthews. Chuck in a host of TV cooking show credits and you have one of the most skilled operators around.

As 2AM executive producer Aly Moffat says: "Mike's films make you want to get in the kitchen and start cooking. They have a delicious vibrancy and energy married with an effortless cinematic style, and I know we’re going to have a lot of fun working together."

2AM are proper foodies who love to work hard and love to laugh and that's what I'm all about.

 ”

Meanwhile, owner and managing director Nick Crabb is keen to reinforce 2AM's food and drinks heritage: "Food is in the DNA of 2AM, the company having over the years nurtured several of the biggest food directing names in the industry past and present. Mike's already Premier League and comes with a very well-established showreel."

Crabb goes on to say: "We're looking forward to working with him to raise his bar even higher. Plus the fact he's an absolutely charming, funny and very likeable chap, is a win-win."

Ahead of his 2AM debut, Matthews explains: "I'm absolutely chuffed to bits to be getting on board. They seem like a lovely gang with a brilliant track record of making delicious looking stuff which makes a noise and gets people talking. I love to work with friends, and without sounding schmaltzy - they are proper foodies who love to work hard and love to laugh and that’s what I'm all about."
